Bi-directional DC-DC Converter Design and Control for step-up/step-down (승강압용 양방향 DC-DC컨버터 설계 및 제어)

  • The bi-directional converter interfaces the low voltage battery to the inverter do link of FC generation system. When power flows from the low voltage side(battery: 48[V]) to the high voltage side(dc link: 380[V]), the circuit works in discharge mode (boost) to power the high voltage side load; otherwise, it works in charge mode (buck) to charge the low voltage side battery. In this paper, the 1.5[kW] active clamp current-fed full bridge converter employing MOSFETs is operated to discharge the battery whereas a voltage-fed half bridge converter employing IGBTs is operated to charge the battery.

  • This paper proposes a novel network jitter estimation algorithm for robust VoIP communication system. The proposed method computes the current network environment mode using the differences of arrival time and generation time from sequential received packets. According to the current network environment mode, the jitter variance weights is adjusted to minimize the error for estimating the network jitter. The jitter average and variance are calculated by the autoregressive estimated algorithm, and then the network jitter is estimated by applying the jitter variance weights.

  • The application of shunt active power filters (S-APFs) is considered to be the most popular approach for harmonic compensation due to its high simplicity, ease of installation and efficient control. Its functionality mainly depends upon the rapidness and precision of its internally built control algorithms. A S-APF is generally operated in the current controlled mode (CCM) with the detection of harmonic load current. Its operation may not be appropriate for the distributed power generation system (DPGS) due to the wide dispersion of nonlinear loads. Despite the fact that the voltage detection based resistive-APF (R-APF) appears to be more appropriate for use in the DPGS, the R-APF experiences poor performance in terms of mitigating harmonics and parameter tuning. Therefore, this paper introduces a direct harmonic voltage detection based control approach for the S-APF that does not need a remote harmonic load current since it only requires a local point of common coupling (PCC) voltage for the detection of harmonics. The complete design procedure of the proposed control approach is presented. In addition, experimental results are given in detail to validate the performance and superiority of the proposed method over the conventional R-APF control. Thus, the outcomes of this study approve the predominance of the discussed strategy.

  • Integrated switched reluctance motor drive as an electric vehicle battery charger is presented in this paper. The SRM, which is used as the traction power in the driving mode, is used in the charge circuit to improve the power factor of charging system. The charging circuit can share the power switches of the asymmetric converter and phase windings of SRM to charge the battery, and can reduce the size and cost of the system in the plug-in system. To keep the rotor at standstill, zero torque control method is proposed. Since the inductances of the SRM windings are not same at any stop position, the charger controller controls the reference current to satisfy the total charging current with PFC and zero torque condition. A novel cubic equation method is proposed as a current reference distributor of the charging controller. Simulations are performed by MATLAB software and results satisfy the Effectiveness of proposed battery charging system.

  • This paper introduces the modified slip energy recovery system in order to improve its power factor and to reduce harmonics of line current waveforms. Twelve pulse line commutated converter with the chopper type IGBT is applied where the chopper is applied across the DC terminal and the chopped DC is fed to the converter operating as an inverter and then passed through the wye-wye and delta-wye transformer circuit. This scheme leads to be able to adjust the speed of the motor by the duty cycle of the chopper operating in PWM mode. The fuzzy logic controller is also introduced to the modified slip energy recovery system for keeping the motor speed to be constant when the load varies. The experimental results in testing the 0.22 kW wound rotor induction motor from no-load condition to rated condition show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • Switching power supply systems are widely used in many industrial fields. Power factor correction (PFC) circuits have a tendency to be applied in new power supply designs. The PFC circuit with a boost converter using an input power source is studied in this paper. In a boost PFC circuit, there are two feedback control loops: a current feedback loop and a voltage feedback loop. In this paper, the regulation performance gained by using the output voltage and compensator to improve the transient response presented at the continuous conduction mode (CCM) of the boost PFC circuit is analyzed. The validity of the designed boost PFC circuit is confirmed by both MATLAB simulation and experimental results.

  • In this paper, we develop a sliding mode controller that uses a nonlinear sliding manifold for the permanent magnet synchronous motor. The proposed controller makes sure that both currents and velocity tracking error converge into equilibria. Nonlinear sliding manifold consists of current dynamics and nonlinear functions which are designed with velocity tracking error and its integrated term. The nonlinear functions are designed to guarantee that velocity tracking error converge into zero. The closed-loop stability is proven by Lyapunov theory. The effectiveness of proposed method is demonstrated by numerical simulation results.

  • This paper presents circuit models and control algorithms of distributed generation system(DGS) which consists of Z-type converter and PWM inverter Z-type converter which employs both the L and C passive components and shoot-through zero vectors instead of the conventional DC/DC converter in order to step up DC-link voltage. Discrete time sliding mode control with the asymptotic observer is used for current control.

  • This paper gives a description of the mode'ling and control of a single phase PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) converter for HEMU-400X(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit - 400 km/h experiment). The converter is part of a Auxiliary power unit supplied by the 25[kV], 60[Hz] overhead line. A model of the converter in a synchronously rotating reference frame of coordinates is used to develop a new type of control. The control system has separate controllers for the active and reactive current, permitting the free choice of the power factor. This paper proposes a new control method of PWM converter for Auxiliary power unit.
