중국인 근로자의 직무성과 향상을 위한 기업문화 적응에 관한 연구 (Corporate Cultural Adaptation for the Job Performance of Chinese Employees in Korea)

  • Chinese employees in Korea have been the leading workers, about 260,000 of 700,000(3% of total employees), in our foreigner's job market. The corporate cultural adaptation of Chinese people is very important to the corporate productivity as well as the Korea economy. The objectives of this paper are to compare the corporate cultural adaptation and job performance of Chinese employees in Korea and to propose the efficient business policies for firm employing Chinese. The propositions could be summarized that language skills and pre-training are positive to the corporate cultural adaptation. This adaptation improved the job performance as a role of motivators in their firms. The job satisfaction and job involvement based on the corporate cultural adaptation are positive relationship to the job performance.

문화적응 유형화를 중심으로한 국제결혼이주여성의 부부갈등과 가족상담자의 문화적 역량에 대한 기대 (Marital Conflicts and Expectations to Family Counselors' Cultural Competence Among Immigrated Women Focusing on Typology of Cultural Adaptation)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate on characteristics of sociological and demographic population, marital conflicts and expectations to family counselors' cultural competence surrounding factors of cultural adaptation among immigrated women. This study conducted a survey of 236 immigrated women in Kyonggi province, Seoul metropolitan cities, Cholla and Chunchung provinces and Incheon. The results of this study are as follows: First, a relatively few marital conflicts were found, as a whole, while they had the high levels of expectation to family counselors' cultural competence. Second, immigrated women can be clustered as three different types: 'multiplicity type', 'undifferentiated type' and 'adaptation type'. Third, sociological and demographic population characteristics which were subdivided and clustered according to cultural adaptation made the significant difference between each population. Population with multiplicity type out of the above-stated three types accounted for the highest conflict rates, while population with 'adaptation' type accounted for the lowest conflict rates. Lastly, expectations to family counselors' cultural competence made the significant difference among each population. Population with multiplicity type showed the highest expectation levels on expectations to family counselors' cultural competence, while population with undifferentiated type showed the lowest levels.

다문화가정 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향에서 우울의 매개효과: 융합적 대응방안 모색 (The Mediating Effect of Depression in the Impact of Cultural Adaptation Stress on School Life Adaptation of Multicultural Adolescents: Searching for Converged Intervention Strategies)

  • 본 연구는 다문화가정 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향에서 우울이 매개효과를 갖는지 분석하였다. 이를 위해 한국아동·청소년정책연구원(National Youth Policy Institute: NYPI)의 다문화청소년패널 데이터 6차년도(2016) 중 총 1,329명을 대상으로 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화가정 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스는 학교생활적응에 있어 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 문화적응 스트레스가 학교생활적응에 영향을 미치는 경로에서 우울이 두 변수간 부분매개역할을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 다문화가정 청소년의 문화적응 스트레스를 감소시키고 학교생활적응 정도를 향상시키기 위한 응집력강화프로그램 등 소수문화를 수용하는 태도의 중요성을 강조하는 실천적 방안에 대해 논의하였다. 향후 연구에서는 비 다문화가정 청소년과 비교하여 어느 시기에 가장 많은 심리·정서적 불안감에 놓여있고, 학교생활적응 정도에 변화가 있는지 추가적인 연구를 진행이 필요할 것이다.

Factors Affecting Foreign Workers' Turnover Intentions

  • Purpose: As the proportion of foreigners participating in the domestic labor market is gradually increasing, problems caused by social and cultural differences have also been expressed. As such, the purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of organizational justice and social support on psychological and cultural adaptation and its effect on turnover intention. Research design, data and methodology: The data was collected for foreign workers who visited the Foreign Workers Support Center operated by the Korea Human Resources Development Service. A total of 224 data were analyzed from March 1 to March 30, 2019 and was analyzed through frequency analysis for basic work environment of foreign workers, factor analysis for reliability and validity of variables, and overall structural model analysis. Results: Organizational fairness did not appear to affect psychological adaptation and significant cultural adaptation but social support had a significant effect. Psychological adjustment did not affect turnover intention, and cultural adaptation had a significant effect on turnover intention. Conclusions: Thus, in order to reduce the intention of turnover and adapt well to the working environment, it would be more efficient to find ways to raise the level of psychological adaptation by strengthening social support rather than organizational fairness.

국적항공사 외국인 객실승무원의 직무적응에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Research on the Job Adaptation of Foreign Cabin Crews in a National Carrier)

  • The number of foreign cabin crews consist of 7% of total crews in K-airline, of which Chinese crews are of 38%. The number of foreign crews are 433 from 10 countries as of the end of July 2012. The airline has continued to hire foreign cabin crews to increase efficiency of human resourcing qualified flight attendants. This paper tried to do empirical research through SEM(Structural Equation Model) to overview confirmatory factors and course effects integrally. Cultural stress, aggressive coping, social support and job adaption have been chosen to be a factors. Especially, the SEM was set to show indirect effects of cultural stress and aggressive coping through social support to the dependant variable, job adaptation. According to the analysis result, cultural stress has a direct negative effect on job adaptation. Aggressive coping has also a direct positive effect on job adaptation. It has also proven cultural stress and aggressive coping has a indirect effect to job adaptation through social support. This paper is expect to contribute to develop such training and administrative programs as enhancing foreign crews' job adaptability and managing them effectively.

