  • This study aimed to develop unique, local "food tourism" products by finding specialized items that combine tourist attractions, such as folklore or hot springs. Traditional ingredients were analyzed with ancient texts for the methods of research. A brand image was made possible utilizing hot spring lore and other regional stories. The tofu products were produced using local specialty beans. Products, such as tofu residue cake and willow bean tea, were made with the tofu residue. After the products were completed, the sensory test began at the local tourist attraction. Asan City's food tourism product willow tofu was made with beans that were given as compensation for building the Onyang temporary palace according to the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty and the willow tree that appears in Sunshin Lee's anecdotes. After the preference test between normal tofu and willow-extract tofu was conducted to measure the product potential of willow tofu, among the sample extracts, 0.04% of the willow extract showed a significant preference. The hot spring tofu-residue cake was baked using tofu residue and vegetable olive oil to substitute for animal oil, such as butter, or margarine. After the sensory test targeting the adults was conducted, both products displayed significant product potential with average scores above 5.0. Willow tree bark, which has antioxidation and anti-inflammatory effects without a bitter taste or strong smell, was proven to bean appropriate ingredient for leached tea. The nutty flavor of leached tea was enhanced by roasted green kernel black beans and willow tree bark. The sensory test showed that the leached tea and tofu received a high preference rating on both color and flavor.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify development strategies of high value-added cultural products in order to help promote Jeonnam cultural tourism festivals. In order to achieve this purpose, we carried out a market survey of cultural products sold in cultural tourism festivals held successfully within the Jeonnam area. The subjects of this study were local festivals which were labeled as cultural tourism festivals by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from 2000 to 2008. The results of this study were as follows: Firstly, a store survey was conducted to analyze the categories of products on offer. As a result, the most frequent product was accessories (46.2%), followed by clothing and miscellaneous goods (25.2%), ceramic products (14.8%), interior decoration products (9.1%), and stationery (4.6%). Secondly, in the design motif used for cultural products, most products did not contain festival or local images. Cultural products with festival images made up 47.2% of the range, while only 2.3% of products on offer contained local imagery. The remaining 50.3% of cultural products for sale did not use festival or local images. Finally, in terms of materials used, most products used metal (36.7%), followed by textiles (32.9%), ceramic (13.8%), wood (6.2%), plastic (6.2%), paper (3.6%), and leather (0.2%). For price range, 52.4% of product were equal to or below 10,000 won, followed by 33.1% between 10,000-30,000 won. The results of this study showed that the cultural products of Jeonnam festivals lacked symbolism of the region or festival itself. Furthermore, items and the price ranges were not diverse enough. A possible solution would be to address this short coming, but more importantly, design a marketing and commercial strategy tailored towards the promotion of cultural products which contain both regional and festival imageries.

  • The smart tourism service provides services such as travel planning and tour guides to tourists using key technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, such as the Internet of Things, communication infrastructure, big data, artificial intelligence, AR/VR, and drones. We are developing smart tourism services such as recommended travel products, my travel itinerary, tourism information, and chatbots for tourists through the smart tourism app. In this paper, we develop a smart tourism service system that provides real-time location-based tourism information and weather information to tourists. The smart tourism service system consists of a smart tourism app, a smart tourism information system, and an IoT data collection device. The smart tourism information system receives weather information from the IoT data collection device installed in the tourist destination. The location-based smart tourism service is provided as a smart tourism app in the smart tourism information system according to the Beacon's UUID in the IoT data collection device. The smart tourism information system stores the Beacon's UUIDs received from tourists and provides a safe hiking service for tourists.
