  • Forecasting is a critical task for fashion companies because of continuous change in fashion and long process lead-time. Therefore, it is of great importance for both scholars and companies to understand how forecasted fashion styles are accepted by consumers. This research aimed to investigate consumer acceptance of fashion styles in Korea. The study examined and compared oversea collections of women's wear to the street fashion in Korea for seven seasons from 02 s/s to 05 s/s. Information on oversea collections were obtained from the magazine, Fashion Show, and the street fashion information from Seoul Fashion Design Center. The results showed that overall trends presented in oversea collections have been well accepted, while acceptance of specific styles or items varied. During the period of this research, sporty style and feminine style were very strong in the street fashion. Many styles and items were modified and selectively accepted probably because of cultural differences and limitations of mass production. Some styles which were presented in oversea collections were not accepted in Korea, and at the same time some cases were observed only in the street fashion in Korea. The results of this study provide guidelines for Korean apparel companies in merchandise planning and empirical findings to deepen the understanding on Korean society with respect to fashion.

A great difference had been observed between western and oriental food lifestyle. By the frequent contacts with each other, however, current oriental food lifestyle is apt to be much westernized. But the food culture of Chosun tribe in Yenbeun, in spite of natural, local, cultural and social demographical factor of change, has been almost preserved in basic convention for 140 years. It can be observed in choice, acceptance and fixation of food that the management of traditional food and eating behavior has been subtained preserving their unique tradition in Chosun tribe.

  • Sustainability is an important topic within a variety of design areas, including fashion. The 'fast fashion' behavior of consumers is one of the big challenges that sustainable living faces. For the fashion industry, sustainability can be seen as a regulating ethos for higher quality and longer-lasting products, which I argue as embodying an intersection between sustainability and luxury. This study establishes a conceptual model for 'sustainable luxury' that can be implemented as a guide in the fashion design industry and education field. This paper will focus particularly on craft-based fashion within the industry. Through conceptual analysis and case studies, I analyze sustainable luxury through the scope of Soper's (2007) 'alternative hedonism', linking hedonic and selfidentity values as a foundation for the acceptance of and continued drive toward more sustainable luxury products. Unlike other studies which only emphasize the ecological and environmental aspects of sustainability, viz. green/eco design, this study explores sustainability as balanced with its four dimensions: environmental, economic, social, and cultural. Case studies will exemplify this redefined notion of sustainable luxury.

  • Objectives: With increasing concerns for the rapidly growing minority population in South Korea, this literature review addressed a range of mental health risks among multiethnic youths (MY) in South Korea by 1) comparing mental health outcomes with those of native-born youths and 2) identifying multiple layers of relevant environmental factors, from family and school relationships to culture. Methods: We reviewed 54 studies that fulfilled specific inclusion criteria. Results: Multiple common risk/protective factors, including family separation, family relationship quality, parental socioeconomic and mental health status, social relationships at school, and cultural acceptance, were noted. Conclusion: In general, empirical evidence indicates that minority youths have relatively heightened risks for emotional and behavioral problems. Future studies must elucidate the complex interplay between multiple risk and protective factors and the long-term adaptation and mental health service utilization of MY.

  • The current trend of entertainment programs is an "Sub-character." This study is to find out which strategies were chosen, considering the entertainment program "Hang Out With Yoo" as the beginning and front-runner of craze for Sub-characters. The following results were deduced: implementation of trendy characters, aggressive acceptance of growth narrative and expansion of episodes. The success or failure of an entertainment program depends on the implementation method of differentiated characters. At this point in time when Sub-characters are continuously developed, this program is meaningful in that it has presented the strategies for Sub-characters reflecting the demand of audience.

  • This article analyzes the relationship between Mexican writer Alfonso Reyes and the group of thinkers, writers, and critics that conformed the Ateneo de la Juventud, in order to show the reciprocal influence that existed between them. The article also considers the Ateneo's role in breaking from the old Positivist model and the acceptance of new ideas around spiritualism, youthfulness, the creation of a thinking and critical sphere, and intellectual aristocracy, among others. The relationship between the ideas of the Ateneo de la Juventud and the Mexican Revolution are discussed, as well as the social and cultural practices of dialogue and friendship, which are considered to be key to understanding the manifestations of intellectual sociability that took place at the turn of the century in Mexico and Latin America. The article also presents an overview of the role that the reading of classical texts and modern thinkers (Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Bergson, Boutroux among others) had for ateneístas, as well as the way in which they preserved an arielista sense of a relationship between knowledge, ethics, and aesthetics as formative keys for the ideas men of their time.

  • In modern society, many adults seek emotional solace by reconnecting with their childhood memories through "kidult" culture, especially as single-person households increase. This trend spans fashion, collectibles, movies, animations, games, and character merchandise, with Hollywood playing a significant role in its growth during the 1980s and 1990s. Kidult culture allows adults to relieve stress, foster creativity, and strengthen social connections, enhancing their quality of life. As this culture gains mainstream acceptance, companies are producing diverse products featuring beloved characters, appealing to a wide age range. The rise in single-person households has amplified the importance of personal expression and individuality, driving the popularity of kidult culture. Companies are leveraging this trend to create innovative designs that resonate with consumer preferences. This cultural expansion promotes new design forms and aesthetics, reflecting the evolving relationship between design and consumption. Kidult culture's growth underscores its significance in contemporary consumer and design culture, offering valuable insights into modern societal trends.
