The fatigue behaviors of mechanically alloyed Al-4Mg alloys dispersed with either $Al_2O_3$ or $MgAl_2O_4$ oxide particles were investigated. This study maily concerned with the role of coherency of dispersed particles with the matrix on the fatigue behavior of the alloys. The $MgAl_2O_4$ which has a spinel structure with the lattice parameter of exactly the twice of Al showed the habit relation with the matrix. The mechanically alloyed Al-4Mg alloys showed stable stress responses with fatigue cycles from start to failure regadless of strain amplitudes and of existence of dispersoids. The Al-4Mg alloy dispersed with $MgAl_2O_4$ showed not only the better static mechanical properties but also the better low cycle fatigue resistance than that with $Al_2O_3$, i.e., much higher plastic strain energy dissipated to failure, at low strain amplitude. However, this alloy showed inferior fatigue resistance to that dispersed with $Al_2O_3$ or that without dispersion at high strain amplitude. These results imply that $MgAl_2O_4$ may promote lowering the stacking fault energy of the alloy inherited from the coherency with the matrix so that dislocations shuttle back and forth on the same slip plane without cross slipping to other planes during fatigue at low strain amplitude resulting in long fatigue life.

Real-time kinematic (RTK) GPS surveying which allows centimeter level accuracy of three-dimensional coordinates without post-processing has become recognized as a major advance in GPS technology. Employing On-The-Fly initialization technique, the RTK system can escape from cycle slip problems that have affected as a main obstacle factor in traditional kinematic and static approaches. The objective of this research was to evaluate accuracy and effectiveness of the RTK-GPS surveying. First, the continuous RTK observation of a base line was conducted for the purpose of finding out the repeatability of the RTK surveying and the results which were then compared against results from static surveying showed RMS errors of $\pm{3mm}\;and\;\pm{13mm}$ for their respective horizontal and vertical components. On a test network of 30 stations covering the small area, the results of RTK testing were compared against those from not only post-processing kinematic and rapid-static surveyings but conventional surveyings and also the efficiency of RTK were analyzed. In addition, geoid heights which were derived by combination of GPS and spirit leveling about all of the points within the network were compared against those derived by the PNU95 and EGM96 models respectively.

To understand the effect of microstructural factors (i.e., the size of ${\alpha}$ phase, equiaxed vs bimodal structure) on high cycle fatigue (HCF) and fatigue crack propagation (FCP) behaviors of mill-annealed Ti-6Al-4V (Ti64) alloy, three specimens of EQ (equiaxed)-8 (8 indicates the size of ${\alpha}$ grain), BM (bimodal)-8, and BM-16 were studied. The uniaxial HCF and FCP tests were conducted at an R ratio of 0.1 under sinusoidal fatigue loading. The microstructural influence (i.e., EQ vs BM) was not significant on the tensile properties of mill-annealed Ti64 alloy, and showed an increase in tensile strength and elongation with decreasing gauge thickness from 50 mm to 1.3 mm. The microstructure, on the other hand, affected the resistance to HCF substantially. It was found that the EQ structure in mill-annealed Ti64 has better resistance to HCF than the BM structure, as a result of different crack initiation mechanism. Unlike HCF behavior, the effect of microstructural features on the FCP behavior of mill-annealed Ti64 was not significant. Among the three specimens, BM-16 specimen showed the highest near-threshold ΔK value, probably because it had the greatest slip reversibility with large ${\alpha}$ grains. The effect of microstructural factors on the HCF and FCP behaviors of mill-annealed Ti64 alloy are discussed based on fractographic and micrographic observations.
In this study, we analyzed the signal environment of 17 DGNSS stations operated by DGPS Central Office through TEQC quality checking, visibility analysis and site visits. With TEQC, we produced times series of four indices of TEQC quality checking: observation ratio, L1 pseudorange multipath, L2 pseudorange multipath, and the frequency of cycle slip events. From visibility analysis, the directions where missing observations are happening were identified and the result was verified through onsite investigation. Without considering TEQC indices at the six sites(Palmido, Eochungdo, Geomundo, Pyeongchang, Seongju, and Chungju), the average TEQC indices were: 98% observation ratio, 0.19m of L1 pseudorange multipath, 0.71m of L2 pseudorange multipath, and 1.3 cycle slips per 1000 observations. The observation ratios at Palmido and Eochungdo were low. It was found that receiver settings were incorrect so that they could track the P2 signal of GPS satellites with L2C capability. No signal-blocking obstacles were found around the Geomundo station except the lighthouse. Thus, we guess that the poor TEQC indices at the site are believed to be caused by problems in the GPS hardware or cables. The low observation ratio at Pyeongchang is being caused by the surrounding hills blocking the satellite view from the south to the northwest directions. Even though all of four TEQC indices were bad at Seongju and Chungju stations, we found that the signal reception environment at the two sites is in good condition. We think that the quality indices got poor probably because of malfunctioning equipment. So, further investigation is needed for the Seongju and Chungju sites.

