Comparison of the Results of Finite Difference Method in One-Dimensional Advection-Dispersion Equation (유한차분 모형에 의한 일차원 이송-확산방정식 계산결과의 비교)

  • ELM, a characteristic line based method, was applied to advection-dispersion equation, and the results obtained were compared with those of Eulerian schemes(Stone-Brian and QUICKEST). The calculation methods consisted of Lagrangian interpolation scheme and cubic spline interpolation scheme for the advection calculation, and the Crank-Nicholson scheme for the dispersion calculation. The results of numerical methods were as follows: (1) for Gaussian hill: ELM, using Lagrangian interpolation scheme, gave the most accurate computational result, ELM, using cubic spline interpolation scheme, and QUICKEST scheme gave numerical damping for Peclet number 50. Stone-Brian scheme gave phase shift introduced in the numerical solution for Peclet number 10 and 50. (2) for advanced front: All schemes gave accurate computational results for Peclet number 1 and 4. ELM, Lagrangian interpolation scheme, and Stone,Brian scheme gave dissipation error and ELM, using cubic spline interpolation scheme, and QUICKEST scheme gave numerical oscillation for Peclet number 50.

  • In this paper, the performances of various channel estimation schemes for DVB-H system are investigated. The linear interpolation, the second order interpolation, the cubic spline interpolation, and the time-domain interpolation, which are used in frequency domain, are chosen as the channel estimation schemes. We derived the performances of Mean Square Error (MSE), Bit Error Rate (BER), and the complexity of calculation in Rayleigh and Rician fading channel through computer simulations. From the simulation results, the cubic spline interpolation shows the best performance under high $E_b/N_0$ environments.

  • 다양한 보간 기법을 정리해 보고 이를 통해서 기존의 보간 기법의 한계를 고찰해 본다. 보간의 효율성과 보간 결과 영상의 화질과는 Trade off 관계가 있으며, 이를 적절한 수준에서 결정하는 것은 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 Quadratic B-spline을 기저 함수로 하는 윤곽보존형 보간 필터를 사용한 영상확대 알고리즘을 제안한다. Unser의 Cardinal Cubic spline함수에 비해 적은 하드웨어만으로도 이상적인 저역 통과 필터의 특성을 가지며, 입력영상의 윤곽의 방향성을 고려한 적응적인 보간 기법의 적용으로 화질이 우수한 영상확대 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • 본 논문은 비-스플라인(B-spline) 보간법을 이용한 영상의 변환에 대하여 논한다. 국소적인 영상의 정보나 세분화된 영상의 정보를 얻기 위해 영상의 확대 변환이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 영상의 확대 변환을 위해 선형 (linear), 큐빅 (cubic), 인근치 (nearest neighbour)등의 보간법 [2]과 비-스플라인(B-Spline) 보간법[1][3][4]을 적용하였다. 실험을 통하여 비-스플라인 보간법이 현재 많이 사용되고있는 인근치 보간법, 선형 보간법, 큐빅 보간법들 보다 상대적으로 우월한 영상의 질을 가져옴을 보였다. 결론적으로, 영상의 기하학적 변환에 있어 기존의 세 가지 보간법들 보다 비-스플라인 보간법을 사용한 경우에 더 좋은 결과를 가지며, 비-스플라인 함수의 차수가 고차로 갈수록 영상의 질이 향상됨을 알 수 있다. 렌즈 등에 의한 왜곡현상을 가지고 있는 위성 사진이나 의료 영상을 기하학적 변환을 통하여 보정하는데 비-스플라인 보간법을 적용할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, the efficient channel estimation schemes for DRM system(AM band digital radio broadcasting standard) are investigated. In frequency domain, by means of the linear interpolation, the second order interpolation, cubic spline interpolation, and time domain interpolation, the channel impulse response is estimated respectively to compensate the attenuation due to the fading. And in time domain, the frequency channel impulse response is averaged to reduce the attenuation due to the AWGN. By the simulation, the performance of MSE, BER and the complexity of calculation is compared and analyzed for each interpolation scheme.

  • Linear interpolation is a basic sampling method for volume visualization. This method generates good images but sometimes it is inferior to our high expectation because it is encouraged to produce high quality images in the medical applications. In this paper, B spline based tri-cubic interpolation is used for the re-sampling step. The conventional B spline is an approximation method which does not cross control points so that we moved the control points and the curve crosses the original control points. In the rendering step, the empty space leaping is applicable to increase rendering speed. We have to calculate the maximum and minimum values for each block to detect empty space. The convex hull property of B spline enables the values of control points to be used as the maximum and minimum values. As a result, tri-cubic interpolated volume rendering is possible in interactive speed.

Location Prediction of Mobile Objects using the Cubic Spline Interpolation (3차 스플라인 보간법을 이용한 이동 객체의 위치 추정)

  • Location information of mobile objects is applied to vehicle tracking, digital battlefields, location based services, and telematics. Their location coordinates are periodically measured and stored in the application systems. The linear function is mainly used to estimate the location information that is not in the system at the query time point. However, a new method is needed to improve uncertainties of the location representation, because the location estimation by linear function induces the estimation error. This paper proposes an application method of the cubic spline interpolation in order to reduce deviation of the location estimation by linear function. First, we define location information of the mobile object moving on the two-dimensional space. Next, we apply the cubic spline interpolation to location estimation of the proposed data model and describe algorithm of the estimation operation. Finally, the precision of this estimation operation model is experimented. The experimentation comes out more accurate results than the method by linear function, although the proposed location estimation function uses the small amount of information. The proposed method has an advantage that drops the cost of data storage space and communication for the management of location information of the mobile objects.

  • A study on the gray images morphing using morphology and spline interpolation is realized. The adapted method is that join the 2 broken line together with the dilation of morphology to the morphing image, remove the holes to be a soft edge at the image boundaries and extract the featuring points with the cubic spline interpolation. As a result of experiment the method elicits more smoothing image morphing in detail and speed up the interframe processing.

  • VoIP를 이용한 인터넷 전화에서 패킷 손실로 인한 음질 저하는 큰 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 VoIP에서 가장 많이 쓰이는 코덱 중 하나인 G.729 에서의 기존 패킷 손실 복구 방법들을 살펴보고 성능을 개선하고자 한다. 제안한 방법은 보간법의 적용을 위해 LSP 파라미터와 FCB 이득 파라미터의 미래값을 추정하며, 연속된 패킷 손실에서의 파라미터 자연성을 높이기 위해 LSP 파라미터와 ACB 길이 파라미터를 선택적으로 3차 spline 보간한다. TMIT 등의 환경에서 기존의 방법과 제안한 방법의 SD를 비교하여 객관적 평가를 수행하였고, 실험 결과 제안한 방법으로 성능이 개선됨을 확인하였다.

  • In order to utilize a parallel machine tool for CAM system, the development of adequate interpolator is necessary. This paper presents a quintic B-spline interpolator with algorithm of limiting maximum interpolation error. The favored property of near arc-length parametrization in the curve representation is used in the implementation of the reference command generation. Then, this interpolator is applied to cubic parallel manipulator to show its validity.
