This research aims is to confirm the effects of cultural competence of an action learning based teaching method in multicultural nursing education. Cultural competence was composed of cultural knowledge, cultural awareness and cultural acceptance. A total of 118 college students were enrolled in this study. Both before and after learning, the students were guided to fill out a questionnaire regarding culture competence. The students from each group studied multicultural nursing by different teaching types: the Traditional Lecture-based Teaching method (TLT) and Action Learning based Teaching method (ALT). Data analysis was carried out by SPSS 21.0. A pre-post comparison within the group was performed using a paired t-test and the comparison between groups was performed using ANCOVA. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the culture competence in both teaching methods. In addition, ALT showed higher cultural acceptance results than TLT; however, there was no difference in cultural knowledge and cultural awareness between the two groups Therefore, ALT should be considered as a teaching method to enhance cultural competence in multicultural nursing education for Nursing students. Further studies on instructional design according to the task types, nursing performance, and the validity of ALT will be needed.
Throughout the world, interest in issues relevant to energy, resources, environment, etc, is ever soaring. Therefore, the restoration of modern architecture that fulfilled its epochal function is working as a cultural, historic medium. In addition, it also plays its role in the side of environmental approach and so on. Moreover, the museum, which was only used for the possession of art collections and exhibition purposes, is currently expanding its scale and range as the center of culture and education. Also in reality, with the use of various programs, it is globally pursuing urban vitalizations. This study looks at the meaning of modem architecture restoration as well as its relationship with urban area. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is to look for design method's direction by finding the relevance between modem architecture restoration and museum during the restoration. This study is based on transformation and preservation scale during the restoration of modern architecture. It analyzed plane and design direction. Additionally, this study analyzed the architectural and regional effect caused by restoration. As a result, in accordance with the direction of museum and the usage, scale, structure as well as superficial aging condition of previous architecture, it shows difference in design methods in the process of restoration. The exterior of architecture was restored and preserved to its original form in order to show the symbolical form through historical value. This is essential to the modern museum. On the other hand, the interior of architecture put more value on utilization concept that its preservation and thus was restored accordingly. However, in all the cases, previous architecture were commonly used and even when alterations and additions were made due to aging and their change in usage, they were restored in a way that preserved and harmonized previous architecture. If the design method for restoration of modern architecture selects the restoration method by considering problems related to location, building value, structure, if it is studied from various angles and is restored after considering its usage as a museum, then we will be able to generate cultural and historical synergy effect. Furthermore, apart from architecture, it will have great impact on urban vitalizations.
During the last few decades, it has become evident that the compatibility of the yeast biochemical environment with the ability to process and translate the RNA transcript, along with its capacity to modify a translated protein, are relevant requirements for selecting this host cell for protein expression in several pharmaceutical and clinical applications. In particular, Pichia pastoris is used as an industrial host for recombinant protein and metabolite production, showing a powerful capacity to meet required biomolecular target production levels in high-throughput assays for functional genomics and drug screening. In addition, there is a great advantage to using P. pastoris for protein secretion, even at high molecular weights, since the recovery and purification steps are simplified owing to relatively low levels of endogenous proteins in the extracellular medium. Clearly, no single microexpression system can provide all of the desired properties for human protein production. Moreover, chemical and physical bioprocess parameters, including culture medium formulation, temperature, pH, agitation, aeration rates, induction, and feeding strategies, can highly influence product yield and quality. In order to benefit from the currently available wide range of biosynthesis strategies using P. pastoris, this mini review focuses on the developments and technological fermentation achievements, providing both a comparative and an overall integration analysis. The main aim is to highlight the relevance and versatility of the P. pastoris biosystem to the design of more cost-effective microfactories to meet the increasing demands for recombinant membrane proteins and clinical antibodies for several therapeutic applications.
