The purpose of this study was to explore a plan for maximizing effectiveness of adolescents' ethical consumption education. The ethical consumption education experience and the ethical consumption behavior in home, school and society were examined targeting 587 middle and high school students. As a result of research, first, adolescents' ethical consumption education experiences were indicated not to be mostly high. In the sphere of ethical consumption behavior, the ethical consumption education for the future generation of centering on green consumption was being much performed. Second, the students are much facing ethical consumption through participating in event and voluntary-service activity as for school program and through participating in flea market as for social program. And the tendency was being shown that has high contact frequency in ethical consumption education through internet. Third, the adolescent consumers' ethical consumption behavior level was not high as a whole. Thus, it could be known that the ethical consumption education is needed continuously. Especially, the education of the ethical consumption for current generation is further demanded. Fourth, the factors of having influence upon adolescent consumers' ethical consumption behavior were indicated that the more ethical consumption behavior is shown in more taking home consumer education and school consumer education in case of women and in the lower school year as for school year. In this way, the importance of ethical consumption education in home, school and society is indicated. Thus, there will be a need of being developed the educational method and the educational contents that are connected with real life so that adolescents themselves can acquire through experience by being linked mutually.
Ring, groove and cylinder bore wear may not be a problem in most current automotive engines. However, a small change in ring face, groove geometry and cylinder bore diameter can significantly affect the lubrication characteristics and ring axial motion. This in turn can cause to change inter-ring pressure, blowby and oil consumption in an engine. Therefore, by predicting the wear of piston ring face, ring groove and cylinder bore altogether, the changed ring end gap and the changed volume of gas reservoir can be calculated. Then the excessive oil consumption can be predicted. Being based on the calculation of gas flow amount by the theory of piston ring dynamics and gas flow, and the calculation of oil film thickness and friction force by the analysis of piston ring lubrication, the calculation theory of oil amount through top ring gap into combustion chamber will be set. This is estimated as engine oil consumption. Furthermore, the wear theories of ring, groove and cylinder bore are included. Then the each amount of wear is to be obtained. The changed oil consumption caused by the new end gap and the new volume of oil reservoir around second land, can be calculated at some engine running interval. Meanwhile, the wear amount and oil consumption occurred during engine durability cycle are compared with the calculated values. Next, the calculated amount of oil consumption and wear are compared with the guideline of each part's wear and oil consumption. So, the timing of part repair and engine life cycle can be predicted in advance without performing engine durability test. The wear data of rings, grooves and cylinder bore are obtained from three engines before and after engine durability test. The calculated wear data of each part are turn out to be around the band of averaged test values or a little below.
Today, the amount of energy consumption in the university campuses is huge. The effort for the energy consumption reduction in university campuses is certainly needed by the following reason; first, contribution to the greenhouse gas discharge reduction demand. Second, energy cost reduction in university campus. Third, contribution to the improvement of the social awareness as the maximum higher educational institutions. The energy consumption analysis of current situation has to be executed for the energy consumption reduction in university campus. The energy reduction possibility in which it exists in university campuses can be understood through the energy consumption analysis. And the application is possible as fundamental data of the policy establishment for the effective energy reduction in university campuses. Especially, the best way to reduce the energy consumption in university campuses that is the energy consumption reduction of buildings. Accordingly, this study derived the plans for improving the performance of energy in the university building by analyzing case study, so this study analyzed the performance of energy for the university building through VE, a program for the analysis of building energy. Based on this result, this study classified the plans improving the efficiency of energy in university building into the plan for passive control and active control respectively, and suggested some concrete plans, and finally evaluated the performance of decreasing energy consumption for each plan.
The objective of the current study was to examine associations of whole grain consumption with socio-demographic (i.e.: sex, age, household income, education, marriage status) and certain eating behavior factors (i.e.: dish source, eating place, meal type) among a generally healthy Korean population. Using twenty-four hour recall data from the 2007-2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, whole grain intake (g/day) was calculated for a total of 8,836 generally healthy Koreans aged 6 years and higher. The study subjects had very low whole grain intake. Specifically approximately 60% of the subjects reported no whole grain consumption on the survey day, and mean daily intake ranged from 8.0 g to 15.1 g in different gender and age groups. Living with a spouse was found to be a positive environment factor for whole grain consumption, especially among men. As household income levels increased, whole grain consumption status also improved. The proportion of non-consumer was lowest in a 6-19 year group, and mean intake amount was highest in middle-aged adults. Major dish sources for whole grain consumption included boiled rice with mixed grains, corn, boiled rice with brown rice, cereal products, and other types of boiled rice. It was found that whole grain consumption was highly affected by eating places rather than meal types. The best contributing eating place was home in each age and gender group. The study findings may be useful in planning nutrition education strategy and formulating dietary behavior guidelines for whole grain consumption improvement.
This study developed a KRESS program designed to find the optimization ratio for new and renewable energy systems and analyze the effects of building energy consumption characteristics on the ratio. In spite of clear differences in predicted energy consumption and energy consumption by the loads among 18 facilities, the current formula for obligatory supply ratios applies a correction coefficient according to the building purposes based on energy consumption per each unit area in medical facilities and thus reflects no energy consumption characteristics according to the building purposes. The optimization ratio for new and renewable energy systems was the same for all facilities when the correction coefficients by the building purposes and new and renewable energy sources were all applied. When the correction coefficients were not applied, however, the optimization ratio varied according to building energy consumption characteristics. The findings raise a need to test the correction coefficients in order to select new and renewable energy systems that take into account energy consumption characteristics by the building purposes and loads and reflect economy, environmental performance, and technology.
