Modding Culture: A Study on Gamer's Cultural Practices (모드하기의 문화적 실천에 대한 연구: <엘더스크롤 IV: 오블리비언>의 커뮤니티를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of cultural practices of videogame audience with 'mod'. Videogame audience members are recognized as very active and interactive beings compared with other interpretive media audience members. Especially mod is one of the most dramatic cultural situation of videogame. It's very prominent properties are 'activity' and 'interactivity'. Videogame audience members, so called 'gamers' modify videogame software as their own sake and use it as their own intention. Modifying and playing with videogame, or 'modding' is very strong cultural program of gamer. Mod is one of avant-garde technology but its practice is not always radical. I observed practices of the members of Naver cafe 'Elderscroll' playing . They used mods of for their phallocentric desire. And they construct a hierarchical and top-dowon membership. So advanced technology and cultural media and text from it does not assure the same advanced contents.

A Study on Korean Culture Education by Applying Numerical Symbols (숫자 상징을 활용한 한국 문화 교육 연구)

  • Through the process, it is possible to understand the meanings of specific numerical symbols that are present in our daily lives, rather than regarding them as abstract symbols. The symbols can be efficiently utilized for cultural communication between Korean teachers and foreign learners, and between learners with different cultural backgrounds. A symbol that intensively shows Korean culture can be applied efficiently to cultural education. This is because Korean identity can be understood by means of symbols that represent Korean thoughts and emotions. Therefore, this study intends to examine the contents of symbol education applicable to Korean culture education, centering on numerical symbols amid far-reaching symbol systems. For this purpose, this study analyzed how the application of numerical symbols is presented in Korean textbooks, with the intent to organize the symbols into 4 categories of myth, folklore, taboo, and idiomatic expressions, which might be actually helpful for understanding Korean culture.

  • The animated film Big Fish & Begonia is a new attempt of Chinese animated films in recent years. Both market performance and artistic creation are an improvement. In the process of creation in the past ten years, Big Fish & Begonia has profoundly excavated Chinese myths and legends and combined them with modern art. This study takes the traditional Chinese cultural elements in the film as the starting point for research, from the aspects of character design, scene design and national culture. Through the analysis of the traditional cultural elements in Big Fish & Begonia, try to find a better direction for the development of animated films, such as the integration of modern art and traditional culture. It is precisely because of the large number of Chinese cultural elements incorporated in the Big Fish & Begonia that it is ingeniously set up to bring visual enjoyment and inner resonance to the audience.

A Monitoring and Evaluation on the Project for Utilization of Cultural Property - Focused on the Project "SaengSaeng Cultural Property" in 2016 - (문화재활용 사업 모니터링 및 평가 - 2016년 생생문화재사업을 중심으로 -)

  • This study carried out field evaluation by experts, monitoring by the public, and visitor satisfaction survey for 88 sites by using cultural property projects that received support from "SaengSaeng Cultural Property"in 2016. The result of the comprehensive evaluation was 'good', the part of planning, outcome, annual special index were 'good', field operation and performance were 'normal'. The field evaluation was rated as 'normal' by experts, monitoring by the public was 'good', and visitor satisfaction survey was also 'good'. The advantages of the project were as follows; increased enjoyment of local cultural assets, utilization of historical and cultural heritage as tourism, expansion of local participation and cooperation. On the other hand, the disadvantages were as follows; shortage of promotion to other local people, deterioration of program's quality, insufficient materials for explanation of cultural assets, insufficient program for staying. We suggested measures to develop the project as follows; developing paid contents in order to secure sustainability, connection with other programs, developing representative program and brand, improvement of environment to participate, strengthening of role for experienced local organization, utilization of local artists and volunteers, exchange between local organization, promoting by government organization, managing existing visitors, establishing of strategy for promotion, improvement of monitoring by the public, strengthening of reflection of visitor's opinions, consulting for each programs.

Initial Behavior and Shrinkage Properties of Lime Mortars for Restoration of Cultural Heritage According to the Mixing Ratio (석회 종류와 배합비 별 문화재 보수용 석회 모르타르의 초기거동특성과 수축특성 연구)

  • This study investigated the initial behavior (flowability and setting properties) and shrinkage characteristics of lime mortar, based on the mixing ratio of hydrated lime (lump, powder) and commercial lime, which is primarily used for repairing and restoring cultural assets. The flowability showed that the optimum mixing water contents of the masonry lime mortar were 8-10% for the lump hydrated lime, 10-18% for the powdered hydrated lime, and 17-40% for the commercial hydrated lime. The results of the setting and shrinkage analysis showed that the average final setting time ratio compared to the standard of cultural asset repair was in the increasing order of commercial hydrated lime(0.4) < powder hydrated lime(5.6) < lump hydrated lime(5.7). Moreover, the average shrinkage ratio was ordered as lump hydrated lime(1.1) < powder hydrated lime(1.2) < commercial hydrated lime(3.0). The analysis of the physical and chemical characteristics of hydrated lime showed that the optimum mixing water content was reduced as the particle size of the lime increased, thus delaying the setting time and decreasing the length change rate (shrinkage). These results are expected to contribute to the prediction of the initial behavior and shrinkage characteristics of mortars using handmade and commercial lime during repair and restoration work on cultural, heritage buildings.

