The roll- and pitch-induced eddy currents create a magnetic field that contributes to the total magnetic signature of naval vessels. The magnetic signature is of concern, as it exposes the ship to the threat of modern influence mines. It is estimated that the eddy current is the second most important source contributing to a ship's underwater magnetic field following the ferromagnetic effect. In the present paper, the finite element (FE) method is used to predict the eddy current signature of a real ship. The FE model is validated using the measurements of the Canadian research vessel CFAV QUEST at the Earth's Field Simulator (EFS) in Schirnau, Germany. Modeling and validation of the eddy current magnetic signature for a real ship represents a novelty in the field. It is shown that the characteristics of this signature depend on frequency. Based on these results, a ship's degaussing system could be improved to cancel both the ferromagnetic and the eddy current contribution to the magnetic signature simultaneously, reducing the susceptibility to sea mines.

The motor current signature provides an important source of the information for the faults diagnosis of three-phase induction motor. The theoretical principles behind the generation of unique signal characteristics, which are indicative of failure mechanisms, are Presented. The fault detection techniques that can be used to diagnose mechanical Problems, stator and rotor winding failure mechanisms, and air-gap eccentricity are described. A theoretical analysis is presented which predicts the presence of unique signature patterns in the current that are only characteristics of the fault. The predictions are verified by experimental results from a special fault Producing test rig and on-site tests in a steel company. And this study have made new diagnostic algorithm for the operating induction motors with the test results. These developments are including the use of monitoring and analysis of electric current to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and gave the precise test results automatically.
In this paper, a novel analog signature scheme is proposed by modifying an RSA-based digital signature scheme with optical phase-shifting digital holography. The purpose of the proposed method is generating an analog signature to provide data confidentiality and security during the data transfer, compared to the digital signature. The holographic encryption technique applied to a hash value reveals an analog-type of pseudo-random pattern in the analog signature scheme. The public key and secret key needed to verify the analog signature are computed from public key ciphers which are generated by the same holographic encryption. The proposed analog signature scheme contains a kind of double encryption in the process of generating signature and key, which enhances security level more than the digital signature. The results of performance simulations show the feasibility of the highly secure signature scheme, and security analysis shows high robustness against known-message attacks and chosen-message attacks. In addition, the proposed method can apply to one-time signature schemes which can be used to sign only one message and it can also apply to authentication, e-mails, electronic banking and electronic data interchange.

The underwater electromagnetic signatures of a naval ship are mainly generated from three sources which are the permanent and induced magnetic field in the ship's hull and other ferrous components, the cathodic current electromagnetic field established by the Impressed Current Cathodic Protection(ICCP) system or the Sacrificial Anode and the stray electromagnetic fields generated by onboard equipment. These signatures can be minimized by certain design methods or installation of signature reduction equipment. In this paper, we represented the characteristic of the underwater electromagnetic signature and the signature reduction techniques for a naval ship. Also, we measured the electromagnetic field changes emitted from the real ship using the Electric and Magnetic field Measurement System(EMMS). We found that the underwater electromagnetic signature for a naval ship can be used as input or trigger signal in a surveillance system and an influence mine.

With the development of quantum computers, ring signature schemes based on large integer prime factorization, discrete logarithm problem, and bilinear pairing are under threat. For this reason, we design a ring signature scheme based on lattice with a fixed verification key. Compared with the previous ring signature scheme based on lattice, our design has a fixed verification key and does not disclose the signer's identity. Meanwhile, we propose an anonymous electronic voting scheme by using our ring signature scheme based on lattice and (t, n) threshold scheme, which makes up for the lack of current anonymous electronic voting that cannot resist attacks of the quantum computer. Finally, under standard model (SM), we prove that our ring signature scheme based on lattice is anonymous against the full-key exposure, and existentially non-forgeable against insider corruption. Furthermore, we also briefly analyze the security of our anonymous electronic voting scheme.

The unexpected failure of the induction motor makes the downtime of production, and the cost of the process cessation enormous. To reduce the downtime and increase the reliability of the motor, the vibration measurements for the fault detection have been used previously. Recently motor current signature analysis(MCSA) has been adapted for the fault detection and diagnosis of the motors. MCSA provides a powerful analysis tool for detecting the presence of mechanical and electrical faults in both the motor and driven equipment. In this paper, the fault severity of the rotor bar has been derived in terms of the resistance change which is calculated from the equivalent circuit model. Results show that the fault of the rotor can be easily detected and the measured value of the resistance change is verified by the detected fault from on-site tests using MCSA for the induction motors in an iron foundry.
The galvanic corrosion of a vessel, or systems fitted to minimize the ship's corrosion such as ICCP(Impressed Current Cathodic Protection) system and sacrificial anodes, can lead to significant electrical current flow in the sea. The presence of vessel's current sources associated with corrosion will give rise to detectable electric field surrounding the vessel and can put it at risk from mine threats. For this reason, it is necessary to design corrosion protection systems so that they don't only prevent a hull corrosion but also minimize the electric field signature. In this paper, we describe theoretical backgrounds of underwater electric field signature due to corrosion and corrosion protection system on naval vessels and analysis results of the electric field according to ICCP anode arrangement.

Induction motors are the workhorse of our industry because of their versatility and robustness. The diagnosis of mechanical load and power transmission system failures is usually carried out through mechanical signals such as vibration signatures, acoustic emissions, motor speed envelope. The motor faults including mechanical rotor imbalances, broken rotor bar, bearing failure and eccentricities problems are reflected in electric, electromagnetic and mechanical quantities. The recent research has been directed toward electrical monitoring of the motor with emphasis on inspecting the stator current of the motor, The stator current spectrum has been widely used for fault detection in induction motor systems. The motor current signature analysis is the useful technique to assess machine electrical condition. This paper describes the motor condition detected by the current signatures Paralleled with vibration signatures analysis of induction motors with the roller bearing and the journal bearing type for large vertical pumps in power plant as examples to discuss for motor fault detection and diagnosis.
In general, to send out natural gas via a pipeline network across the nation in LNG terminal, high-pressure cryogenic pump supply highly compressed LNG to high-pressure vaporization facilities. The Number of cryogenic pumps determined the send-out amount in LNG receiving terminal. So it is main equipment at LNG production process and should be maintained on best conditions. In this paper, to find out the cause of high vibration at cryogenic pumps-motor system in LNG terminal, vibration spectrum analysis and motor current signature analysis have been performed together. Through the analysis, motor rotor bar problems are estimated by the vibration analysis and confirmed by the current analysis. So, it is demonstrated through the case study in this paper, how performing vibration analysis and current signature analysis together can reliable diagnosis rotor bar problems in pump-motor system.

A study on motor current signature analysis has been executed for monitoring the fault of journal bearing due to wear. The air gap eccentricity of motor produces specific frequencies in motor current, the supplied current frequency plus and minus rotational rotor frequency. The air gap eccentricity is simulated by the clearance of Journal bearing. The amplitudes of the specific frequencies increase with the increasing clearances. The amplitudes of the specific frequencies continue to increase over the wear limit that is used in the manufacturer of the test motor. Though clear relations between the amplitudes of the specific frequencies and the clearances are not obtained in this paper, the specific frequencies can be used as an indicator of a journal bearing fault. Further study is necessary to make out the quantitative relations between the specific frequencies and the clearances.
