Constance Fenimore Woolson is among those whom scholars have for long been trying to rediscover and add to the list of representative American writers. The primary methodology has been regionalism, based on the fact that most of her work portrays remote, exotic regions in and out of America. Still, Woolson remains obscure to general readers as well as literary critics outside a small circle of her scholarship. This essay attributes that obscurity to Woolson scholars' blind reliance on regionalism's nationalistic assumption in reading Woolson's multifaceted writing, and proposes to explore her nationally and regionally displacing view of the rigidly stereotypical and ideologically biased binary opposition between the center and the margin in postbellum America. The essay takes as an example the only story by Woolson that has never been reprinted or anthologized until very recently, "In Sloane Street," and examines why it resists the scholarly endeavor to regional categorization. The examination especially focuses on how the story exposes the Americanizing conceptualization of the region and its limits. The essay concludes with an attention to the story's ending where Woolson abruptly yet deliberately introduces a form of almanac as the main character Gertrude's mode of daily record. The attention to that uniquely hybrid genre in the American literary tradition, which encompasses the public and the private, the universal and the local, sheds light on Woolson's authorial intention to deconstruct the Manichean view of literary regionalism.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the types of jeans fashion in the basis of designer brand. and to analyze the symbolic characters of jeans fashion. Designer brand re-established jeans fashion by compounding high cultural factors and low cultural factors. broke up the boundary between street fashion and high fashion. and escaped from fixed idea on materials and design. This study divides the types of jeans fashion within the designer brand into classifications of Hippie style, Punk style, American Street style, Neo-classic style, and Grungy style. Today, reinterpreting the resistant image of jeans fashion, designers creates the various styles and also restores the upscale image of it. The symbolic characters of jeans fashion are summerized as sexuality, deconstructiveness, conspicuousness, humour, and multiculturalism. As the results of the symbolic characters of jeans fashion in the new Millennium era will suggest the wide aesthetic expression and continue to influence a more diverse jeans fashion trends.

The aim of this study is to find what architectural restoration and street-scaping conservation of early settlement in Virginia, which have processed on the style of 18th centuries. One of the settlements in Virginia was Williamsburg that located in the high land between Jamestown and Yorktown. In 1698, the capital of Virginia was moved from Jamestown for the safer environment. At that time they constructed the town like a small urban that had a straight-lined Duke Glocester Street, Georgian style buildings, and landscapes of 18th centuries. Before 1928 the village was flown into ruins, but Rector of the church, Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin, understood the value of reservation to restore the village as colonial architectural style that has an original figure. John Rockefeller Jr. has taken part in his restoration of colonial style of architecture and culture. This paper surveyed nine cases of buildings and srtreet-scape on Duke Glocester Street. Most of the buildings on the street have a proposition, balance, and equipment of Georgian architectural facade in 18th centuries. The conclusion has three points. First, the Williamsburg has been reserved as an early colonial settlement through the restoration of architecture and street-scape design. Second, main architectural style is a Georgian form that has a balance, proportion, and simplicity of facade. Also new buildings and additions of architecture have to keep 'Design Review Guideline of Colonial Williamsburg' in order to contribute the existing colonial buildings. Third, the main street-scape, Duke Glocester Street shows Georgian architecture and cultural life pattern with tradition.

첨단 디지털 기술의 발전과 함께 도시의 가로 공간도 그 변화를 하고 있다. 이동 통신 기기와 인터넷은 우리 인간의 라이프스타일에 큰 변화를 주었고, 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅은 실내 공간에서 가로 공간으로 그 적용범위를 확대 해 나가고 있다. 가로시설물은 인간의 가로 공간의 삶을 풍요롭게 하여 주는 편의 시설로서 첨단화되어지고 있다. 본 연구는 우선 이러한 현상에 관하여 문헌조사를 통해 일반적인가로 시설물 개체 수 변화의 실태를 분석하였다. 또한 디지털세대와 관련된 대표적인 두 곳, 대학로와 홍대 걷고 싶은 거리의 가로 시설물의 개체 수 및 그 이용실태를 조사 하였다. 다음으로 홍대 앞 가로공간의 사용자와 가로시설물 관리자들과의 표적 집단 면접 조사(FGI :Focus Group Interview)를 실행하여 가로시설물의 이용 및 관리 행태와 인식도를 조사하여 정보공유 및 문화적 교류, 자동화 및 상호 작용성, 기능의 가변성등의 핵심요소를 추출하였다. 이러한 내용을 다시 연구 검토하여 3I 요소 즉 정보화(Information), 지능화(Intellectualization), 그리고 통합화(Integration)라는 디지털 환경에서의 가로시설물의 변화 요소를 정리하였다. 이는 향후 첨단 디지털화 하는 정보 관련 가로시설물의 개발 및 디자인 과정의 방향설정에 적용되질 것으로 사료된다.