Effects of Forest Healing Program on Cultural Adaptation Stress and Psychological Wellbeing of Foreign Workers

  • As the number of foreign workers increases in Korea, people's interest in their adaptation to this society has also increased. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a forest-healing program on foreign workers' cultural adaptation stress and psychological wellbeing. The experiment was conducted in a recreation forest located in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. The subjects who participated in this study included 40 foreign workers (16 males, 24 females). The experiment was conducted for three days and two nights from June 26 to 28, 2019. The forest healing program was composed of activities that can enhance immunity and restore physical and mental health by utilizing various healing environmental factors such as landscapes, sunlight, anion and oxygen in forest. The independent sample t-test was conducted to examine changes in cultural adaptation stress and psychological well-being before and after the program. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program. As a result, cultural adaptation stress was statistically significantly reduced in sub-factors including discrimination experience, language conflict and legal status. Psychological wellbeing improved in all the surveyed sub-factors such as self-confidence, ego, immersion, and joy. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for reducing the stress foreign workers experience from cultural adaptation and restoring their psychological wellbeing in the future.

  • Ever since they were first produced, more than four hundred years ago, Shakespeare's plays have been reproduced and adapted into countless film and TV productions, into ballets and operas and theatre performances across the globe. The present paper, within a broad conceptual framework, aims to investigate the cross cultural dimension of adaptation of a stage play, written for the Renaissance England, into a $21^{st}$centuryIndianfeaturefilm. The paper uses Omkara, an adaptation of Othello by Vishal Bharadwaj, as a case study to: (i.) Explore the use of the idiomatic language of cinema in such an adaptation. (ii.) Posit a re-reading of Shakespeare with the help of local/native signifiers.

Island ecology on biological-cultural diversities and human adaptation in seascapes

  • The Asian cultural landscape is a mirrored ecosystem of great complexity, formed by the interaction of man and nature, coupled with a host of ecological processes. The human dependencies on and environmental adaptation of the bio-organisms and the surrounding landscape constitute the typical cultural landscape. Islands are a good example of a cultural landscape, and each mosaic pattern of marine and coastal ecosystems reflects bio-cultural diversity. Along with land-use patterns, wise use of biological organisms and indigenous knowledge has expanded to islands in the Asia-Pacific region in several ways (sea current and human impact, etc.). Loss in biodiversity and landscape diversity as well as cultural diversity owing to global warming and rapid urbanization are emerging issues for island ecosystems all over the world. In order to sustain the historical coexistence between man and natural systems, we ecologists must continue to search for a holistic solution for academic consilience. In this paper, I present the vision and practical characteristics of island ecology with a view toward the conservation of the traditional landscape and bio-cultural diversities in the seascape.

농촌거주 일본인 결혼이주여성의 지역사회 적응과정에 대한 문화기술 (Ethnography on the Adaptation Processes of Japanese Marriage Immigrant Women to Community in Rural Areas)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and describe cultural meanings for married Japanese immigrant women in rural Korean communities. Methods: The informants were 10 women in rural areas. Data were collected from August 2017 to June 2018 through in-depth interviews and participant observations and analyzed using text analysis and taxonomic methods developed by Spradley. Results: The meanings of adaptation were classified into five cultural domains: Practicing the doctrine, accepting the difference, redemption, true home, and confronting reality. The subthemes according to meanings of adaptation were comprised of international marriage with a sense of calling, bearing with sense of duty, and making a living substantively. The subthemes in this study reflect the process of adaptation. The cultural themes in the process of adaptation were overcoming differences and conflicts between Korea and Japan to achieve true family. Conclusion: The adaptation processes of married Japanese immigrant women included making their living reality known and recognizing the times when exchanges between Koreans and Japanese cannot exist within a hostile composition.

북한이탈주민의 자기효능감이 남한사회문화적응에 미치는 영향: 경제적 적응의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Self-efficacy of North Korean defectors The Influence of the Adaptation to Social and Cultural Adjustment in South Korea: A Study on the Moderating Effect of Economic Adaptation)

  • 본 연구는 북한이탈주민의 자기효능감이 그들의 남한사회문화적응에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 인천, 서울, 안산, 원주에 거주하는 북한이탈주민 209명을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 연구결과 북한이탈주민은 남한사회에서 거주기간이 길어질수록, 연령이 낮아질수록 남한사회에 대한 언어나 문화적인 측면에서 이질감이 낮게 나타났다. 반면, 나이나 거주기간이 탈북이주민의 낮은 사회적 지위에 대한 지각, 차별감 및 편견을 극복하는데 사회적응에 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 북한이탈주민은 남한에 오랜 기간 거주해도 그들에 대한 차별감이나 편견을 극복하지 못하며 대부분 살아가고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 북한이탈주민이 남한사회에서 사회문화적응에 가장 높은 영향을 미치는 요인은 개인의 내적요인인 자기효능감임이 밝혀졌다. 이 자기효능감은 남한사회에서 사회문화적응뿐만 아니라 경제적 적응을 하기 위해 필요한 자신의 능력과 업무에 대한 유능감에 영향을 주어 그들이 사회현장에서 자신감을 가지고 생활하게 하며 이밖에 외부의 다양한 스트레스를 극복해 가면서 나아갈 수 있도록 작용하고 있음이 검증되었다.
