Test Construction of the Paved Track at Subway Main Line (도시철도 본선 토공구간에서의 포장궤도 시험부설)

  • Recently, the development of the paved track is required as a low-maintenance of conventional line. The main reason is that the line capacity and bearing of track are increased progressively. The important factors of paved track are stability and applicability. To be based on this subject, cement mortar pouring type paved track is developed. The paved track is a kind of concrete track using the prepacked concrete technique. The most important thing to design the paved track is to optimize the track structure and materials considering various conditions. Until now, the paved track is verified a various material and structure test. In this paper, it is introduce to the test construction at the urban subway main line. The test construction is completed at Dec. 2007. A major object and substance is a guarantee of construction progress on main line, track performance, construction technique for curved section, transition zone and winter season, recycling the used ballast and application of specific sleeper for sharp curved section.

BER Performance for Satellite DMB System E in Tunnel Environment (터널 환경에서 위성 DMB 시스템 E의 BER 성능)

  • A different alternative method for simulating bit error rate(BER) performance of Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) in tunnel environments is presented. The method based on a channel model obtained by ray-tracing is able to support BER estimation over the channel presents arbitrary statistics that are difficult to fit to an analytic expression. The BER performance for System E over the tunnel fading channel that obtained by ray-tracing is predicted by the monte-carlo method. It can be observed that the BER performance for a straight tunnel channel is better than that for a line-of-sight(LOS) area in curved tunnel. Also, the BER performance for LOS areas in a curved tunnel outperforms that for non-line-of-sight(NLOS) areas in a curved tunnel. The BER performances for straight, curved LOS and curved NLOS tunnel channels are better than that for a Rayleigh channel(K=0) and less than that for a Rician channel with K=3. Moreover, for BER=10-3, it can be seen that there is approximately a $1{\sim}1.5\;dB$ difference between those three types of tunnel channels and a Rayleigh channel.

Extraction and Modeling of Curved Building Boundaries from Airborne Lidar Data (항공라이다 데이터의 건물 곡선경계 추출 및 모델링)

  • Although many studies have been conducted to extract buildings from airborne lidar data, most of them assume that all the boundaries of a building are straight line segments. This makes it difficult to model building boundaries containing curved segments correctly. This paper aims to model buildings containing curved segments as combination of straight lines and arcs. First, two sets of boundary points are extracted by adaptive convex hull algorithm and local convex hull algorithm with a larger radius. Then, arc segments are determined by average spacing of boundary points and intersection ratio of perpendicular lines. Finally, building boundary is modeled through regularization of least squares line or circle fitting. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can model the curved building boundaries as arc segments correctly by completeness of 69% and correctness of 100%. The approach will be utilized effectively to create automatically digital map that meets the conditions of the Korean digital mapping.

  • Hydroforming is a metal forming process that enables circular metal tubes to be formed in to the parts with the complex cross section along the curved axial direction. Recently this hydroforming process is largely used for the production of the automotive parts. This paper presents the results of tube bending and hydroforming simulations in cases of the varying weld line positions of the tube. Ten cases of prebending and hydroforming simulations are carried out to find the optiaml weld line position.

  • In this paper, we present a method to extract the text lines in poorly structured documents. The text lines may have different orientations, considerably curved shapes, and there are possibly a few wide inter-word gaps in a text line. Those text lines can be found in posters, blocks of addresses, artistic documents. Our method based on the traditional perceptual grouping but we develop novel solutions to overcome the problems of insufficient seed points and vaned orientations un a single line. In this paper, we assume that text lines contained tone connected components, in which each connected components is a set of black pixels within a letter, or some touched letters. In our scheme, the connected components closer than an iteratively incremented threshold will make together a chain. Elongate chains are identified as the seed chains of lines. Then the seed chains are extended to the left and the right regarding the local orientations. The local orientations will be reevaluated at each side of the chains when it is extended. By this process, all text lines are finally constructed. The proposed method is good for extraction of the considerably curved text lines from logos and slogans in our experiment; 98% and 94% for the straight-line extraction and the curved-line extraction, respectively.

Walking behaviors for stroke survivors: comparison between straight line and curved path

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare walking conditions (straight line and curved path) on walking patterns in persons who had experienced hemiplegic stroke and to determine whether if they adapt their walking pattern and performances according to changes in environmental conditions. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Forty-four hemiplegic stroke survivors participated in this study. This study measured walking performance in three different walking conditions, such as straight walking, the more-affected leg in the inner curve walking, and less-affected leg in the inner curve walking conditions, and a 2-dimentional gait analysis system was used as a primary measurement. This study also measured secondary clinical factors including the Timed Up-and-Go Test, the Trunk Impairment Scale, and the Dynamic Gait Index. Results: After analyzing, cadence and step length of the less-affected side, stride length in the more-affected side, and stride length in less-affected side were significantly different among the three different walking conditions in this study (p<0.05), but other temporospatial parameters were not significant. Cadence was the largest in the straight walking condition. Step length in the less-affected side, stride length in the more-affected side, and stride length in less-affected side were also the longest in the straight walking condition. Conclusions: The results of the study suggest that hemiplegic stroke survivors show walking adaptability according to changes in walking demands and conditions, and moreover, cadence and step and stride lengths were significantly different between straight and curved walking conditions.

Deformation Characteristics of Compound Curved Plate Bending by Asymmetric Rollers (상하 비대칭 롤러를 이용한 이중곡면 성형의 변형특성에 대한 연구)

  • Die-less forming is a cold forming process which is to bend thick flat plates into compound curved plates using two asymmetric rollers. This forming method has several advantages compared with line heating which is widely used to fabricate compound curved pieces in shipyards. The die-less forming, however, has scarcely been studied. Even the deformation mechanism in this forming process has not been understood clearly. So, in this paper, the deformation characteristics of die-less forming is investigated analytically and numerically. for the analytic investigation, slab method based on equilibrium equation is applied. And the mechanism of curvature generation is derived for the asymmetry in roller applied. And three dimensional numerical analyses are performed with realistic modeling of interactions between the rollers and work-piece using finite element program, ABAQUS. It is shown that curvature generation is mainly due to the difference of normal positive strain distribution between the top and bottom surface of the work-piece. And a convex-type curved plate is formed if the center region of the work-piece is rolled with asymmetric rollers of which the lower is larger than the upper in diameter.

  • The speed up of conventional lines feel strongly the necessity of it, for fully realizing a role of transportation system, for human life style is high, and increasing of time value. Especially curved lines zone have crucial effects on the speed of train. In this study, the extension method of transition curve is evaluated, based on the alignment of Jang-Hang line, investigated field conditions of the sections where the curves exist. The result of this research is very applicable to the condition where it is difficult to over-all alignment improvements.

Verifying of steering performance of the steering bogie (조향대차의 곡선선로 주행시 조향성능 검토)

  • When the train is running on the small curved line, there would be severe contact between the rail and wheels, which cause noise and vibration as well as abnormal wear on the rail and the wheels. In order to solve these problems, the steering bogie has been developed. To verify steering performance of the steering bogie, steering angles of two trains, one is the advanced EMU with the steering bogie, another is a conventional EMU with the conventional bogie, were measured while running on the small curve. this comparing test shows that the steering bogie has much higher steering performance than the conventional bogie on the same curved line. To verify more performance data of the steering bogie, further testing and monitoring will be done with the advanced EMU in the test track.