그 동안 서울시 종로구 역사문화거리는 북촌, 서촌, 인사동, 삼청동을 중심으로 전통 및 골목상권에 진입하고 있는 대형유통시설과 대규모 민간 투자로 인하여 월 임대료가 급속도로 상승하였고, 상인은 경제적 부담으로 인하여 영업환경이 점점 악화되고 있다. 이에 상인들의 영업환경을 유지하기 위해 입지적, 경제적, 문화적, 정책적 환경을 개선하여 기존 상권의 문제점을 보완하고, 잠재적 가치를 발굴하여 지역 상권의 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 본 연구는 종로구 역사문화거리를 중심으로 상인의 연령을 30-40대, 50대, 60대 이상으로 구분하고, 입지적, 경제적, 문화적, 정책적 환경을 고려하여 영업환경만족도 영향요인을 분석하였다. 주요 분석결과를 살펴보면, 30-40대 상인은 타 연령층과 비교하여 교통 접근성, 상권 내 유동인구, 권리금, 월 임대료에 대한 만족도가 높을수록 영업환경만족도가 증가하였다. 50대 상인은 타 연령층과 비교하여 문화단체 및 예술가 활동, 커뮤니티 지원시설 확대, 프랜차이즈 선별적 입지불허에 대한 만족도가 높을수록 영업환경만족도가 높았다. 60대 이상 상인은 타 연령층과 비교하여 보행 접근성, 월 매출액, 상인 공동체, 역사문화보존, 정부의 상권보호에 대한 만족도가 높을수록 영업환경만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.

The purposes of this study is to identify a proper spot to create a symbolic place for the International Jazz Festival and to improve the connections among the place assets of Gapyeong as a place marketing strategies. To this end, the analysis and interpretation of spatial structure was conducted using space syntax. The results of the study showed that the entire structure of the space formed in the axis of a total of 200. The value of total integration was 0.833, which is relatively low, and the local integration degree was 1.588 degrees. Gahwa Street has the highest value of full integration (1.264) among the major points related with the Festival, followed by the former Gapeyong Station area (1.189). As a result, the former Gapeyong station area was identified as a recommendable place for symbolic place because it is highly accessible to the surrounding areas and spacious enough to function as a plaza. Developing a cultural street occupied by jazz cafes, concerts, shops and restaurants, and transforming the old railroad into a linear park will enhance the image of jazz city and help place marketing.

Indeterminancy is one of the thought systems which explains all things with not 'either-or' but 'both-and' the conditions and qualities of human identities and inner state. A view of the world of Dionisos of Nietzsche's and the character of Manneristic trend which has resolved the sense of alienation of men by paradoxic expression has succeeded to romanticism surrealism and postmodernism. 1. Cross-dressing has increased under contemporary conditions. There also have been various cross-dressing phenomena in the past but it appears strongly now that it would destroy the cultural stereotypes and give rise to the cultural insecurities in contemporary conditions. 2. The indeterminancy of status that is wealth versus poverty impacts on variations of contemporary dress. This has been represented by neglecting traditional code which is related to wealth in costume by conversion of the symbols of wealth and poverty as disguise with moderation simplicity and additionally poverty image instead of ostentation. 3. In the cultural aspect that is mother culture/ subculture the author has investigated black street fashion which has newly become visible. The black street fashion is wide spread in black popular music such as jazz Rhythm & Blues Reggae and Rap which is subculture against white. The external values of indeterminancy in fashion are n대-manneristic tendencies as deformation eclectic friction and irrational structure and graffiti method. The inner values by indeterminant expression in fashion are irony and paradox grotesque satire and amusement.