National Geographic Information Institute has established a plan that preoccupies UCPs (Unified Control Points) at 2~3km intervals in urban areas by considering the distance between existing UCPs by satellite images and aerial photographs in 2015. In this study, we discussed the method of selecting the locations of optimal UCPs by simulating GPS reception environment in candidate sites for UCPs using GIS. For this purpose, we selected new candidate sites for installing UCPs using satellite images and aerial photographs, and analyzed the GPS reception environment by calculating the visibility distance from buildings around UCPs using GIS skyline analysis. The number of and the arrangement of visible satellites that are capable of GPS satellite reception from the viewpoint of sky view were showed by GIS skyline analysis. Quality evaluation results of GPS observation data were compared with average PDOP calculated from hourly PDOP and TEQC in two points of Sungkyunkwan University during 8 hours. As a result of GPS reception environment using GIS, if the PDOP increases, the data acquisition rate is lowed, and the multipath error and the cycle slip are increased. Thus, this study verified that the quality of GPS observation data can be secured by constructing three-dimensional spatial information and simulating PDOP when preoccupying multiple UCPs using GIS.
The super-geomagnetic storms called 2003 Halloween event globally occurred during the period of 29 through 31 which are the following days when the solar flares of X18 class exploded on 28 October 2003. The S4 index from GPS signal strength and the peak electron density ($NmF_2$) from GPS tomography method are analyzed according to the date. The occurrences of the cycle slip and scintillation in the GPS signals are 1,094 and 1,387 on 28 and 29 October, respectively and these values are higher than 604 and 897 on 30 and 31 October. These mean the ionospheric disturbances are not always generated by the period of geomagnetic storm. Therefore, GPS S4 index is useful to monitor the ionospheric disturbances. Behaviors of ionospheric electron density estimated from GPS tomography method are analyzed with the date. At UT = 18 hr, the maximum $NmF_2$ is shown on 28 October. It agrees with $NmF_2$ variation measured from Anyang ionosonde, and the GPS signal are better condition on 30 and 31 October than 28 October. In conclusion, GPS signal condition is relation with geomagnetic activities, and depend upon the variation of the electron density. We will study the long-term data to examine the relationship between the GPS signal quality and the electron density as the further works.

The synchronous stream cipher has the problem of synchronization loss by cycle slip. Synchronization loss make the state which sender and receiver can't communicate and it may make the receiving system disordered. To lessen the risk, we usually use a continuous resynchronization which achieve resynchronization at fixed timesteps by inserting synchronization pattern and session key. While we can get effectively resynchronizationby continuous resynchronization, there are some problems. In this paper, we proposed an adaptive resynchronization algorithm for cipher system using LAPB protocol. It is able to solve the problem of the continunous resynchronization. The proposed adaptive algorithm make resynchronization only in the case that the resynchronization is occurred by analyzing the address field of LAPB. It measure the receiving rate of the address field in the decesion duration. If the receiving rate is smaller than threshold value, it make resynchronization or not. By using adaptively resynchronization, it solves the problems of continunous resynchronization. When the proposed adaptive algorithm is applied to the synchronous stream cipher system which is used in X.25 packet network, it reduced the time for resynchronization by ten times. It means that 11.3% of total data for transmit is compressed.

Assuming that tidal level is constantly changed with an amplitude of 10 meters and a cycle of 12 hours, the slope stability for a typical dyke is analysed. The variation of pore water pressure within the dyke during the tidal change is obtained using a computer program, FLUMP, which is incorporated with saturated-unsaturated and transient flow. The results show that the variation of free water surface and distribution of pore water pressure within the dyke during the tidal fluctuations can be clearly predicted with the computer program. When a tide is lowered to the minimum level, the predicted pressure head is higher than the level of the free water surface in some parts of the dyke; that is, excess pore water pressure is generated in a zone affected by the tidal change. Also an unsaturated zone which shows negative pore water pressure is temporally created when a tide is lowered. The shear strength of the zone can be predicted based on the proposal suggested by Fredlund et al. It is emphasized that the excess pore water pressure generated during tidal fluctuations and strength parameters for the unsaturated zone should be considered in analyzing the slope stability of dykes. When those are considered, the critical slip surface seems to be located below the free water surface obtained when a tide is at the lowest.

The synchronous stream cipher which require absoulte clock synchronization has the problem of synchronization loss by cycle slip. Synchronization loss makes the state which sender and receiver can't communicate with each other and it may break the receiving system. To lessen the risk, we usually use a continuous resynchronization method which achieve resynchronization at fixed timesteps by inserting synchronization pattern and session key. While we can get resynchronization effectively by continuous resynchroniation, there are some problems. In this paper, we proposed an adaptive resynchronization algorithm for cipher system using HDLC protocol. It is able to solve the problem of the continuous resynchronization. The proposed adaptive algorithm make resynchronization only in the case that the resynchronization is occurred by analyzing the address field of HDLC. It measures the receiving rate of theaddress field in the decision duration. Because it make resynchronization only when the receiving rate is greateer than the threshold value, it is able to solve the problems of continuous resynchronization method. When the proposed adaptive algorithm is applied to the synchronous stream cipher system in packet netork, it has addvance the result in R_e and D_e.
