  • A new type of monopole antenna whit broadband characteristics is presented in this article. To reduce the size of the antenna, its upper part is folded. By separating the current flow, the resonance in the shorter part is in the higher band; and the longer part resonates in the lower band. This gives the broadband characteristics of the antenna. Slots on the corner using an oblique line improve the impedance matching and bandwidth. The measurement results show that the bandwidth operates from 0.848~0.992 GHz and 1.744~2.528 GHz, and the radiation patterns are in an omni-directional shape.

  • A digital technique is adopted to calibrate the current mismatch of the charge pump (CP) in phase-locked loops. A 2 GHz charge pump PLL (CPPLL) is used to justify the proposed calibration technique. The proposed digital calibration technique is implemented simply using a counter. The proposed calibration technique reduces the calibration time by up to a maximum of 50% compared other with techniques. Also by using a dual-mode CP, good current matching characteristics can be achieved to compensate $0.5{\mu}A$ current mismatch in CP. It was designed in a standard $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The maximum calibration time is $33.6{\mu}s$ and the average power is 18.38mW with 1.5V power supply and effective area is $0.1804mm^2$.

  • This paper presents a wide-frequency-range, low-power transceiver with an automatic impedance-matching calibration for TV-white-space (TVWS) application. The wide-range automatic impedance matching calibration (AIMC) is proposed for the Drive Amplifier (DA) and LNA. The optimal $S_{22}$ and $S_{11}$ matching capacitances are selected in the DA and LNA, respectively. Also, the Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch is integrated to share the antenna and matching network between the transmitter and receiver, thereby minimizing the systemic cost. An N-path filter is proposed to reject the large interferers in the TVWS frequency band. The current-driven mixer with a 25% duty LO generator is designed to achieve the high-gain and low-noise figures; also, the frequency synthesizer is designed to generate the wide-range LO signals, and it is used to implement the FSK modulation with a programmable loop bandwidth for multi-rate communication. The TVWS transceiver is implemented in $0.13{\mu}m$, 1-poly, 6-metal CMOS technology. The die area of the transceiver is $4mm{\times}3mm$. The power consumption levels of the transmitter and receiver are 64.35 mW and 39.8 mW, respectively, when the output-power level of the transmitter is +10 dBm at a supply voltage of 3.3 V. The phase noise of the PLL output at Band 2 is -128.3 dBc/Hz with a 1 MHz offset.

  • In this paper, we propose the novel cost functions for finding the disparity between the left and the right images in the stereo matching problem. The dynamic programming method is used in solving the stereo matching problem by Cox et al[10]. In the reference[10], only the intensity of the pixels in the epipolar line is used as the cost functions to find the corresponding pixels. We propose the two new cost functions. The information of the slope of the pixel is introduced to the constraints in determining the weights of intensity and direction(the historical information). The pixels with the higher slope are matched mainly by the intensity of pixels. As the slope becomes lower, the matching is performed mainly by the direction. Secondly, the disparity information of the previous epipolar line the pixel is used to find the disparity of the current epipolar line. If the pixel in the left epipolar line, $p-i$ and the pixel in the right epipolar line, $p-j$ satisfy the following conditions, the higher matching probability is given to the pixels, $p-i$ and $p-j$. i) The pixels, $p-i$ and $p-j$ are the pixles on the edges in the left and the right images, respectively. ⅱ) For the pixels $p-k$ and $p-l$ in the previous epipolar line, $p-k$and $p-l$ are matched and are the pixels on the same edge with $p-i$ and $p-j$, respectively. The proposed method compared with the original method[10] finds the better matching results for the test images.

  • Performance assessment is one of the authentic assessment method that are consistent with new curriculum goal, concentrated on the process rather than the results of problem solving. But the key to good assessment is matching the assessment task to intended objectives. Based on the review of literatures, the current performance assessment task was critically analysed. As a result, this study developed appropriate model and criteria of performance assessment task to elementary mathematics.

  • A high-precision pre-amplifier is designed for general use in EEG measurement system. It consists of signal generator, signal amplifier with a impedance converter, shield driver, body driver, differential amplifier, and isolation amplifier. The combination of minimum use of inaccurate passive components and the appropriate matching of each monolithic amplifiers results in good noise behavior, low leakage current, high CMRR, high input impedance, and high IMRR. The performance of EEG pre-amplifier has been verified by showing the typical EEG pattevn of a nomad person through the clinical experiments.

  • This paper showed that theoretical site attenuation curves were obtained simply by the method of moments analysis for current integral equations on antennas. Since the expansion coefficients of driving and receiving points were calculated from the method of moments procedure, site attenuations were evaluated simply using these basic antenna parameters. Theoretical site attenuations were calculated with half-wave resonant dipoles connected directly to a 50 ohm receiving system and connected to a 72/50 ohm matching network, respectively. Results were compared with other theoretical studies reported so far. Also included were experimental results for site attenuations to prove the validity of theoretical analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose a high gain, current reused ultra wideband (UWB) low noise amplifier (LNA) that uses TSMC 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. To satisfy the wide input matching and high voltage gain requirements with low power consumption, a resistive current reused technique is utilized in the first stage. A ${\pi}$-type LC network is adopted in the second stage to achieve sufficient gain over the entire frequency band. The proposed UWB LNA has a voltage gain of 12.9~18.1 dB and a noise figure (NF) of 4.05~6.21 dB over the frequency band of interest (1~10 GHz). The total power consumption of the proposed UWB LNA is 10.1 mW from a 1.4 V supply voltage, and the chip area is $0.95{\times}0.9$ mm.

  • An online estimation method for wireless power transfer (WPT) systems is presented without using any measurement of the secondary side or the load. This parameter estimation method can be applied with a controlling strategy that removes both the receiving terminal controller and the wireless communication. This improves the reliability of the system while reducing its costs and size. In a wireless power transfer system with an LCCL impedance matching circuit under a rectifier load, the actual load value, voltage/current and mutual inductance can be reflected through reflected impedance measuring at the primary side. The proposed method can calculate the phase angle tangent value of the secondary loop circuit impedance via the reflected impedance, which is unrelated to the mutual inductance. Then the load value can be determined based on the relationships between the load value and the secondary loop impedance. After that, the mutual inductance and transfer efficiency can be computed. According to the primary side voltage and current, the load voltage and current can also be detected in real-time. Experiments have verified that high estimation accuracy can be achieved with the proposed method. A single-controller based on the proposed parameter estimation method is established to achieve constant current control over a WPT system.
