Some works about the current sensorless control of a synchronous reluctance motor have been presented. However, there is no analysis about the performance and the detuning effect of the current sensorless control. This paper presents the problems and the detuning effect of the current sensorless control of a synchronous reluctance motor by simulation results. In addition, torque limiter is proposed to limit the torque current within the torque limit.
Sinusoidal current tracking inverters have substantial advantages in high performance acdrive systems and various control strategies for the inverter have been proposed by several researchers. This paper develops a sinusoidal current tracking inverter with neural networks. The neural network are trained to follow a set of reference current waveforms by erro back propagation algorithm and the trained neural networks are applied to the current control. We compare neural networks method with conventional current control methods (fixed band and sinusiidal band hystersis methods) and simulation results are presented.
This paper proposes maximum torque control of IPMSM drive using optimal current. This control method is applicable over the entire speed range which considered the limits of the inverter's current and voltage rated value. For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current $i_d$ for maximum torque operation is derived. This paper considers the design and implementation of novel technique of high performance speed control for IPMSM using multi-MFC and ANN controller. Also, this paper proposes maximum control of IPMSM drive using approximation method. This method is decreased the burden of digital signal process(DSP) in calculation of optimal current. This paper proposes the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of the MFC and ANN controller. Also it verifies the validity of maximum torque control of IPMSM drive with optimal current.
The stability of PWM rectifiers with a deadbeat current controller is seriously influenced by computation time delays and low-pass filters inserted into the current-sampling circuit. Predictive current control is often adopted to solve this problem. However, grid current predictive precision is affected by many factors such as grid voltage estimated errors, plant model mismatches, dead time and so on. In addition, the predictive current error aggravates the grid current distortion. To improve the grid current predictive precision, an improved deadbeat current controller with a repetitive-control-based observer to predict the grid current is proposed in this paper. The design principle of the proposed observer is given and its stability is discussed. The predictive performance of the observer is also analyzed in the frequency domain. It is shown that the grid predictive error can be decreased with the proposed method in the related bode diagrams. Experimental results show that the proposed method can minimize the current predictive error, improve the current loop robustness and reduce the grid current THD of PWM rectifiers.
Four-quadrant converters (4QCs) are widely used as AC-DC power conversion interfaces in many areas. A control delay commonly exists in the digital implementation process of 4QCs, especially for high power 4QCs with a low switching frequency. This usually results in alternating current distortion, increased current harmonic content and system instability. In this paper, the control delay is divided into a computation delay and a PWM delay. The impact of the control delay on the performance of a 4QC is briefly analyzed. To obtain a fundamental value of AC current that is as accurately as possible, a specific sampling method considering the PWM pattern is introduced. Then a current predictive control based on a modified z-transform is proposed, which is effective in reducing the control delay and easy in terms of digital implementation. In addition, it does not depend on object models and parameters. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed predictive current control method is verified by simulation and experimental results.
The modular multilevel converter (MMC) has become a promising topology for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems. To control a MMC system properly, the ac-side current, circulating current and submodule (SM) capacitor voltage are taken into consideration. This paper proposes a low-computation indirect model predictive control (IMPC) strategy that takes advantages of the conventional MPC and has no weighting factors. The cost function and duty cycle are introduced to minimize the tracking error of the ac-side current and to eliminate the circulating current. An optimized merge sort (OMS) algorithm is applied to keep the SM capacitor voltages balanced. The proposed IMPC strategy effectively reduces the controller complexity and computational burden. In this paper, a discrete-time mathematical model of a MMC system is developed and the duty ratio of switching state is designed. In addition, a simulation of an eleven-level MMC system based on MATLAB/Simulink and a five-level experimental setup are built to evaluate the feasibility and performance of the proposed low-computation IMPC strategy.
In this paper, digital peak current mode control for single phase H-bridge inverters is developed and implemented. The digital peak current mode control is achieved by directly controlling the PWM signals by cycle-by-cycle current limitation. Unlike the DC-DC converter where the output voltage always remains in the positive region, the output of DC-AC inverter flips from positive to negative region continuously. Therefore, when the inverter operates in negative region, the control should be changed to valley current mode control. Thus, a novel control logic circuit is required for the function and need to be analyzed for the hardware to track the sinusoidal reference in both regions. The problem of sub-harmonic instability which is inherent with peak current mode control is also addressed, and then proposes the digital slope compensation in constant-sloped external ramp to suppress the oscillation. For unipolar PWM switching method, an adaptive slope compensation in digital manner is also proposed. In this paper, the operating principles and design guidelines of the proposed scheme are presented, along with the performance analysis and numerical simulation. Also, a 200W inverter hardware prototype has been implemented for experimental verification of the proposed controller scheme.
In this paper, a new scheme of current programmed control for three phase PWM AC-AC converter is presented. Compared to duty-ratio voltage control, current programmed control has several advantages such as reduction of system order and inherent current protection. By considering only the magnitude components, the same scheme in the DC-DC converter can be extended to the three phase PWM AC-AC converter. Sensing the output voltage and the inductor current, an error signal will be generated by comparing the output voltage magnitude with a reference value. Then the error signal will be processed by a PI compensator to generate the current command. The converter switches will the change the state by a periodic clock pulse or at the instants when the inductor current magnitude reaches the current command. As an example case, the buck converter is treated. The converter analysis is carried out by applying the complex DQ circuit transformation to obtain basic physical insight into the converter operation and to establish some important characteristic equations for control purpose. The simulation with Simplorer shows the validity of the proposed scheme and the experimental results support the verification of the design.
A static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) applied to rapidly changing, highly unbalanced loads such as electric arc furnaces (EAFs), requires both positive-sequence and negative-sequence current control, which indicates fast response characteristics and can be controlled independently. Furthermore, a delta-connected STATCOM with cascaded H-bridge configuration accompanying multiple separate DC-sides, should have high performance zero-sequence current control to suppress a phase-to-phase imbalance in DC-side voltages when compensating for unbalanced load. In this paper, actual EAF data is analyzed to reflect on the design of current controllers and a pioneering zero-sequence current controller with a superb transient performance is devised, which generates an imaginary -axis component from the presumed response of forwarded reference. Via simulation and experiments, the performance of the positive, negative, and zero-sequence current control of a cascaded H-bridge STATCOM for EAF is verified.
This paper proposed the circulation current control scheme in the single phase inverter system. The load experiment of the power conversion system including the UPS usually uses the passive components such as resistors and inductors. Therefore, the energy consumption is serious problem. In addition, the system is out of order when it is installed in the local area, and the load experiment can not perform adequately after troubleshooting, because there is no the load equipment, and the power capacity is not enough in the local area. The paper does the research on the circulation current control scheme, it does not need the load equipment, and the load current can reuse as the input current of the equipment. Instead of the conventional method the voltage-voltage and voltage-current control scheme introduced the parallel converter concept is newly proposed, and the validity of the proposed control scheme is investigated by both simulation and experimental results.
