A simulation on the performance of a transcritical $CO_2$ heat pump system is carried out to investigate its characteristics for various operating conditions. Cycle simulation models are established for a steady-state simulation and are verified by comparing experimental data. Based on correlations and methods available in the literature, the processes in individual components of the transcritical cycle are simulated to analyze the performance of $CO_2$ transcritical heat pump system. The simulation models are good enough to predict the performance of a $CO_2$ transcritical cycle. Simulation results are provided to show the relative effects when varying the size of internal heat exchanger and the discharge pressure of a compressor.

This paper presents a computer simulation of five types of triple effect absorption cycles employ-ing the refrigerant absorbent combinations of NH3/LiNO3 low-pressure type NH3/LiNO3+H2O/LiBr binary two-stage type series flow cycle and two types of parallel flow cycle for H2O/LiBr. The absorption systems is investigated through cycle simulation to obtain the system characteristics with the cooling water inlet temperature approach temperature of absorber loss temperature of absorber and chilled water outlet temperature. The most important characteristic temperature of absorber and chilled water outlet temperature. The most important characteristic of NH3/LiNO3 low-pressure type and a NH3/LINO3+H2O/LiBr binary two-stage type is that it obtains a coefficient of performance higher than the sum of the performance coefficients of its part operating independently. As a result of this analysis the optimum designs and operating conditions were determined based on the operating conditions and the coefficient of performance.

Analysis of thermal performance is required for the economic operation of turbine cycle of power plant. We developed corrective model of main feed water flow which is the most important parameter for the precise analysis of turbine cycle performance. Classification model for the identification of feed water flow measurement status was applied to increase the suitability of the corrective model. We used neural network and support vector machine to develop estimation model of main feed water flow with more generalization capability. The estimation model can be used practically to evaluate corrective performance of turbine cycle plant.

A $CO_2$ cycle shows large throttling loss during the expansion process. The application of an expander into the $CO_2$ cycle can reduce the throttling loss and then improve system performance. In this study, the performance of a transcritical $CO_2$ cycle with an expander was analytically investigated in order to improve the cooling performance of the system. The expander was applied to the single-stage and two-stage compression cycles. The performance was analyzed with the variations of compressor frequency, outdoor temperature, and expander efficiency. The single-stage and two-stage compression cycles with the expander showed COP improvement of 25% and 32%, respectively, over the single-stage cycle with an EEV.

Miller cycle was studied and analyzed by engine performance simulation to achieve very low fuel consumption and to meet the IMO NOx regulation on a medium speed diesel engine. Based on the performance simulation results the intake valve closing time for HYUNDAI HiMSEN 6H21/32 engine was set at 0deg.ABDC(After Bottom Dead Center). Also, the simulation results indicated that significant NOx reduction could be achieved with low reduction of fuel consumption. The performance simulation investigated the effect of compression ratio and turbocharger on fuel consumption and NOx concentration in combination with Miller cycle. The results indicated a significant reduction of fuel consumption with keeping NOx concentration. The results of performance simulation were compared with measured data to verify simulation results. The comparison showed the maximum error was 2.34% in exhaust temperature. Also, the experimental result showed that improvement in BSFC(Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) was 5.8g/kwh with keeping NOx level similar to simulation result.

The objectives of this paper are to develop an advanced GAX cycle named HGAX (Hybrid Generator Absorber heat exchanger) cycle, and to study the effect of key parameters on the cycle performance and the hot-water temperature from the condenser. New types of the HGAX cycle are developed by adding a compressor between the generator and the condenser- Type C (performance improvement and reduction of the generator temperature) and Type D (Hot-water temperature application). The solution temperature in the generator outlet is reduced to 168$^{\circ}C$ with the COP improvement of 19% compared to the standard GAX cycle. The hot-water temperature from the condenser is raised to 106$^{\circ}C$ for panel heating (Ondol heating) application.

This paper concerns the study of a two-stage absorption heat pump cycle to utilize treated sewage. This two-stage cycle consists of coupling double-effect with parallel or series flow type and single effect cycle so that the first stage absorber and condenser produces hot water to evaporate refrigerant in the evaporator of the second stage. The effects of operating variables such as absorber temperature on the coefficient of performance have been studied for two-stage absorption heat pump cycle. The working fluid is lithium bromide and water solution. The efficiency of the two-stage absorption heat pump cycle has been studied and simulation results show that higher coefficient of performance could be obtained for the first stage with parallel flow type. The optimum ratio of solution distribution can be shown by considering the COP, the crystallization of solution and the generator temperature.

The objective of this study is to investigate performance characteristics of a household refrigerator using a two-stage compression cycle. The performance of the two-stage compression cycle was measured by varying the compressor speed, condensing temperature, and evaporating temperature. The COP of the two-stage compression cycle was analyzed and then compared with that of the single-stage compression cycle. The optimum combination of compressor speeds for a low- and a high-stage was determined. The COP of the two-stage compression cycle using a PTC (parallel two-stage compression) method was 5.85% higher than that of a STC (serial two-stage compression) method at optimum operating conditions.
This study was carried out to develop a simulation model with EES(Engineering equation solver) for analyzing the performance of a grain cooler. In order to validate the developed simulation model, several main factors which have affected on the performance of the gain cooler were investigated through experiments. A simulation model was developed in the standard vapor compression cycle, and then this model was modified considering irreversibe factors so that the developed alternate model could predict the actual cycle of a grain cooler. The compressor efficiency in vapor compression cycle considering irreversibility much affected on the coefficient of performance(COP). The COP in the standard vapor compression cycle model was greatly as high as about 6.50, but the COP in an alternative model considering irreversibility was as low as about 3.27. As a result of comparison between the actual cycle and the vapor compression cycle considering irreversibility, the difference of pressure at compressor outlet(inlet) was a little by about 48kPa (8.8kPa), the temperatures of refrigerant at main parts of the grain cooler were similar. and the temperature of chilled air was about 8$\^{C}$ in both. The model considering irreversibility could predict performance of the grain cooler. The theoretical period required to chill grain of 1,383kg from the initial temperature 24$\^{C}$ to below 11$\^{C}$ was about 55 hours 30 minutes, and the actual period required in a grain bin was about 58 hours. The difference between the predicted and an actual period was about 2 hours 30 minutes. The cooling performance predicted by the developed model could well estimate the cooling period required to chill the grain.

Wireless sensor consists of an internal power source which has limited life time. Several MAC protocols have exploited scheduled sleep/listen cycles to conserve energy in sensor networks. Duty cycle is a user-adjustable parameter in low duty cycle MAC protocols, which determines the length of the sleep period in a frame. The sire of duty cycle has direct effect on the Performance of MAC Protocols. In this Paper, we simulated TEEM (A Traffic Aware, Energy Efficient MAC) and S-MAC in NS-2 with different duty cycle values and analyze how duty-cycle effects on the performance and energy consumption of both the protocols.
