In this paper, we propose a dual-band multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with high isolation for WLAN applications (2.45 GHz and 5.2 GHz). The proposed antenna is composed of a mobile communication terminal board, eight radiators, a coaxial feed line, and slots for isolation. The measured -10 dB impedance bandwidths are 10.1% (2.35 GHz to 2.6 GHz) and 3.85% (5.1 GHz to 5.3 GHz) at each frequency band. The proposed four-element MIMO antenna has an isolation of better than 35 dB at 2.45 GHz and 45 dB at 5.2 GHz between each element. The antenna gain is 3.2 dBi at 2.45 GHz and 4.2 dBi at 5.2 GHz.

In this paper, a simple and nonlinear MMSE detector is derived from the conventional linear MMSE detector to improve the system performance in turbo processing MIMO system and a new turbo processing MIMO system with nonlinear MMSE detector and Gaussian approximation is proposed. In turbo coded turbo processing MIMO system, the proposed system of M=N=4 performs about 0.5 dB better than the conventional system and the proposed system of M=N=8 performs about 0.4 dB better than conventional system at 1 % FER. In addition, the average number of outer iterations of proposed system shows lower than that of conventional system. This is caused by the fact that the nonlinear MMSE detector of proposed system decides soft-outputs of coded bits based on the observation of received signals, so that it can reduce the uncertainty region in estimating the coded bits.

In this paper, the MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) channel characteristics for Rx antenna spacing are described in the real environment, which has LOS(Ling of Sight) and NLOS (Won-Line of Sight). We developed $2\times2$ MIMO channel measurement system at 2.3GHz Wibro Band. MIMO antenna evaluation parameters such as received power, channel capacity and spatial correlation are evaluated for standard dipole antenna with 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 wavelength spacing at 2-position for LOS and 4-position for NLOS. The spatial correlation is distributed more than 0.9 in most LOS case which might be intricate to operate MIMO communication. MIMO antenna design need to be focused on getting spatial diversity and reducing spatial correlation in LOS case.

In this paper, we propose the MIMO circular polarization feed network to enhance the communication performances from the previous $2{\times}2$ MIMO channel to $4{\times}4$ channel for Land Mobile Satellite communication system. The only possibility to extend the communication channel is to use the additional satellite because of the limitation of satellite spaces to install additional antennas. For overcoming this problems, we propose the MIMO circular polarization feed network to secure the isolation characteristics without the distant antenna space. The port isolation characteristics and each port impedance matching conditions are numerically verified and we suggest the $4{\times}4$ MIMO channel model of the proposed system and the performances are verified. The fabricated circular polarization patch antennas with the proposed feed network are measured in the reverberation chamber and 7~10 dB of diversity gain and 80 % increasement of channel capacity are obtained.
To implement high-order multiuser multiple input and multiple output (MU-MIMO) for massive MIMO systems, there must be a feedback scheme that can warrant its performance with a limited signaling overhead. The interference-to-noise ratio can be a basis for a novel form of Codebook (CB)-based MU-MIMO feedback scheme. The objective of this paper is to verify such a scheme's performance under a practical system configuration with a 3D channel model in various radio environments. We evaluate the performance of various CB-based feedback schemes with different types of overhead reduction approaches, providing an experimental ground with which to optimize a CB-based MU-MIMO feedback scheme while identifying the design constraints for a massive MIMO system.

MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) slot antenna that operates on the dual WiFi band(2.401~2.495GHz, 5.18~5.825GHz), in this paper, was studied. The basic theory for the slot design is based on the coupling between adjacent slot, and slots are fed by the each microstrip lines. Two slot antennas for the MIMO operation are located on the left and the right side of top of the metal notebook, and grounds between a notebook and two microstrip feeding lines are connected. Measurement of return loss showed under -6dB on entire design band, and isolation was below than -30dB. Radiation efficiency, average gain and peak gain for the left and the right slot were measured in the anechoic chamber, and showed good performances as 57.25%, -2.42dBi, 5.64dBi and 55.35%, -2.61dBi, 6.42dBi for the 2.4GHz band and 55.89%, -2.58dBi, 7.3dBi and 53.79%, -2.8dBi, 7.54dBi for the 5GHz band.

In this paper we design MIMO antenna with high isolation between antennas by using an isolation aid for WLAN. Two dual-band PIFAs which operates IEEE 802.11n are arranged symmetrically along the central axis of antenna frame and ground plane. By inserting an isolation aid between two PIFAs the isolation is improved maximum 5dB and 7dB for 2.4GHz band and 5GHz band respectively. Total efficiency is above 60%. ECC is below 0.1.

The capacity of MIMO systems is numerically analyzed when channel estimation error exists. The analysis shows that the capacity is influenced by Mean Square Error (MSE) as well as average Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Furthermore, in this paper we present the standard selecting a channel estimator suitable to a system owing to get a tolerable channel estimation error in a given average SNR and channel capacity loss. The simulation results show that the tolerable MSEs for 1 bps/Hz capacity loss are about 10$^{-2}$ and 10$^{-4}$ at n dB and 40 dB average SNR, respectively.
Assuming perfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter and receiver, the optimization problem of maximizing the minimum Euclidean distance between two received signals by a linear precoder is considered for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with arbitrary dimensions and arbitraryary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) input. A general precoding framework is first presented based on the Gram matrix, which is shown for 2-dimensional (2-D) and 3-dimensional (3-D) MIMO systems when employing the ellipse expanding method (EEM). An extended precoder for high-dimensional MIMO system is proposed following the precoding framework, where the Gram matrix for high-dimensional precoding matrix can be generated through those chosen from 2-D and 3-D results in association with a permutation matrix. A complexity-reduced maximum likelihood detector is also obtained according to the special structure of the proposed precoder. The analytical and numerical results indicate that the proposed precoder outperforms the other precoding schemes in terms of both minimum distance and bit error rate (BER).

In this paper, Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) is combined with Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) multiplexing to improve the throughput performance of AMC. In addition, a system that adopts Selection Transmit Diversity (STD) in the AMC-MIMO multiplexing system is proposed. The received SNR is improved by adopting STD techniques. And it increases probability of selecting MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme) level that supports higher data rate. This leads to an increased throughput of the AMC-MIMO system. STD in our simulation selects 2 transmission antennas from 4 antennas and AMC-MIMO multiplexing process operates with the selected antennas. The computer simulation is performed in flat Rayleigh fading channel. The results show that the proposed system achieves a gain of 1Mbps over the AMC-MIMO multiplexing system with the same number of antennas at 15dB SNR.
