A High-efficiency Method to Suppress Transformer Core Imbalance in Digitally Controlled Phase-shifted Full-bridge Converter

  • A high-efficiency method is proposed to suppress magnetic core imbalance in phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) converters. Compared with conventional solutions, such as controlling peak current mode (PCM) or adding DC blocking capacitance, the proposed method has several advantages, such as lower power loss and smaller size, because the additional current sensor or blocking capacitor is removed. A time domain model of the secondary side is built to analyze the relationship between transformer core imbalance and cathode voltage of secondary side rectifiers. An approximate control algorithm is designed to achieve asymmetric phase control, which reduces the effects of imbalance. A 60 V/15 A prototype is built to verify the proposed method. Experimental results show that the numerical difference of primary side peak currents between two adjacent cycles is suppressed from 2 A to approximately 0 A. Meanwhile, compared with the PCM solution, the efficiency of the PSFB converter is slightly improved from 93% to 93.2%.

Dynamic interaction analysis of actively controlled maglev vehicles and guideway girders considering nonlinear electromagnetic forces

  • This study intends to explore dynamic interaction behaviors between actively controlled maglev vehicle and guideway girders by considering the nonlinear forms of electromagnetic force and current exactly. For this, governing equations for the maglev vehicle with ten degrees of freedom are derived by considering the nonlinear equation of electromagnetic force, surface irregularity, and the deflection of the guideway girder. Next, equations of motion of the guideway girder, based on the mode superposition method, are obtained by applying the UTM-01 control algorithm for electromagnetic suspension to make the maglev vehicle system stable. Finally, the numerical studies under various conditions are carried out to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the maglev system based on consideration of the linear and nonlinear electromagnetic forces. From numerical simulation, it is observed that the dynamic responses between nonlinear and linear analysis make little difference in the stable region. But unstable responses in nonlinear analysis under poor conditions can sometimes be obtained because the nominal air-gap is too small to control the maglev vehicle stably. However, it is demonstrated that this unstable phenomenon can be removed by making the nominal air-gap related to electromagnetic force larger. Consequently it is judged that the nonlinear analysis method considering the nonlinear equations of electromagnetic force and current can provide more realistic solutions than the linear analysis.

  • A pumped storage power station is an important means to solve the problem of peak load regulation and ensures the safety of power grid operation. The doubly fed variable-speed pumped storage (DFVSPS) system adopts a doubly fed induction machine (DFIM) to replace the synchronous machine used in traditional pumped storage. The stator of DFIM is connected to the power grid, and the three-phase excitation windings are symmetrically distributed on the rotor. Excitation current is supplied by the converter. The active and reactive power of the unit can be quickly adjusted by adjusting the amplitude, frequency, and phase of the rotor-side voltage or current through the converter. Compared with a conventional pumped storage hydropower station (C-PSH), DFVSPS power stations have various operating modes and frequent start-up and shutdown. This study introduces the structure and principle of the DFVSPS unit. Mathematical models of the unit, including a model of DFIM, a model of the pump-turbine, and a model of the converter and its control, are established. Fast power control strategies are proposed for the unit model. A 300 MW model of the DFVSPS unit is established in MATLAB/Simulink, and the response characteristics in generating mode are examined.

  • 본 논문은 WLAN에 이용되는 상위 6비트 온도계 코드의 전류원 셀 매트릭스와 중간 2비트 온도계 코드의 전류원, 그리고 하위 2비트 이진 가중치 코드의 서브 블록으로 구성된 10비트 210MHz의 CMOS 전류구동 디지털-아날로그 데이터 변환기(DAC)을 설계하였다. 제안된 새로운 글리치 억제회로는 입력된 신호의 교차되는 위치를 조절함으로써, 글리치 에너지를 최소화하도록 설계하였다. 또한 제안된 10비트 DAC는 CMOS $0.35{\mu}m$ 2-poly 4-metal 공정을 이용하여 설계하였으며, 유효 칩 면적은 5mm2이다. 제안된 10비트 DAC 칩의 측정결과, 변환속도는 210MHz, DNL/INL은 각각 ${\pm}0.7LSB/{\pm}1.1LSB$이며, 글리치 에너지는 $76pV{\cdot}sec$이고, SNR은 50dB, SFDR은 53dB((a)200MHz), 전력소비는 83mW((a)3.3V)로 측정되었다.