Symbol mark started with expressing the symbolic form through the long history of human beings, in order to transmit self or group's life and thoughts, and since the Industrial Revolution, symbol mark has beer used for the business activities of enterprise, along with the acquirement of term 'CI'. The symbol mark design of A.E.G, designed by Peter Behrens in 1907 is the onset of symbol mark in the CI concept, and the concept of CI and symbol mark was introduced to our nation in the early of 1970s. Since then, until now, CI has reflected the phase of the times as a key factor of CI, while repeating numerous changes, and recently, it is a state that the expression methods of symbol mark have been varied with the popularization of trend, appealing to emotion in the whole society and culture. Accordingly, this thesis examines the corporate symbol mark through the portfolio of representative CI specializes companies from the introduction period of CI to the present, and analyze the features of the time in order to present the basis of the direction of symbol mark design for the creation of future corporate images.
Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate a trend of human error types observed in a series of verification and validation experiments for an Advanced Control Room(ACR) equipped with Lager Display Panel(LDP), Work Station Flat Panel Display(WS FPD), list type Alarm System(AS), Soft Control(SC) and Computerized Procedure System(CPS). Background: Operator behaviors in a fully computerized control room are quite different from those in a traditional hard-wired control room. Operators in an ACR all together monitor plant status and variables through their own interface system such as LDP and WS FPD, are notified of abnormal plant status through their own list type AS, control the plant through their own SC, and follow the structured procedure through their own CPS whereas operators in a traditional control room only separately do their duty directed by their supervisor. Especially the secondary task such as manipulating the user interface of ACR can be an extra burden to all the operators including the supervisor. Method: The Reason's human error classification method was applied to operators' behavioral data collected from a series of verification and validation experiments where operators showed their plant operational behaviors under a couple of harsh scenarios using the ACR simulator. Results: As operators accustomed to the new ACR system, knowledge or rule based mistakes appearing frequently in the early series of experiments decreased drastically in the latest stage of the series. Slip and lapse types of errors were observed throughout the series of experiments. Conclusion: Education and training can be one of the most important factors for the operators accustomed to the traditional control room to be adapted to the new system and to run the ACR successfully. Application: The results of this study implied that knowledge or rule based mistakes can be reduced by training and education but that lapse type errors might be reduced only through innovative improvement in human-system interface design or teamwork culture design including a new leadership style suitable for ACR.
There have been increasing consumption of luxury fashion and recent marketing researches on luxury syndrome, trading up, etc. in mass fashion today. Historically the consumption of luxury had been concentrated on only upper class in the past. But since 20th century, the mass consumers of modern consumptive society show their interests in luxuries which had been preoccupation of few elite class. Accordingly, it can be thought that the historical review on the changes in the meaning of luxury should be necessary for a better understanding of modern luxury consumption in sociocultural context. The purpose of this study is to grasp the sociocultural meaning of luxury in modern fashion with a holistic viewpoint by examining the changes of luxury consumption in mass fashion. It will be helpful as a conceptual approach of modern luxury consumption. For this, the documentary study has been executed. It focused on since 20th century, which can be the root of mass productive and consumptive society in fashion history. The results are as follows. The luxury in court elite system before 20th century had been concentrated on few elite class exclusively but gradually began to be represented as inferior cheaper version by mass production according to their increasing interests since industrial revolution. The luxuries in elite designer system in the first half of 20th century were represented as illegal design piracy and legal genuine reproduction in spite of problems brought about between originality and copy. The concept of mass as consumer was virtually alienated in both systems. But in fashion system since the second half of 20th century, various types of consumer luxuries has appeared on account of the trading up phenomenon in drastic growth of mass culture.
The psychological system of human beings has gone through changes from material satisfaction to spiritual satisfaction. That is, $\ulcorner$From real goods to feel goods$\lrcorner$: much attention is not paid to physical consumption of real products but to consumption of time containing information value such as services capable of enriching and entertaining life. Entertainment is a cultural industry based on mass consumption culture. In this context, this research is designed to look into the entertainment tendency of the industrial areas and to take a look at various forms of attraction serving as the factor of absorption to users. The study indicates that the moderns impose much value on invisible goods such as experience. And the most popularized method is to appeal to clients for sensory interaction by presenting the experience of joy. Entertainment in a true sense is generated on the basis of creativity, which is a product of intuition and efforts directed toward the understanding of emotional ties with the general public characterized by uncertainty.
