Customer Acceptance of Self-service Technologies in Retail: A Case of Convenience Stores in China

  • This paper investigates how firms increase customer acceptance of self-service technologies in retail, and the impact of self-efficacy on customer experience, satisfaction, and loyalty. We conducted our empirical research by administering 308 questionnaires to customers of self-service convenience stores in China. We employed a structural equation model to analyze the relationship between service quality, revisit intention, and word of mouth. The results indicate that perceived service quality significantly influences customer satisfaction, with the service quality of self-service retail and experience value being important factors in consumer acceptance of self-service retail stores. Additionally, we investigated the relationship between customer experience value, satisfaction, and loyalty, and found that self-service retail stores exert a significant impact on perceived self-efficacy. Informed by the research on customer acceptance of self-service technologies in retail, promoting further development of self-service retail technologies can effectively aid companies in generating profit while offering more convenience to customers.

  • Aviation/tourism industry has a unique characteristic of high inter-dependance between customer and service-provider. It is the mental condition of service-provider that could influence on the attitude of the service-provider. Thus, it is important to manage the mental condition of the service employees to enhance a company's financial performance. This paper tries to analyze the combined model of both policy acceptance and service profit chain(SPC) models. First, service policy acceptance model tells how the service policy acceptance, which consists of policy compliance, trust, participation and policy failure, would influence on SPC model. According to empirical research, it was found that both the employees' policy compliance and the policy trust have a positive significant impact on their participation on service policy. In the policy acceptance model, the employee's voluntary participation based on their trust and compliance of the policy was proven to have a positive effect on increasing job satisfaction and customer orientation. Regarding SPC model, their participation in the policy had the strongest impact among variables on customer orientation. Such results implies the employees' participation on the policy could become the starting point to enhance the customer value.

  • Today, the development of internet brings many changes in formation exploration and acceptance. Not only the customers can come into contact much information about the firm and its product by quick and easy search, but also they produce information by themselves or can spread the information via the internet. Nowadays, customers are progressive information explorer and producer on online. In this sense, this study examined the effects of e-word-of-mouth information characteristics on the consumer's perceived usefulness and perceived acceptance of e-word-of-mouth information in the food service industry in order to suggest directions to enhances marketing strategies for marketer. The research model for this study was designed based on the hypothesis that the characteristics of e-word-of-mouth information and credibility of the information influenced both the user's perceived usefulness and acceptance. Based on total 277 customers obtained from the empirical research, this study reviewed validity, reliability and fitness of research model. The analysis results on these factors are as follow. First, the characteristics of e-word-of-mouth information; vividness, consensus, direction had an influence on the customer's perceived usefulness. Second, the characteristics of e-word-of-mouth information; vividness, consensus, direction had an influence on the customer's perceived acceptance. Third, the reliability of information had an influence on the customer's perceived usefulness and the credibility of e-word-of-mouth information perceived acceptance. Fourth, the customer's perceived usefulness had an influence on the customer's perceived acceptance.

The Effect of Airport Self-Service Characteristics on Passengers' Technology Acceptance and Behavioral Intention

  • Purpose - This paper analyzes the effects of the SST characteristics at airports on behavioral intention through technology acceptance and customer satisfaction, and presents a strategic plan for introducing SSTs to airports providing differentiated services. Research design, data, and methodology - We examine the role of airport self-service characteristics and access the influence of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) on both customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions towards SSTs. To do this, a survey is conducted with passengers having used self-service technologies(SSTs) at Incheon International Airport. A total of 400 questionnaires are then analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results - According to the results, of the self-service characteristics, customer satisfaction and behavioral intention were affected by optimism through perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and perceived enjoyment and by innovativeness and insecurity through perceived ease of use. Conclusions - According to the results of the study, the purpose of using TBSS in the airport is to save time and convenience. Therefore, it is necessary to closely analyze the differences in technology acceptance by age and generation, increase user self-efficacy, increasing satisfaction through effective management of cognitive and emotional waiting time will have a positive impact on behavioral intentions.

의료서비스의 대기시간 요인이 고객만족과 서비스 가치에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Effect of Waiting Time factor of Hospitals on Customer Satisfaction and Service Values)

  • One of the important complaint factors by the patients using medical institutions is various kinds of waiting time. This research is about the causal relationships among waiting time(application of waiting time, perceived of waiting time, fairness of waiting, explanation of the delay, acceptance possibility), service values, and customer satisfaction. The subjects for this study were 256 out-patients currently using seven general hospitals in the Busan area. The findings of the empirical analysis are as follows: First, the good application of waiting time or fair waiting time procedure didn't actually affect perceived waiting time. Second, though the application of waiting time didn't affect acceptance possibility, the fair procedure of waiting time had an affirmative effect on acceptance possibility. Third, even when there was enough explanation about the need to wait, it could shorten perceived waiting time but failed to get sufficient sympathy or agreement from the patients. Fourth, the possibility of acceptance following the sufficient sympathy of patients had an effect on shortening perceived waiting time. Fifth, perceived waiting time lowered customer satisfaction, but had no negative effect on service values. Finally, the ranges of acceptance possibility by the patients were found to increase customer satisfaction and maximize service values. In conclusion, every medical institution needs to focus on, first of all, shortening waiting time for more customer satisfaction and improved service values.