  • IEEE 802.11n 기반 무선 LAN과 IEEE 802.16e 기반 Mobile WiMAX에 적용할 수 있는 이중모드 직접 변환 수신기를 $0.13\;{\mu}m$ RF CMOS 공정을 이용하여 설계하였다. 설계된 직접 변환 수신기는 2.3-2.7 GHz의 주파수 범위에서 동작을 한다. 저잡음 증폭기에 Current Steering 기술을 사용하여 전체 이득의 크기를 3 단계로 조절이 가능하게 하였다. 플리커 잡음 영향을 낮추기 위해 믹서에 Current Bleeding 기술을 사용하였다. 믹서 LO를 위한 I/Q 위상 신호 발생을 위해 주파수 2-분주회로를 포함하였다. 제작된 직접 변환 수신기는 1.4V의 공급 전원에서 LO 버퍼를 포함하여 56 mA를 사용하며, 32 dB의 전력이득과 4.8dB의 잡음지수, 그리고 +6 dBm의 출력 $P_{1dB}$를 가진다.

PSCAD/EMTDC 프로그램을 이용한 제주 80kV HVDC 제어기 모델링 (Jeju 80kV HVDC Controller Modeling Using PSCAD/EMTDC Program)

  • 본 논문에서는 PSCAD/EMTDC 프로그램을 통해 제주 80kV Pilot HVDC 시스템을 구현하고 제어기를 모델링하였다. ac 계통 연계 시뮬레이션을 위해 제주 ac 계통을 축약하였으며, dc 계통 시뮬레이션을 위해 컨버터 변압기, 고조파 필터 및 dc 전송선로의 설계 파라미터를 적용하였다. HVDC 제어기는 컨버터의 운전모드에 따라 인버터 제어기와 정류기 제어기로 나뉘며, 인버터 제어기는 전류제어기, 전압제어기, 소호각 제어기로 구현하였고, 정류기의 제어기는 전류제어기 및 전압제어기로 구현하였다. 인버터와 컨버터의 V-I 특성곡선에 VDCOL을 적용하여 전압에 따른 전류의 의존 특성을 반영하였다. 제어기의 단위 응답, ac 계통 단상 지락 고장, 3상 지락 고장에 대해 시뮬레이션하여 설계한 제어기의 정상상태 및 과도상태시 동특성을 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 DTMOS(Dynamic Threshold voltage MOSFET) 스위칭 소자를 사용한 고 효율 전원 제어 장치 (PMIC)를 제안하였다. 높은 출력 전류에서 고 전력 효율을 얻기 위하여 PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) 제어 방식을 사용하여 PMIC를 구현하였으며, 낮은 온 저항을 갖는 DTMOS를 설계하여 도통 손실을 감소시켰다. 벅 컨버터(Buck converter) 제어 회로는 PWM 제어회로로 되어 있으며, 삼각파 발생기(Saw-tooth generator), 밴드갭기준 전압 회로(Band-gap reference circuit), 오차 증폭기(Error amplifier), 비교기(Comparator circuit)가 하나의 블록으로 구성되어 있다. 삼각파 발생기는 그라운드부터 전원 전압(Vdd:3.3V)까지 출력 진폭 범위를 갖는 1.2MHz 발진 주파수를 가지며, 비교기는 2단 연산 증폭기로 설계되었다. 그리고 오차 증폭기는 70dB의 DC gain과 $64^{\circ}$ 위상 여유를 갖도록 설계하였다. Voltage-mode PWM 제어 회로와 낮은 온 저항을 스위칭 소자로 사용하여 구현한 DC-DC converter는 100mA 출력 전류에서 95%의 효율을 구현하였으며, 1mA이하의 대기모드에서도 높은 효율을 구현하기 위하여 LDO를 설계하였다.

IMV를 이용한 굴착기 작업장치 궤적제어 (Trajectory Control of Excavator Actuators Using IMV)

  • The IMV is a combination of four two-way valve systems which replace a conventional four-way spool valve to improve efficiency mostly in excavator hydraulics. As the environmental regulations for construction equipment have tightened, some overseas advanced companies have released commercial excavators in which the MCV is implemented with the IMVs. Development of the IMV type MCV relies on the control algorithm as well as the robust performance of proportional flow control valves. In this study, the IMV controller was designed and verified with experiments for the excavator working unit, which determines the IMV mode of operation and the extent of the valve opening in consideration of the load conditions on hydraulic actuators. First, the open-loop controller was designed with a joystick command vs. a PSV reference current map comprising several control parameters in to compensate for the different flow characteristics and non-linearities of two-way flow control valves. Second, the closed-loop controller was designed with the PI control fed by the actuator displacement and outputs actuator percent effort equivalent to the operator's joystick command. Finally, the performance of the IMV type MCV was verified with the trajectory control of position references derived from the energy consumption test standard. Experimental results showed the control performance of the IMV developed in this study, and suggest that future studies to be conducted to advance technical progress.

  • The paper is proposed maximum torque control of SynRM drive using adaptive fuzzy neural network(A-FNN) controller and artificial neural network(ANN). For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current $i_d$ for maximum torque operation is derived. The proposed control algorithm is applied to SynRM drive system controlled A-FNN and ANN controller, the operating characteristics controlled by maximum torque control are examined in detail. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the A-FNN and ANN controller.
