Through-silicon via (TSV) technology provides much of the benefits seen in advanced packaging, such as three-dimensional integrated circuits and 3D packaging, with shorter interconnection paths for homo- and heterogeneous device integration. In TSV, a destructive cross-sectional analysis of an image from a scanning electron microscope is the most frequently used method for quality control purposes. We propose a quantitative evaluation method for TSV etch profiles whereby we consider sidewall angle, curvature profile, undercut, and scallop. A weighted sum of the four evaluated parameters, nominally total score (TS), is suggested for the numerical evaluation of an individual TSV profile. Uniformity, defined by the ratio of the standard deviation and average of the parameters that comprise TS, is suggested for the evaluation of wafer-to-wafer variation in volume manufacturing.
Let M be an n-dimensional $K{\ddot{a}}hler$ manifold with positive holomorphic bisectional curvature and let ${\Omega}{\Subset}M$ be a pseudoconvex domain of order $n-q$, $1{\leq}q{\leq}n$, with $C^2$ smooth boundary. Then, we study the (weighted) $\bar{\partial}$-equation with support conditions in ${\Omega}$ and the closed range property of ${\bar{\partial}}$ on ${\Omega}$. Applications to the ${\bar{\partial}}$-closed extensions from the boundary are given. In particular, for q = 1, we prove that there exists a number ${\ell}_0$ > 0 such that the ${\bar{\partial}}$-Neumann problem and the Bergman projection are regular in the Sobolev space $W^{\ell}({\Omega})$ for ${\ell}$ < ${\ell}_0$.
The analysis of nonlinear vibrations, buckling, post-buckling, flutter boundary determination and post-flutter behavior of a homogeneous curved plate assuming cylindrical bending is conducted in this article. Other assumptions include simply-supported boundary conditions, supersonic aerodynamic flow at the top of the plate, constant pressure conditions below the plate, non-viscous flow model (using first- and third-order piston theory), nonlinear structural model with large deformations, and application of mechanical and thermal loads on the curved plate. The analysis is performed with constant environmental indicators (flow density, heat, Reynolds number and Mach number). The material properties (i.e., coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity) are temperature-dependent. The equations are derived using the principle of virtual displacement. Furthermore, based on the definitions of virtual work, the potential and kinetic energy of the final relations in the integral form, and the governing nonlinear differential equations are obtained after fractional integration. This problem is solved using two approaches. The frequency analysis and flutter are studied in the first approach by transferring the handle of ordinary differential equations to the state space, calculating the system Jacobin matrix and analyzing the eigenvalue to determine the instability conditions. The second approach discusses the nonlinear frequency analysis and nonlinear flutter using the semi-analytical solution of governing differential equations based on the weighted residual method. The partial differential equations are converted to ordinary differential equations, after which they are solved based on the Runge-Kutta fourth- and fifth-order methods. The comparison between the results of frequency and flutter analysis of curved plate is linearly and nonlinearly performed for the first time. The results show that the plate curvature has a profound impact on the instability boundary of the plate under supersonic aerodynamic loading. The flutter boundary decreases with growing thermal load and increases with growing curvature.
A traditional average smoothing method is designed for smoothing out noise, which, however, unintentionally results in smooth corner points on the curvature accompanied with a shrinkage of curves. In this paper, we propose a novel curve smoothing method via polygonal approximation of the input curve. The proposed method determines the smoothing weight for each point of the input curve based on the angle and approximation error between the approximated polygon and the input curve. The weight constrains a displacement of the point after smoothing not to significantly exceed the average noise error of the region. In the experiment, we observed that the resulting smoothed curve is close to the original curve since the point moves toward the average position of the noise after smoothing. As an application to digital cartography, for the same amount of smoothing, the proposed method yields a less area reduction even on small curve segments than the existing smoothing methods.
In an attempt to solve multiobjective optimization problems, weighted sum method is most widely used for the advantage that a designer can consider the relative significance of each object functions by weight values but it can be highly sensitive to weight vector and occasionally yield a deviated optimum from the relative weighting values designer designated because the multiobjective function has the form of simple sum of the product of the weighting values and the object functions in traditional approach. To search the design solution agree well to the designer's weighting values, we proposed new multiobjective function which was the functional of each normalized objective functions and considered to find the design solution comparing the distance between the characteristic line and the ideal optimum. In this study, proposed multiobjective function was applied to design high efficiency and low noise axial flow fan and the result shows this approach is effective for the case that the quality of the design can be highly affected by the designer's subjectiveness represented as weighting values in multiobjective design optimization process.
This paper presents a novel time-domain method for the identification of plastic rotations and stiffness parameters of single-bay frames with nonlinear plastic hinges. Each plastic hinge is modelled as a pseudo-semi-rigid connection with nonlinear hysteretic moment-curvature characteristics at an element end. Through the comparison of the identified end rotations of members that are connected together, the plastic rotation that furnishes information of the locations and plasticity degrees of plastic hinges can be identified. The force consideration of the frame members may be used to relate the stiffness parameters to the elastic rotations and the excitation. The damped-least-squares method and damped-and-weighted-least-squares method are adopted to estimate the stiffness parameters of frames. A noise-removal strategy employing a de-noising technique based on wavelet packets with a smoothing process is used to filter out the noise for the parameter estimation. The numerical examples show that the proposed method can identify the plastic rotations and the stiffness parameters using measurements with reasonable level of noise. The unknown excitation can also be estimated with acceptable accuracy. The advantages and disadvantages of both parameter estimation methods are discussed.