IaaS 클라우드 서비스 수락제어를 위한 효율적인 2단계 휴리스틱 정책 (An Efficient Two-Phase Heuristic Policy for Acceptance Control in IaaS Cloud Service)

  • In this study, we propose an efficient two-phase heuristic policy, called an acceptance tolerance control policy, for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud services that considers both the service provider and customer in terms of profit and satisfaction, respectively. Each time an IaaS cloud service is requested, this policy determines whether the service is accepted or rejected by calculating the potential for realizing the two performance objectives. Moreover, it uses acceptance tolerance to identify the possibility for error with the chosen decision while compensating for both future fluctuations in customer demand and error possibilities based on past decisions. We conducted a numerical experiment to verify the performance of the proposed policy using several actual IaaS cloud service specifications and comparing it with other heuristics.

  • This study defined acceptance of high-tech new product as user's active using the product such as utilizing application software rather than purchasing it. As exploring factors to effect on customer's acceptance, usefulness expectancy was examined from product side and application side. When investigating the exogenous variables to influence on usefulness expectancy from the product side, customer's product knowledge and social influences are put forward to support the hypothesis. From the application side, customer's knowledge about the application and its trust are put to explain usefulness expectancy of the application. Smart phone users were good subjects for this study and most hypotheses were tested using structural equation model and the results are followings. First usefulness expectancy of the product and of application significantly effect on customer's intention to use high-tech new product and also usefulness expectancy of the product positively effects on which of the application. Second customer's perceived knowledge about the product and social influences impact usefulness expectancy of the product. But third customer's perceived trust toward application didn't any positive impact usefulness expectancy of the application. Through the result, there will be several implications. First, from both of side; product and application, customer's usefulness expectancy should be satisfied to be successful in high-tech products market. Second, customer should be Ieant about advantages of the product and knowledge about the application as well, and then trigger their usefulness expectancy.

산업 및 고객 특성에 따른 CRM 효과 차이에 관한 연구 (The Industrial and Customer Characteristics Influencing on the CRM Effects)

  • 산업의 경쟁이 치열해짐에 따라 기업에서는 차별화 전략으로 고객관계관리에 많은 비용과 노력을 사용하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 활동들이 과연 고객에게 어떻게 받아들여지고 있으며 궁극적으로 기업의 성과에 어떤 도움이 되는지를 살펴보았다. 연구결과 사회적 편익, 심리적 편익, 경제적 편익, 고객화 편익이 관계투자 노력에 대한 지각에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었으며 관계투자 노력에 대한 지각이 CRM성과에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 추가적으로 이러한 영향관계가 개별 기업이 속한 산업특성과 고객성향에 따라 어떤 차이가 있는지를 살펴보았는데 관여도, 고객과의 관계형태 위험에 대한 고객성향에 따라 CRM 활동이 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향에 차이가 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구는 산업 및 고객 특성에 따라 그 영향 요인 및 강도에 어떤 차이가 있는지를 제시하고 있어 좀더 실질적인 연구결과의 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

인터넷 뱅킹의 사용자 지식, 서비스 특성, 보안요인이 지속적 고객수용에 미치는 영향 (Factors Affecting Continuous Customer Acceptance of Internet Banking)

  • 본 연구는 인터넷 뱅킹 서비스가 성숙기에 접어 들면서 고객들의 인터넷 뱅킹이라는 기술을 수용하게 되는 과정과 이유 파악이 필요하며, 고객의 입장에서는 인터넷 뱅킹 서비스가 어떤 단계를 거쳐 어떻게 이용되는지 알아보고 인터넷 뱅킹의 지속적 고객수용에 영향을 미치는 외부적 요인을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 외부적 요인으로는 사용자지식, 서비스 특성, 보안, 인지된 위험, 사용편리성 그리고 유용성을 사용하였다. 실증분석을 위한 틀로서 TAM을 기초로 변형한 Ex-TAM을 재구성하여 분석하였다. 결과로서 4개의 요인 (서비스 특성, 사용편리성, 유용성, 신뢰)이 유의하게 나타났다. 반면, 2개의 요인(보안, 인지된 위험)은 유의하지 않았으며 1개의 요인(사용자 지식)은 부분적으로 유의하게 나타났다.

디지털음악 콘텐츠서비스의 수용 요인이 지각된 가치와 고객만족에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Digital Music Service Acceptance Factors on the Perceived Value and Customer Satisfaction)

  • 최근 국내 디지털 음악 시장은 소비자들의 이용 패러다임 변화에 따른 디지털 음악 콘텐츠 서비스의 수용이 중요하게 대두되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 문헌고찰을 통해 '디지털 음악 콘텐츠 서비스의 수용'의 특성을 도출하고, 소비자의 '지각된 가치'와, '고객만족'의 관계를 살펴보았다. 또한 구조화된 설문지를 구성하여 5대 음원서비스 사이트를 경험한 이용자를 대상으로 조사하여 207개의 유효 표본을 확보하고 실증분석을 하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 이용자의 인구통계적 특성에 따라 디지털 음악 콘텐츠 서비스의 인식은 부분적으로 차이가 나타났다. 두 번째 디지털 음악 콘텐츠 서비스 요인은 지각된 가치에 영향과 고객만족에 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 연구결과들은 디지털 음악 서비스 사업자에게 새로운 성장 해법과 마케팅 전략에 활용할 수 있는 기초자료로서 그 의미가 있다.
