  • This paper describes an early detection for indication of electric accident using current waveform which is measured in electric equipments consisted incandescent lamps. At first, it analyzes characteristics of current monitor in resistive electric circuit. In second, the electric equipment is consisted of incandescent lamps. And the electric accident is simulation of tracking according to KS C IEC(Korea Standard C International Electrostatic Commission) 60112 at some part of the electric equipment. The indication of the electrical accident is detected to analyzing current waveform measured by current monitor. As the tracking breakdown, electric accident, processes, as current pulse is bigger and ratio of appearance also is increased irrespective of amount of load.

  • In this paper, in order to reduce the electrical disaster such as electrical fire at traditional markets, we need to develop the circuit breaker which is able to monitor the power status of electrical equipments. Therefore, for solving the those problems, we developed the detection censor(ZCT, CT) and equipment of data analysis and transmission. The detection censor and equipment is able to monitor the electrical equipments condition(over current, leakage current, arc, etc.). We constructed Test-Bed for testing reliability of the circuit breaker and obtained certification. And we tested the over current, leakage current and arc under the normal condition. This paper will be used to the data for development an cabinet panel which is able to monitor the actual loads.

  • We made the beam crosssectional monitor system which was possible to display the ion beam crosssection extracted from accelerator on personal computer monitor. Previous beam profile monitor system could detect the central beam position with limited low beam current, but this developed beam crosssectional monitor system could operate at the relatively higher beam current. In addition we realized the real time data taking system by adopting the VXI system for beam size, central position and crosssection.

  • To monitor the torque of an induction motor using current, rotating speed has been measured and used to calculate the slip angular velocity. Additional sensor, however, can cause extra expense and trouble. In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed to monitor the torque of vector controlled induction motor without any speed measuring sensor. Only stator current is measured to estimate the magnetizing current which is used to calculate flux linkage, rotor velocity and motor torque. Graphical programming is used to implement the suggested algorithm and to monitor the torque of an induction motor in real time. To solve the fluctuation problem of estimated torque caused from instantly varying rotating speed of an induction motor, the rotating speed is reconstructed based on the measured current signals. From several experiments, the proposed method shows a good estimation of the motor torque under the normal rotational speed.

  • The current waveform was analysed to monitor the weld quality in real time process. The acquired current waveform was discretely analysed for the top and bottom limits of peaks as well as the pulse frequency measurement. Fast Fourier Transform was implemented in the program to monitor the pulse frequency in real time. The developed algorithm or program was tested for the validation purpose. The cross-section of weld profile was compared to the current waveform profile to correlate the monitored signal and the actual parts. Pulse frequency was also used as auxiliary tool for the quality monitoring. Based on the results, it was possible to evaluate the quality of welding by measure the current waveform profile and frequency measurement.

  • In this research a monitoring system for turning using NC information and the current of feed motor as a monitoring signal was developed. The overall system consists of modules such as learning process, NC data transmission, generation of forecast information, signal acquisition, monitoring and post process. In the learning process, the reference data and the cutting force equation necessary for monitoring are obtained from the accumulated monitoring results. In the generation of forecast information, the information of forecasted cutting forces is acquired from the cutting force equation and NC program and appended to each NC block as a monitor code. Reliability of monitoring is improved by using the monitor code in the real-time monitoring. Monitoring module is divided into two parts : the off-line monitoring where errors of NC program are checked and the on-line monitoring where the level of motor current is monitored during cutting operations. If the actual current level exceeds the limit value provided by the monitor code in the level monitoring, it is recognized as abnormal. In the event of abnormal status, the post processor sends the emergency stop signal to NC controller to stop the operation. Actual experiments have shown that the developed monitoring system works well.

  • In the Pohang Light Source (PLS), a major upgrade (PLS-II) of existing machine had been performed in last 3 years. Big improvements in beam parameters are expected from this major upgrade and various diagnostic instruments were installed to measure them. These include beam position monitor, beam current monitor, tune monitor, scraper, beam loss monitor, photon beam monitor, beam size monitor, streak camera, and so on. In this work, we would like to briefly introduce diagnostic instruments of the PLS-II and present measurement results in the commissioning process of the PLS-II.

  • By varying the beam current of a color CRT(cathode ray tube) monitor, the misconvergence, spot size, display luminance, and chromaticity coordinate of a white pattern were measured at 4 screen positions. The misconvergence was measured with a linear CCD (charge coupled-device). The resolution was obtained by using SQRI (square root integral) method. The misconvergence of a color monitor was not influenced by the beam current but by the screen position. The misconvergence on a screen perimeter caused the resolution to decrease.

  • Coronal Mass Ejections (CME), which originate from active regions of the Sun's surface, e.g., sunspots, result in geomagnetic storms on Earth. The variation of the Earth's geomagnetic field during such storms induces surface currents that could cause breakdowns in electricity power grids. Hence, it is essential to both monitor Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GICs) in real time and analyze previous GIC data. In 2012, in order to monitor the variation of GICs, the Korean Space Weather Center (KSWC) installed an induced current measurement system at SINGAPYEONG Substation, which is equipped with 765 kV extra-high-voltage transformers. Furthermore, in 2014, two induced current measurement systems were installed on the 345 kV high-voltage transformers at the MIGEUM and SINPOCHEON substations. This paper reports the installation process of the induced current measurement systems at these three substations. Furthermore, it presents the results of both an analysis performed using GIC data measured at the SINGAPYEONG Substation during periods of geomagnetic storms from July 2013 through April 2015 and the comparison between the obtained GIC data and magnetic field variation (dH/dt) data measured at the Icheon geomagnetic observatory.