Hangang Artpark construction is an enterprise founded in 2018 that involved installing public artworks created by 37 different people (teams) in Hangang Park located in Yeouido and Ichon Park. An iconic public space in Seoul, Hangang Park is turning into an even better public space due to the efforts to change the park into an eco-friendly, cultural-artistic space in tandem with the change in times. The objective of the Hangang Artpark construction business is to augment the environmental and scenic value of Hangang not only to provide a space for leisurely activities but also to revive it as a cultural-artistic area. This is a study of the concept and the design and installation processes of "Thinking of each other", a project by the Hangang Artpark construction business. This art piece has been installed in the wetlands and it trails along Ichon Hangang Park, which was created during the environmental recovery project. The piece consists of sculptures molded into animal shapes that are unique to the location and ecology of the area, displayed in harmony with the park's street furniture. By showing the coexistence of animals that existed in Hangang in the past along with the current inhabitants and the natural enemies of these inhabitants, the piece displays an ecofriendly scene. Moreover, by incorporating this piece into the street facilities of the park, such as gazebos, streetlights, surveillance cameras, and perches, the piece exhibits a different kind of street view compared to the installation style of other conventional environmental artworks. The various sculptures are installed along with the street facilities throughout the trail, rather than in a specific location intended for artworks, thereby achieving harmony with the park scene. In so doing, the piece elicits in the beholder an environment-friendly way of thinking, and at the same time, gives them a sense of calm and pleasure. Further, the paper researches the methods of safely installing art pieces in public spaces and of maintaining these installations.

본 연구에서는 카이펑 시 역사 문화거리인 서점거리를 대상으로 서점거리의 경관 구성 요소에 나타난 경관 색채의 특징을 분석하여 서점거en리의 환경 색채에 대한 전체성을 이론적 배경을 제공하고자 한다. 문헌 고찰을 통해 역사 문화거리의 경관 구성요소에 대한 체크리스트를 도출하고, 청대 건축적 색채의 일반적인 특징과 경관 색채의 기본적인 분석방법에 대해 파악하였다. 또한, 서점거리 경관 구성의 요소 및 경관 색채에 대한 현장조사를 실시하고 색채 분석은 <한국표준색 색채분석> 프로그램을 적용하여 분석을 진행하였으며, 색상수치 표기는 먼셀 표색계를 사용하여 표기하였다. 연구 결과를 보게 되면 서점거리의 경관색채는 R계열, PB계열, Y계열, 무채색(N)계열로 구성되어 있으며 전체적으로 색채는 높은 전체성을 나타내었다. 청대 건축 색채의 일반적인 특성을 비교함으로써 서점거리의 전체적인 경관 색채는 청대 건축 색채의 일반적인 특성에 상당 부분 부합한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 사인과 시설물, 조형물의 색채 활용에서는 미흡한 부분이 많이 존재하였기에 사인과 시설물 등 경관 요소의 색채계획을 추가하여 시각 정보의 식별 가능성을 강화하고 거리 색채의 단계적인 변화를 증가시켜야 할 필요성이 요구된다.

본 연구의 목적은 빅토리아 알렉산더(Victoria Alexander)의 '보완된 문화 다이아몬드(Modified Cultural Diamond)'모델이 제시한 분배 체계의 역할을 비판적으로 탐구하여 쟁점화하는 데 있다. 스트리트 아티스트인 뱅크시(Banksy)를 단일 사례로 채택하고, 다양한 이차자료를 본 연구의 목적에 따라 수집·분석하였다. 먼저, 본 연구는 분배 체계를 구성하는 시장 매개자들로 인한 뱅크시 작품의 미학적 담론의 형성 및 가치 증대에 대하여 살펴보았다. 더불어, 본 논문은 뱅크시의 행위와 작품을 알렉산더의 이론적 틀에 위치시키며, '보안된 문화 다이아몬드'의 분배 체계가 가진 다음 세 가지 측면에서 비판적으로 논하였다; 첫째, 분배 체계로 인한 예술가와 예술품의 분리; 둘째, 예술가와 소비자 간 직접적인 연결의 단절; 셋째, 예술가에 의한 작품 분배 가능성 배제. 이와 같은 논의를 바탕으로, 본 연구는 알렉산더의 이론적 모델을 학문적으로 쟁점화하는 것에 그 의의가 있다.