Objectives: Epidemiological studies have suggested that a higher consumption of whole grain foods can significantly reduce the risk of chronic diseases including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and obesity. The objective of the current study was to examine associations among the consumption of whole grains and nutrient intakes and biochemical indicators associated with chronic diseases among generally healthy middle-aged Korean women. Methods: Using 24-hour recall data from the 2008-2009 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys, whole grain intake (g/day) was calculated for a total of generally healthy 1,953 subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups by the level of whole grain consumption (0 g/day, > 0 and < 20 g/day or ${\geq}20g/day$). Mean values or proportions of various nutrient intakes and metabolic risk factors were compared according to the level of whole grain consumption. All statistical analysis was conducted using SAS software version 9.2. Results: We observed that the overall consumption of whole grains was quite low. Specifically, 58.2% of subjects reported no whole grain consumption on the day of the survey, and the mean whole grain intake was only 15.3 g/day. The whole grain consumption was positively associated with intakes of various macro and micronutrients, namely, plant proteins and fats, dietary fiber, calcium, plant iron, potassium, zinc, vitamin A, ${\beta}$-carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin $B_6$ and folic acid. In addition, we found significantly decreasing trends in abdominal obesity and hypertriglyceridemia as whole grain intake levels increase. Conclusions: The study findings suggested the importance of promoting whole grain consumption as an efficient tool for improving various dietary aspects and preventing chronic diseases.
This study aims to analyze the factors affecting consumption inequality in the 10 years following the financial crisis, applying the cohort method on the data for the first to the eleventh wave of the Korean Labor and Income Study produced by the Korean Labor Institute. The study found that consumption inequality increased rapidly immediately following the financial crisis, and then decreased gradually until increasing again from 2005 onward. Analyzed in terms of age-time-cohort effects, there was a significant change in consumption inequality around the age of mid-forties, and the decrease in consumption inequality was smaller in the younger generations than in the older ones. This suggests that as the current younger generations age over time, consumption inequality may become greater. Also, when the factors in population-cohort-age effects from 1998 onward are analyzed, the age effect in consumption inequality becomes smaller, whereas the role of the rising average age due to demographic shifts seems to be increasing. This means that consumption inequality may become a serious problem in the rapidly aging society. Therefore, there is a need to consider ways to bolster social security and to provide further public assistance in the low-income retiree.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to assess the current mean daily intake of 10 food groups, analyze the sociodemographic factors associated with food consumption, and determine the associations between food consumption/dietary intake and the prevalence rates of obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2D), and hypertension (HTN) in Jakarta, Indonesia. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 600 participants aged 20-85 yrs were included in this cross-sectional study. Food consumption and dietary habits were assessed using a food frequency questionnaire. To determine the association between food consumption/dietary habits and the abovementioned diseases, logistic regression analysis was performed. RESULTS: The average vegetable and fruit intake was lower, while sugar and salt consumption were higher than that recommended by Indonesia's national dietary guidelines. A high intake of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) was associated with young age, men, "single" status, a high education level, and employment with a high monthly income. Obesity and T2D were positively correlated with high intakes of cereals and tubers, UPFs, sugars, fats, and oils. Conversely, an inverse association was found between legume, vegetable, and fruit consumption and obesity risk. An inverse correlation was also observed between vegetable consumption and T2D risk. Moreover, a high salt intake was inversely correlated with fruit consumption in terms of HTN risk. Non-indulgence in habitual late-night snacking and refrainment from consuming more than one dish at each meal were also negatively related to the prevalence of obesity, T2D, and HTN. Inverse correlations were also observed between the prevalence rates of T2D and HTN and abstaining from adding sugar to beverages. CONCLUSION: Foods high in fat, sugar, and sodium were strongly associated with the risks of obesity, T2D, and HTN. Additionally, poor eating habits were also associated with disease development.

This paper proposes a system for reducing the standby power consumption in using the consumer electronic devices such as a television, a home theater, a set-top box, or a DVD player. The system is consisted of a flyback converter, monitoring circuits, a relay and a micro-processor. The proposed system can reduce the standby power consumption by disconnecting the AC input and the consumer devices can be turned on with a remote control. The proposed standby power system consumes the low power to receive the infrared signal from the remote controller. Furthermore, a electronic double layer capacitor is used to store the energy with high efficiency. The proposed power system can operate the 플라이백 converter to charge the electronic double layer capacitor and connect the AC input to the consumer electronic devices. The proposed power circuit can reduce the standby power consumption in AV devices without increasing the cost. The prototype is implemented to verify the system with the commercialized products.
In this paper, proposed the method to increase the battery life of the Wibro terminal by reducing its power consumption. The amount of power consumption was analysed. And as the results, it is shown that the suggested method can be reduced the power consumption. The performance of the proposed system, which control the number of pilot of symbol, analysed by the simulation. It is shown that the power consumption of the terminal can be reduced by the reduction of the CINR for the percentage of pilot per symbol, as 0.48dBm for 10% and 0.95dBm for 20%, which can be accomplished by changing the current system of having the fixed number of pilot.