Implicit surfaces are geometric shapes which are defined by implicit functions and exist in three-dimensional space. Recently, implicit surfaces have received much attention in solid modeling applications because they are easy to represent the location of points and to use boolean operations. However, it is difficult to chart points on implicit surfaces for rendering. As efficient rendering method of implicit surfaces, the original Adaptively Sampled Distance Fields (ADFs) $method^{[1]}$ is to use sampled distance fields which subdivide the three dimensional space of implicit surfaces into many cells with high sampling rates in regions where the distance field contains fine detail and low sampling rates where the field varies smoothly. In this paper, in order to maintain the sharp features efficiently with small number of cells, an extended ADFs method is proposed, applying the Dual/Primal mesh optimization $method^{[2]}$ to the original ADFs method. The Dual/Primal mesh optimization method maintains sharp features, moving the vertices to tangent plane of implicit surfaces and reconstructing the vertices by applying a curvature-weighted factor. The proposed extended ADFs method is applied to several examples of implicit surfaces to evaluate the efficiency of the rendering performance.

We conduct the research for reducing aeroacoustic noise occurred when a vehicle operates in high speed situation without modifying the structural configuration such as deforming A-pillar's side curvature. We introduce PAU (Pneumatic Auxiliary Unit) which is a sort of air duct using intake air through radiator grill. According to our research, we can reduce overall noise levels around the surface of HSM (Hyundai Simplified Model). When a vehicleruns 100km/s, area-weighted acoustic power level (AWAPL) indicates 33dB without PAU. However with PAU, coverall AWAPL is decreased to 29dB which means we can improvesilentness approximately 12% compared to ordinary case. Moreover we conduct similar implementation to steering situation especially about yawing. In varioussituations, -10, 0, 10 degree of yawing, we observe 10% reduction in the upstream region of HSM but little increase in downstream region. It seems that inlet air overlap turbulent kinetic energy to surrounding flow. Even though downstream region's noise is louder than upstream region, overall AWAPL is still lower than conventional condition. We also apply this scheme to the real vehicle situation, then we get reasonable output which can support our research outputs.

During the feasibility study of new rail lines, maintenance cost of railway infrastructure has mostly been estimated based on the track length and on simplified parameters; however, the estimation reliability can be improved by employing the correction factor from UIC 715, as well as the line classification in UIC 714. The correlations between maintenance cost and various parameters such as weighted track length based on line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn -out rate have been analyzed according to the case studies. Prediction of the maintenance cost has been carried out using the cost data, which were representative of the whole cost data; as a result, it was demonstrated that a cost model based on the line classification and the correction factor was more reliable than the existing models. Furthermore, possibilities of using data from both the track measurement vehicle and from the maintenance information system, which are under development, have been investigated and, based on this investigation, a combined cost model using line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn-out rate, among other factors, will be proposed in the near future.
