The ultrasonic cutting method is which cutting by applying high frequency vibrational energy into specific area at constant pressure. Ultrasonic cutting is consisted of power supply, transducer, booster and cutting tool. Precise designing is required since each part's shape, length and mass can affect driving frequency and vibration mode. This paper focused to cutting tool design, its length L was set by calculating vibration equation. And the value of the shape parameter a was diversified as the integral multiple and the result of 40,189Hz the analysis of Modal was shown in the length 30mm of the result of performance b in the 11th mode Also by performing harmonic response analysis, the frequency response result was 40,189Hz, which was similar to modal analysis result.

In this paper, we suggest a virtual machining system that can simulate cutting forces of ball end milling at the stage of part design. Cutting forces, here, are estimated from the machanistic model that uses the concept of specific cutting farce coefficient. To this end, we need undeformed chip thickness which is used for calculating chip load. It is derived from the Z-map data of a CAD model. That is, chip load is the height difference between the cutting tool and the workpiece at an arbitrary position. The tool contact point is referred from the cutter location data. On the other hand, the workpiece height is acquired from the Z-map model of a CAD data. From the experimental verification, we can simulate machining process effectively to the slot and the side cutting of ball end mill.

The Surface, generated by end milling operation, is deteriorated by tool runout, vibration, friction, tool deflection, etc. Especially in cornering cut, surface accuracy is usually determined by varying cutting forces, which causes tool deflections. Cutting conditions like feed rate is usually kept constant during machining a part, which causes dimensional error in severe cutting. Cornering cut is a typical example of deterioration of surface accuracy when constant feed rate is applied. Therefore it becomes important to develop NC post processor module to determine optimal cutting conditions in various cutting situations. In this paper, cutting force is predicted in cornering cut with flat end mill and feed rate is determined by constraining constantly resultant force. Also some control characteristics of CNC machining center are evaluated.

In the part industry, pipe has required high accuracy in surface roughness and size. Especially, when producing the high frequency welding pipe, cutting process is very important as the finishing process that remove the hot welding bead. The objective of this paper is to investigate the hot machining high frequency welded pipe by simulation and experimental tests. To test the cutting process as hot machining, all cutting environment is reproduced in turning with heating system, and the test is accomplished by comparing with room temperature machining and hot machining in consideration of cutting force, tool wear and cutting temperature.
As part of an effort to systematize the operation planning for cutting processes, the neural network method has been applied to model the process of selecting cutting conditions and subsequently to arrive at effective and safe cutting conditions through learning during training of the model. New cutting conditions that are more effective and safer for the given circumstance are obtained. The proposed algorithm deletes the old information previously learned, and then makes the network make at improvement by learning. As a result, the new algorithm provides useful cutting conditions for safer manufacturing environments. A variety of simulation cases illustrate the performance of the proposed methodology. The simulation results are provided and discussed.

This study was carried out to investigate the role of attached leaflet on rooting and growth by one nodal cutting in tomato. As cutting sources 4 to 6 nodes could be obtained from one nursery seedling. Medium for cutting was a mixture with perlite plus peat moss (1 : 1, v/v), and each plug capacity was 30mL in the 72 cells-plug tray. Plant height and the number of leaves were significantly increased by attached leaflet cutting in 'Pepe' and 'Coco' cherry tomato. Dry weights of top and root were increased as much as 3 to 15 times in the cutting attached leaflet. Rooting percentage was 93.5% in one node cutting and 86% in the cutting with hypocotyl node part. At 20 to 24 days after nodal cutting, healthy nursery plant could be produced to transplant in field. The nursery plants by nodal cutting (NPNC) showed more fibrous roots and less tap roots than that of seedling. In terms of rooting pattern, NPNC rooted at the whole ground stem part, while rooting of seedling occurred at basal part of hypocotyl.

A field experiment was conducted in order to investigate the seasonal changes of leaf growth and related characteristics in three cultivars of orchardgrass; Potomac, Kay and Sumas. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Leaf elongation was increased in a nearly linear phase during first and third cutting stages. It was increased slowly in early 10 days to 15 days after cutting and increased rapidly thereafter during the rest cutting stages. In cultivars, Potomac was showed hlgher leaf elongation than other cultivars during all cutting stages. There was no difference of leaf width within cutting stages, but the leaf width of fall regrowth was narrow. Sumas had relatively short and wide leaves. 2. Leaf dry weight and leaf area in first cutting stage were larger than others. Leaf area was increased rapidly from 15 days after cutting and leaf $we$ was increased rapidly from 20 days over all cutting stages. The increase in leaf area and dry weight were slow down after 30 days. 3. Number of epidermal cells was increased rapidly after cutting and the rate of increase was slow down after 30 days. In a cross section of leaf tissue, the part of mesophyll was occupied with about 60% of total area and larger area than other tissues. Leaf tissue had a large vacancy at early growth period after harvest and was filled gradually with mesophyll. This result was related to the increase of leaf dry matter.

This paper presents a knowledge-based computer aided process planning system that automatically selects machine tools, machining operations and cutting tools and determines sequences of the machining operations for prismatic parts in die manufacturing. In the proposed system, parts are described by manufacturing features and grouped into part families based on the functions. Each part is repressented by a part frame which consists of basic data and manufacturing features. Knowledge for manufacturing is acquired from the domain expert and represented by frames. A decision model for selection of machine tools, machining operations and cutting tools and for determining sequences of the machining operations are developed by employing the Mealy machine in finite automata with output. The decision procedure and the order of priority which inputs manufacturing features into the Mealy machine are represented by rule for each part family. Backward chaining is used for the proposed system. The proposed system is implemented by using TURBO-PROLOG on the IBM PC/AT. A case study for the slide core is presented to show the function of the proposed system.

In end milling processes, characterized by use of rotating tools, the underformed chip thickness varies periodically with the phase change of tool. In current study, as a new approach to analyse shear behaviors In the shear plane and chip-tool friction behavior chip-tool contact region during an end milling process. In this approach, an up-end milling process is transformed into an equivalent oblique cutting process. Experimental investigations for two sets of cutting tests i.e.. up-end milling and the equivalent oblique cutting test were performed to verify the presented model.
When machining of a free-form surface with a ball endmill it is very important to select proper cutting conditions considering the geometrical shape of a workpiece to make the production more effective and reduce the machining time. Even though the same cutting conditions and materials are used, the cutting system of different geometry part machining shows the different static/dynamic characteristics. In this study, through various cutting experiments, we can construct the data base of stable cutting conditions for the machining of a Zine Alloy. We can get some relational plots between the optimal feedrates and classified shape features and parameters. On the basis of these results, we can develop the feedrate optimization program OptiCode. The developed program make it possible to reduce the cutting time and increase the machining accuracies.
