  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) which has high power density is usually applied to traction motor for hybrid electric vehicle. In order to analyze characteristics of IPMSM, d- and q-axis equivalent circuit analysis is generally used. However, the line current of IPMSM calculated by d- and q-axis equivalent circuit analysis differ from measured value. This error is mainly appeared under the flux weakening control. In order to reduce the error between calculated and measured line current, no-load linkage flux which is calculated with considering saturation of magnetic core and armature reaction is applied to characteristic analysis. The result of line current calculated by the method dealt with in this paper is verified by comparison with experimental results.

  • This paper presents the d-q axis equivalent circuit model of an interior permanent magnet (IPM) which includes the iron loss resistance. The model is implemented to be able to run in real-time on the FPGA-based HIL simulator. Power electronic devices are removed from the motor control unit (MCU) and a separated controller is interfaced with the real-time simulated motor drive through a set of proper inputs and outputs. The inputs signals of the HIL simulation are the gate driver signals generated from the controller, and the outputs are the winding currents and resolver signals. This paper especially presents iron loss prediction which is introduced by means of comparing the torque calculated from d-q axis currents and the desired torque; and minimizing the torque difference. This prediction method has stable prediction algorithm to reduce torque difference at specific speed and load. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • In this study, a novel reactive power control scheme is proposed to supply stable reactive power to the distribution line by compensating a ripple voltage of DC link. In a single-phase system, a magnitude of second harmonic is inevitably generated in the DC link voltage, and this phenomenon is further increased when the capacity of DC link capacitor decreases. Reactive power control was performed by controlling the d-axis current in the virtual synchronous reference frame, and the voltage control for maintaining the DC link voltage was implemented through the q-axis current control. The proposed method for compensating the ripple voltage was classified into three parts, which consist of the extraction unit of DC link voltage, high pass filter (HPF), and time delay unit. HPF removes an offset component of DC link voltage extracted from integral, and a time delay unit compensates the phase leading effect due to the HPF. The compensated DC voltage is used as feedback component of voltage control loop to supply stable reactive power. The performance of the proposed algorithm was verified through simulation and experiments. At DC link capacitance of 375 uF, the magnitude of ripple voltage decreased to 8 Vpp from 74 Vpp in the voltage control loop, and the total harmonic distortion of the current was improved.

  • AC machines are in wide use in industry and d-q transformation from 3 phase of a, b, c is commonly used to analyze these kinds of machines. The equivalent circuits of d and q axis are, however, generally cross coupled and difficult to analyze. In this study, a modeling technique of AC machine including induction and PM synchronous motors using matrix vector is proposed. With that model, it can not only explain the AC machines physically but also make it simple to analyze them. The separating process of d and q components is not needed in this model and this model can be applied to analyze asymmetric motors like IPMSM machine. With this technique, the model becomes simple, easy to understand physically, and yields results that are the same as those from other models. These simulation results of the proposed model for induction motor are compared with those of other models to verify the method proposed.

  • In this paper, a new method for controlling the pointing device on digital display using EOG(electrooculogram) which is generated from eye movement, was suggested. The manufactured system is consisting of pre-amplifier, A/D converter, serial transmission device and PC program. The EOG is amplified by pre-amplifier. And the amplified EOG is digitized and transmitted to personal computer via rs-232c by PIC16C74A. Finally, the software for controlling the pointer on digital display is developed on computer. As the result, the error between the real subject's viewing point and the point indicated by the developed pointing device on digital display was investigated into the average value, 0.72 degree for horizontal axis, 0.96 degree for vertical axis. The pointing device developed in this study is controlled by subject's eye movement, that is, the user's intention. Furthermore, the algorithm of this study is applicable for many field such as a new method remote control, a new wheelchair control and so forth.

  • In this study, we investigated mask errors, photo errors with attenuated phase shift mask and off-axis illumination, and etch errors in dry etch conditions. We propose that total process proximity correction (TPPC), a concept merging every process step error correction, is essential in a lithography process when minimum critical dimension (CD) is smaller than the wavelength of radiation. A correction rule table was experimentally obtained applying TPPC concept. Process capability of controlling gate CD in DRAM fabrication should be improved by this method.

  • This paper describes a method of extracting the 3-D coordinates of feature points of an object from two images taken by one camera. The first image is from a CCD camera before approaching the object and the second image is from same camera after approaching the object along the optical axis. In the two images, the feature points appear at different position on the screen due to image enlargement. From the change of positions of feature points their world coordinates are calculated. In this paper, the correspondence problem is solved by image shrinking and correlation.

  • Machine parameters need to measure in advance for vector control and theoretical analysis. Therefore, we present the machine parameter measurement scheme, considering stator iron loss, by the single-phase test at standstill condition. Using this method, the d-q axis inductances and the equivalent iron loss resistance in the voltage equation considering stator iron loss are easily measured. This method is simple and does not need to use complex theory and expensive equipment.