A Case Study of Voluntary Advertising Parody Contents in Gag Program -Focus on Eduwill TV Advertisements- (개그 프로에서의 자발적인 광고 패러디 콘텐츠 사례연구 -에듀윌 TV광고를 중심으로-)

  • In March of 2014, after Eduwill's new TV commercial, Seo Kyung Seok, appeared as a model, unusually, various professional comedians have spontaneously made many TV ad parody contents. It is a kind of GCC (Gagman Created Contents), which is a content created by comedians if it is called User Created Contents (UCC) by a consumer voluntarily making contents. Various popular programs of TV stations such as tvN, KBS, SBS, MBC Eduwill TV commercial parody contents was broadcasted. Euduwill TV advertising parody contents can be classified as parody contents that mimic Eduwill CM songs and comic dancings by Seo Kyung Seok. In this study, we analyzed how the characteristics of class B culture such as 'twist' and 'satire' are reflected in Eduwill TV commercial parody, and discussed the correlation between advertisement, parody contents and socio-cultural phenomenon.

Re-evaluation of Cultural Heritage Preservation Committee Activities in 1961 (1961년 문화재보존위원회 활동 재평가)

  • The Cultural Heritage Committee is an important organization that has been deliberating on important matters related to the preservation of cultural properties in the Republic of Korea for more than 60 years since 1962. The Cultural Heritage Preservation Committee was active in 1961, which was a short period of about a year, but the minutes prepared at the time confirmed that it had the following meanings. First of all, legally, it was meaningful in that the concept of cultural property or intangible cultural property was used for the first time in Korea in laws and regulations on the term of office of professional members. These matters became the basis for the operation of the current Cultural Heritage Protection Act and the Cultural Heritage Committee. The following confirms that, unlike previously known activities, they were active despite political upheaval at the time. In spite of rapid regime change at the time, the committee had no change in its members, and the meetings continued without interruption. At that time, there was an exclusive relationship between different groups in relation to the preservation of cultural heritage, and this relationship was confirmed by the minutes that disappeared with the establishment of the Cultural Heritage Management Bureau, which integrated these groups. Finally, the form of the minutes prepared then shows the form of documentation at the time, where it is confirmed that the traditional documentation format is changing into a new form. It can be good research material in terms of modern and contemporary bibliography. As discussed earlier, the Cultural Heritage Conservation Committee of 1961 has historical significance in terms of legal and actual activities. The reason why the committee's activities were low valued is presumed to be that the minutes and related documents prepared at the time were not organized well due to the lack of a related administrative system. The minutes of the Cultural Heritage Conservation Committee record various facts about cultural heritage policies and decisions at that time. Therefore, analysis and research on these contents can reveal more facts about the cultural heritage policies and perceptions of that time.

  • 본 논문에서는 21세기 지식산업사회가 도래하면서 우리 사회에 가장 광범위한 변화를 몰고 온 인터넷을 기반으로 한국 애니메이션 산업의 현황과 미래에 대한 전망을 가늠 하고자 한다. 여기에는 최근 인터넷의 핵심 개념으로 떠오르고 있는 웹2.0을 재조명하여 새로운 미디어의 범주 안에서 애니메이션의 시대적 변화와 새로운 가능성을 살펴보고 디지털콘텐츠산업으로 재편되고 있는 국내외 애니메이션 동향을 살핌으로써 국내 애니메이션의 가치를 새롭게 창출하고자하는 의미도 포함되어 있다. 여기서 좀 더 주목하여 웹2.0의 개념을 국내 애니메이션 산업으로 의 적극적인 전이를 일으키기 위해서는 보다 구체적인 솔루션, 프로세스, 툴에 대한 개발이 보완되어야 할 것이다.

Survey on the Present Condition of Mathematics Education in Art High Schools in Korea (예술계 고등학교 수학과의 수학교육 현황과 수업 실태 분석)

  • In this paper we represented the results of surveying on the present condition of mathematics education and the contents of the mathematics text books that are usually taught in Art High Schools interest in mathematics subjects and to achieve the higher level of mathematical abilities. We would like to raise their interest in mathematics and to improve the efficiency of teaching level on the basis of the 7th Mathematics Curriculum Revision. Some suggestions are of offered by considering the level of their mathematical abilities in Art High Schools and the present contents of the mathematical subjects from following views ⑴ the aspect of studying method ⑵ the aspect of revising contents of mathematics textbooks for them ⑶ the aspect of educational policies for Art High Schools

  • 본 논문의 주된 내용은 21세기 지식정보사회의 신경향에 부합하는 새로운 분류체계를 연구한 것으로, 연구된 내용은 다음과 같다. 위의 연구를 통해, 21세기 지식정보사회의 신경향에 부합하는 새로운 분류체계가 되도록 하기 위해 듀이십진분류법을 지양하고 인터넷 검색시스템 정보 분류 방식을 따랐으며, 이용자의 요구에 따라 통합 또는 세분화가 가능한 열린 분류안을 지향했다. 또한, 기획성 분류군을 설정하여 지역 및 문화의 특수성, 사용자의 개인적 요구에 부응할 수 있게 했다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서는 주제별 분류와 기획성 분류를 혼합한 형태로 구성하는 것을 권했다. 주제별 분류안은 학술적으로는 유용하지만, 데이터가 항목별로 균등하게 반영되기 어렵고 일반인의 관심을 다양하게 담아내기 어렵다. 따라서 기획성 분류를 가미함으로써 문화의 특징을 살려내야 한다는 것이다.
