Adaptive Radio Resource Allocation for a Mobile Packet Service in Multibeam Satellite Systems

  • In this paper, we introduce an adaptive radio resource allocation for IP-based mobile satellite services. We also present a synchronous multibeam CDMA satellite system using an orthogonal resource sharing mechanism among downlink beams for the adaptive packet transmission. The simulation results, using a Ka-band mobile satellite channel and various packet scheduling schemes, show that the proposed system and resource allocation scheme improves the beam throughput by more than two times over conventional systems. The simulation results also show that, in multibeam satellite systems, a system-level adaptation to a user's channel and interference conditions according to user locations and current packet traffic is more efficient in terms of throughput improvement than a user-level adaptation.

Consignment Review: Investigation into Its Potential as a Supply Chain Collaboration Program

  • Purpose - This study aims to show that consignments can enable supply chain collaboration, based on the review of selected studies, and aims to investigate its potential to be a better collaboration program, through an analytical comparison with other collaboration initiatives. Research design, data, and methodology - This study uses a literature review on selected studies that researched consignments. In addition, based on the proposed framework, the current consignment process and other well-known collaboration programs are analyzed in terms of three key collaboration aspects. Results - Most studies employ simple research in terms of their purpose and methodology. An analysis with the proposed framework indicates the potential of consignments to foster supply chain collaboration. Conclusions - Based on the literature review, this study suggests that future research needs to aim for diverse research goals and conduct sophisticated research on consignments. An analysis with the proposed framework shows that consignments would be more effective for supply chain collaboration if active information sharing and joint decision-making are implemented.

A Case Study of Resolving Conflict in Energy Infrastructure Siting by the Solar PV Project

  • The growing demand for new energy infrastructure has often been encountered with the difficulties of siting in power plants and electric transmission lines. Siting such large-scale and complex facilities produces so many-sided issues that it is highly necessary to develop an approach to resolving the related problems and conflicts. This paper introduces how the stakeholders have handled the issues and resolved conflicts with residents opposed the construction of 765 kV transmission line. The solar photovoltaic power generation, called "Hee-Mang Sunlight Power project", is used for persuading residents to agree with constructing high-voltage transmission line and sharing benefits. It is considered how the project performance such as generation output and resident's profits is and proposed what the project should be revised and supplement. The project is shown that the intractable spiting in energy systems can be smartly resolved with cost-effective institutional solutions instead of relatively expensive technical ones.

조선 PLM 환경에서 경량 CAD 모델에 대한 요구사항 분석 및 적용 사례 (Requirement Analysis on Lightweight CAD Models in Ship PLM Environment and Its Application Examples)

  • Introduction of PLM in domestic shipyards is being retarded as ship PLM has yet to firm up return of investment and process integration. To implement a ship PLM system, it is required to share ship CAD model data in various design and manufacturing environments. Lightweight CAD models provide a promising solution for sharing CAD models in the product life cycle, which can expedite implementation of ship PLM in domestic shipyards in the near future. Compared to proprietary CAD models, it is easy for lightweight CAD models to be interfaced with various application systems and be connected to manufacturing information. In this paper, the reason why lightweight CAD models are necessary to implement a ship PLM system is addressed and current implementation results are introduced.

Comparisons of internal self-field magnetic flux densities between recent Nb3Sn fusion magnet CICC cable designs

  • The Cable-In-Conduit-Conductor (CICC) for the ITER tokamak Central Solenoid (CS) has undergone design change since the first prototype conductor sample was tested in 2010. After tests showed that the performance of initial conductor samples degraded rapidly without stabilization, an alternate design with shorter sub-cable twist pitches was tested and discovered to satisfy performance requirements, namely that the minimum current sharing temperature ($T_{cs}$) remained above a given limit under DC bias. With consistent successful performance of ITER CS conductor CICC samples using the alternate design, an attempt is made here to revisit the internal electromagnetic properties of the CICC cable design to identify any correlation with conductor performance. Results of this study suggest that there may be a simple link between the $Nb_3Sn$ CICC internal self-field and its $T_{cs}$ performance. The study also suggests that an optimization process should exist that can further improve the performance of $Nb_3Sn$ based CICC.