The purpose of this study was to analyze social, economic and cultural phenomena of the luxury brand in the viewpoint that the consumption system of the modern society stood for the sign consumption and the industrial production of difference as Baudrillard mentioned in the Consumer Society. The result was divided into the two subjects popularization and differentiation of luxury brand. Firstly the meaning of luxury brand was that the personal effects of consumption of king or aristocratic class who did not exist in the modern and were made into the selection and consumption-possible things of exchange value. The popularization of this sign was accelerated through TV drama. Secondly as differentiation strategy of luxury brand, was made by giving meaning to the life style concept of the upper class with advertisement and design, and also the logo of design was used as sign differentiated from people. Also the reason why the producer of the luxury brand gave meaning to such life style was that the awareness of the brand which people have consistently makes them consume more products. The consumption system of the modern society stood for the sign consumption, difference sign mark value which was the desire on a social meaning basis, not the consumption of things as used value. And the consumer could express his personality by selecting and consuming the product of luxury brand model made with this sign. Accordingly the distribution, purchase, sales and acquisition of the things with this difference sign were our verbal activity and linguistic code today, and it was the essential feature of the society, culture and economy of the consumer society.
In contemporary advertising market, one of main trends is to speak surrealistic visual language which provides 'enjoyable spectacles'. Specially, in the beginning of 21st century, there discovered more and more exhibitions and discourses about surrealism reinterpreted from the viewpoint of postmodernism. Surrealism as a creative style of expression based upon free association, has been a great inspiration for fashion ads for commercial communication as well as fashion design since its origin. However, there has been ignored the idea of analyzing surrealistic image expressed in fashion ads in spite of their flood. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to grasp its cultural meaning through analyzing aesthetic characteristics of surrealistic image expressed in fashion ads. It will provide a better understanding of surrealistic image in fashion ads reflecting popular taste and preference directly as popular visual culture, focusing on post modern context. A case study of surrealistic fashion ads limits to TV or print commercials and digital ads as image ads stimulating visual expressions. The Results can be summarized as follows. Surrealism is an avant garde style which deconstructs the established meaning system as well as the existing formalistic order and then put them together in the frame of 'dream' and 'unconsciousness'. Defamiliarization questioning the whole edifice of representation can be adapted to. By means of paradox and metaphor, unfamiliar new visual world can be represented. The plastic characteristics of surrealistic image in fashion ads are founded as surrealistic styling of time and space, distortion of object by methods of automatism, depaysement, parody and trompe-l'oeil which bring about the deconstruction of gestalt. Aesthetic values of surrealistic fashion ads appear as dualistic representation, allegoric symbolism, fantastic romanticism. Ultimately they lead to marvelous. mysterious, humorous visual effects. Foster reinterpreted these effects of surrealism from Freud's 'Uncanny Concept'. 'Uncanny' means the phenomenon recurring to familiar being defamiliarized by repression. Surrealistic fashion ads strengthen this shocking effect more and more dramatically in company with our post modern needs for fantastic adventure and thrilling spectacle. It can be thought that surrealistic fashion ads reflects uncanny as an alternative which can relieve us of our stress and anxiety and which realize our potential desire in contemporary post industrial stage.
All of us have no time to predict and prepare for a rapidly-approaching future change in the 21st century, thereby being reality that we feel uneasy about future society. Accordingly, there is necessity for re-consolidating environment and daily culture in preparation for future society, namely, aging society. Given well preparing for super-aging society that will approach in the future, by which this effort becomes what bad luck often brings good luck, our country's role is thought to get probably bigger even in the globally silver industrial market in near future. We need to synthetically recognize a human being's aging psychological and physical conditions through the aging experience exhibition available for publicizing properly this historical phenomenon, and to pay more attention to importance of interaction between a human being and product environment. The experience exhibition is a concept for the exhibition form and the spatial composition, which emphasized interaction, with having escaped from the simply exhibition space. Given trying to communicate information more scientifically with escaping from the conventional exhibition of seeing and listening, it is also important to research Into the basis for exhibition as the experience space based on interaction. After all, a human being's aging is the unavoidably future phenomenon. And, importance of environment, which influences a human being, is very mutual as well. Our country is desired to develop a research on interaction of the exhibition experience space available for broadening recognition of senior-friendly and for properly experiencing this, thereby being an opportunity that the business entity, which plans silver industry, and the academic circles, which research and develop this, do mutually cooperate and can make silver industry grow further.
