It is rare that the dwelling buildings designated as cultural assets owing to the demands of the rapid-changing times and their residences are conserved as their original shapes, though the extent varies. Meanwhile, there has been a continuous effort to preserve and take over our traditional dwelling culture. Yet, the effects were not tangible because the viewpoints are different between the conservation promoters and related residents-officials-experts and because the conservation method is not decided in advance. Thus, in conserving the traditional dwelling culture containing the history of human life, this study tries to find out the reasonable ways for conserving traditional residence based on the consciousness research of citizens on conserving and utilizing the cultural assets. Furthermore this study also tries to suggest to contemporaries - who should live side by side with the historic cultural assets - what attitude they should have. On the basis of above survey, the objective of this study is said to consist in presenting the directions - what efforts are needed - for the more active and participant conservation.

Settings of traditional shrines and their Surroundings are seemed to be one of the typical life-cultural designs realized on land in urban or rural area in Japan. It can be said that those settings are some reflections of nature-oriented cosmology established in long term history of ordinary people. Examining those settings and making clear their characteristics could be a significant issue of landscape architecture for discussing sustainable ways of urbanism or regional development. In this paper, the author examined and discussed the shrine settings from a view point of their spatial relation with surrounding water system. Based on the surveys on more than 60 local shrines in northern area of Tokyo, it was revealed that many shrines have strong connections to surrounding waters or low lands with downward-oriented worshipping to nature instead of upward-oriented worshipping well known as general location of shrine. It is believed that the result shows the diversity of landscape settings of shrines as historical life-culture, and the varieties has to be conserved or restored in various ways of urban design or regional planning.

In recent decades, Indonesia and the Middle Eastern countries have increased and expanded their political, security, economic, and socio-cultural ties. Qatar is one of the Middle Eastern countries which have fortified ties with Indonesia. This article aims to analyze the nature and scope of Indonesia-Qatar relations through the five-dimensional framework developed by George Eberling, which consists of political-diplomatic, economic-trade, military-security, cultural, and petroleum-energy relations (Eberling 2017). Despite being significantly distinct in history, demography, geographic size, and location, Jakarta and Doha have been provided opportunities to expand their cooperation on multifaceted dimensions by way of common economic, geopolitical, and cultural interests. Throughout the paper, the primary drivers of the cooperation are also discussed, alongside its future prospects.

The path of the search has been long and complex but rich in cultural, economic, religious, and human aspects. The relations between these two ports, Malta and Trieste, full of a painful and difficult but also glorious and fair history, have had their ups and downs as a theater, not so much land as the sea, and in this case the Mediterranean. This area has led to a similar vision of the historical aspects of the various dominations, and has a significant influence on the habits, customs and life of the people of Malta and Trieste. Their particularly complex history has unfolded with ups and downs, contrasting with other difficult times more happier and constructive as it has always, however, in the history of man. The purpose of this article is to analyze and arrange manifestly the history of commercial and maritime interchanges between Malta and Trieste, not achieved in Korea until now. This material has high scientific value gathering sufficient data for this article.

Complementary/alternative medicine has been developed in extremely diverse forms reflecting inter-state historical, cultural differences. As Korean Medicine is institutionally accepted to the same status of Western Medicine, the concept of complementary/alternative medicine needs to be realigned. Data-basing academic level Web Service DBpia, the trend of research in the field of complementary/alternative medicine was analyzed by focusing on 144 treatises listed in the Korean Journal. As the result, we could subgroup treatises as those of concept, category, current status, institutions, details, and miscellany. The treatises related to the answers to "What is Complementary/alternative medicine" apply to the category of 'concept' Likewise in category are listed the treatises covering range and kinds of medicine. In 'category', 'current status', the discussions about the direction of Complementary/alternative medicine pending and treatises dealing with clinical applications are covered. In 'institutions', treatises on policy-making are enlisted. In 'details', treatises applied on specific diseases were sub-grouped. Others not otherwise covered enlisted in the list of "Miscellany".

This article will introduce the changes of the historiography of the Chinese medicine which have been made during the last several decades. These will be described with the changes in the image of the Chinese medicine that has been occupied in our mind. We regard Chinese medicine as a rational knowledge system which is based on the theory of Yin-Yang and Five phases. Therefore we draw a dear line of demarcation between Chinese medicine and irrational cure means such as religious prayer, charms and folk remedies which have no theoretical background. We also think the medical lineages continue virtually uninterrupted over the whole time of the history of Chinese medicine that began from Huangdineijing(皇帝內徑) and Shanghanlun(傷寒論). And we consider Chinese medicine as a sort of science, and suppose there has been one universal and homogeneous medical system in the mainland China. This image, however, has been changing rapidly. These changes come from the join of externalists who were trained as historian not physician, for studying the history of Chinese medicine, and the methodological innovations of historiography which was influenced by the methodologies of anthropology, social history, cultural history and the discourse of postmodemism.