  • Interleaved 컨버터의 경우 전류 리플을 줄여 출력 필터의 사이즈를 줄이기 위해 많이 사용된다. 하지만 모듈간 소자값의 편차가 발생할 경우 전류 불평형을 초래하게 되며, 이는 리플저감효과를 감소시키거나 방열문제, 노화촉진, 그리고 오동작을 일으킬 가능성을 높이게 한다. 특히 공진형 컨버터의 경우 주파수 제어를 시도하기 때문에 Interleaving 기법을 적용하여 효용성을 얻기에는 제약이 많다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 소자값의 불일치로 인한 전류 불평형 문제를 해결하기 위해 위상천이변조 제어를 제안한다. 동작원리와 시스템에 대한 분석을 제시하고, 모의실험을 통해 타당성을 검증한다.

  • 본 논문은 스위칭 주파수 스펙트럼 분석에 기반한 모듈형 병렬 양방향 DC-DC 컨버터의 전류분배 제어방법을 제안한다. 병렬 DC-DC 컨버터 각 모듈의 전류분배 균일도 향상은 동작안정성 확보, 효율 및 신뢰성 향상을 위해 매우 중요한 요소이다. 드룹 제어의 적용을 통해 별도의 통신연결 없이 각 병렬모듈간 전류 분배량 제어가 가능하지만, 선로 저항의 차이나 측정 소자의 편차가 발생할 경우 각 모듈간 균일한 전류분배가 어려운 문제가 존재한다. 각 모듈간 전류분배를 위해 각 개별모듈의 입력 전류에 존재하는 스위칭 주파수 성분만을 분석하여 병렬 모듈 사이의 전류분배 차이를 검출하고, 그 차이를 최소화 하도록 드룹 이득을 단계적으로 조절하는 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 제어 알고리즘은 에너지 저장장치와 연계된 380V급 DC 배전 시스템 모델을 대상으로 검증하였다.

비선형 모델기반 SRM의 고효율 직접 순시토크 제어 (A High Efficiency Direct Instantaneous Torque Control of SRM based on the Nonlinear Model)

  • This paper presents a high efficiency direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) of Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) based on the nonlinear model. The DITC method can reduce the high inherent torque ripple of SRM drive system, but drive efficiency is somewhat low due to the high current and switching loss during commutations. In order to reduce a torque ripple, a fast torque reference trajectory is selected at every instantaneous rotor position. Based on the nonlinear model of SRM, the developing torque by one phase is fixed and the other phase is regulated for minimum switchings of phase switch and variation of torque. The switching during commutation can be reduced and fast commutation can be obtained in the proposed method. As a result, drive efficiency could be improved as well as torque ripple reduction. The validity of proposed method is verified by computer simulations and comparative experiments.

  • In this paper, to solve the defect of stand-alone type power system in a remote area, a hybrid power system with photovoltaic/wind/diesel generators is proposed. A hybrid power system has a power-balanced controller to equilibrate generation power with a given load demand and which is composed of common DC power system. To execute a power-balanced control, a hybrid power system is assumed that all of power generators have the characteristics of an equivalent current-source and load sharing control technique must be needed at the same time. So this paper describes the algorithm of interactive technique for design of a hybrid power system.

  • Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite (KOMPSAT) uses software-controlled unregulated bus system In which the main bus is directly connected to a battery and the duty-ratio for PWM switch is generated by the on-board satellite software algorithm. In this paper, we propose a new power-stage circuit that can be available for modularization of a solar array regulator(SAR) which is used in the KOMPSAT. The operations at each mode and current sharing characteristics of the power-stage are analyzed and verified by simulation and experiments on a prototype converter.
