  • If continuous moving objects are managed by conventional database, it is not possible for them to store all position information changed over time in the database. Therefore, a time period of regular rate is determined and position information of moving objects are discretely stored in the system for every time period. However, if continuous moving objects are managed as discrete model, we will have problems which cannot properly answer to the query about uncertain past or future position information. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose the method and algorithm which use the history information stored in the same database, to estimate the past or future location of moving objects. The cubic spline interpolation is used to estimate the past location and the mean movement value of the history information is used to predict the future location of moving objects. Finally, from the location estimation experimentation of using virtual trajectory and location sample, we proved that the proposed cubic spline function has less error than the linear function.

  • In numerical analysis on evaluating the thermal performance of the thermal equipment, numerical values of thermodynamic properties such as temperature, pressure, specific volume, enthalpy and entropy are required. But the steam table itself cannot be used without modelling. In this study applicability of neural networks in modelling the wide temperature range of wet saturated vapor region was examined. the multi-layer neural network consists of a input layer with 1 node, two hidden layers with 10 and 20 nodes respectively and a output layer with 6 nodes. Quadratic and cubic spline interpoations methods were also applied for comparison. Neural network model revealed similar percentage error to spline interpolation. From these results, it is confirmed that the neural networks could be powerful method in modelling the wide range of the steam table.

  • Computer simulation plays an important role for a theoretical foundation in convergence technology and the interpolation is to know the unknown values from known values on grid points. Therefore it is an important problem to select an interpolation method for digital simulation. The aim of this paper is to compare analysis of interpolation methods for digital simulation. we test six different interpolation methods namely: Quartic-Lagrangian, Cubic Spline, Fourier, Hermit, PWENO and SL-WENO. Through digital simulation of a linear advection equation, we analyse pros and cons for each method. In order to compare performance, we introduce accuracy computing and Error functions. The accuracy computing is used well-known $L^1-norm$ and the Error functions are dispersion function, dissipation function and total error function. High-order methods well apply to computer simulation, unfortunately, side-effects (Oscillation) happen.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that extracts the airway and lung without loss of information in spite of the pulmonary vessel and nodules of the chest wall in the chest CT images. We use a mask image in order to improve the performance and to save processing time of airway and lung segmentation. In the second step, by converting left and right lungs to binary image using the morphological information, we have removed the solitary pulmonary nodule to identify the value of the threshold lung and the chest wall. The last step is to connect the outer shell of the lung with cubic Spline interpolation by adding the perfect pixel and computing the distance of the removed part. Experimental results using Matlab verified that the proposed method could overcome the drawbacks of the conventional methods.

  • In this paper, studied error of various signal interpolation methods in vibration signal analysis with digital order tracking. Because, interpolation errors are related with sampling rate and amount of calculation. Appled Signal interpolation methods are Lagrange, Newton and Cubic-spline. This paper proposed more proper interpolation method. Also, we suggest guideline for adaptive application of signal interpolation methods with Calculated results.

  • The purpose of format conversion is to convert a wide range of personal computer video formats into a target format. Circuits for the conversion have been developed by means of interpolation techniques, such as zero-order interpolation, bilinear interpolation, and bisigmoidal interpolation. This paper proposes a scan converter using cubic splines. The converter was modeled in VHDL on Max+PlusII and implemented with an FPGA chip. The circuit gives much better conversion performance than a scan converter with zero-order or linear interpolation.

  • As the society increasingly embraces the high - tech digital information age, the field of image processing becomes progressively more branched out and becoming an imperative field. However, image data is deteriorated due to various causes during transmission and salt and pepper noise is typical. Typical methods for removing salt and pepper noise include CWMF, SWMF, and A-TMF. However, existing methods are somewhat insufficient in their ability to remove noise in salt and pepper noise environments. Therefore, in this paper, after it is determined whether noise removal is needed, the following measures were taken. If the center pixel was non-noise, the original pixel was preserved, If it was noise, we proposed a two - dimensional spline interpolation method and a median filter depending on the noise density of the local mask. For the purpose of objective judgment, we compared the results with that of existing methods and used PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio) as a judgment criterion.

  • In this paper, a dynamic prediction algorithm using the cumulative distribution function for traffic volume is presented as a new method for predicting highway traffic rate more accurately, where an approximation function of the cumulative distribution function is obtained through numerical methods such as natural cubic spline interpolation and Levenberg-Marquardt method. This algorithm is a new structure of random number generation algorithm using the cumulative distribution function used in financial mathematics to be suitable for predicting traffic flow. It can be confirmed that if the highway traffic rate is simulated with this algorithm, the result is very similar to the actual traffic volume. Therefore, this algorithm is a new one that can be used in a variety of areas that require traffic forecasting as well as highways.
