Surface Potential Properties of CuPc/Au Device with Different Substrate Temperature (CuPe/Au 소자의 기판 온도 변화에 따른 표면전위 특성)

  • Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are of interest for use in widely area electronic applications. We fabricated a copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) based field-effect transistor with different metal electrode. So we need the effect of the substituent group attached to the phthalocyanine on the surface potential was investigated by Kelvin probe method with varying temperature of the substrate. We were obtained the positive shift of the surface potential for CuPc thin film. We observed the electron displacement at the interface between Au electrode and CuPc layer and we were confirmed by the surface potential measurement.

  • Thin film capacitors with Al-Polymer-Al sandwich structure were fabricated. The bottom and top aluminium (Al) electrodes were deposited by vacuum evaporation and copper phthalocyanine (CuPc), polyaniline-emeraldine base (Pani-EB) and cobalt phthalocyanine/polyaniline - emeraldine base (CoPc /Pani-EB) blend films (which can be used as buffer hole injection layer in OLEDs) were deposited by spin coating technique. X-ray diffractograms indicated amorphous nature of the polymer films whose thicknesses were measured by capacitance and Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) methods. AC conduction studies revealed that the conduction mechanism responsible in these films is variable range hopping of polarons. From D.C conduction studies, it is observed that, the nature of conduction is ohmic in the lower fields and at higher fields the dominating D.C conduction is of Poole-Frenkel type.

  • $\alpha$,$\beta$,$\varepsilon$ type copper phthalocy $\alpha$,$\beta$,$\varepsilon$ type copper phthalocyanine(CuPc) pigment was purified by a simple train sublimation technique. The layered photoconductor was made with $\varepsilon$ type CuPc as a carrier generation layer(CGL) and polyvinly carvazol(PVCz) as a carrier transport layer(CLT). A CGL of CuPc was electrochemical deposited on an Al substrate used as cathode in pigment dispersion solutions. a CTL of PVCz pwas spin coated on $\varepsilon$ type CuPc thin film by a spin coater. The effect of sonication time, electrophotographic property of the layered photoconductor were studied with surface coverage, surface potential and sensitivity.

  • The N $O_{2}$ gas-detection characteristics were investigated using the functional organic Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of Copper-tetra-tert-butylphthalocyanine (CuTBP), Dilithium phthalocyanine (Li$_{2}$Pc), N-docosylpyridinium TCNQ(C$_{22}$Py(TCNQ)), Polyamic acid alkylamine salts (PAAS). The optimum conditions for a film deposition were obtained through a study of .pi.-.ALPHA. isotherms and the deposited film status was confirmed by electrical and optical methods such as UV/visible absortion spectra, thickness measurements by ellipsometry, and electrical capacitances. A response of the LB films to the N $O_{2}$ gas was measured by a change of the electrical conductivities when the film is exposed to the gases. The CuTBP LB film shows the biggest change of the electrical conductivities when it is exposed to the N $O_{2}$ gases. And the order of gas-detection performance is the following;Li$_{2}$Pc, $C_{22}$Py(TCNQ), and PAAS LB films. Especially, the CuTBP and Li$_{2}$Pc LB films not only show the bigger change in the electircal conductivities when exposed to the gas, but return to the original state when the gas is desorbed.d.

Preparation and Properties of Organic Electroluminescent Devices Using Low Molecule Compounds (저분자 화합물을 이용한 유기 전계발광소자의 제작과 특성 연구)

  • The multi-layered OELDs(organic electroluminescent devices) were prepared on the patterened ITO (indium tin oxide)/glass substrates by the vacuum thermal evaporation method. The $Alq_3$ (tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum) low molecule compound was used as the light emission layer. TPD(triphenyl-diamine) and $\alpha-NPD$ were used as the hole transport layer. CuPc (Copper phthalocyanine) was also used as the hole injection layers. In addition, QD2 (quinacridone2) organic material with $10\AA$ thickness was deposited in the $Alq_3$ emission layer to improve the luminance efficiency. The threshold voltage was about 7V for all devices. The luminance and efficiency of devices was improved by substitution the $\alpha-NPD$ for TPD as the hole as the hole transport layer. The luminance efficiency of the OELD sample with QD2 thin film in the $Alq_3$ emission layer was found to be 1.55 lm/W, which is about 8 times larger value compared to the sample without QD2 thin layer.

Frbrication and characteristics of NO$_{2}$ Gas sensor using the phthalocyanines (프탈로시아닌을 이용한 NO$_{2}$ 가스센서의 제작 및 특성)

  • In this study, phthalocyanine thin films were prepared by vacuum sublimation method and investigated sensing characteristics of the films. The phthalocyannies used for the prepaation of the NO$_{x}$ sensors were metal-free Pc(H$_{2}$Pc) and metal Pc(CuPc, CoPc, PbPc). And the substrate temperatures maintained during the fomation of Pc films were varied between R.T. and 200$^{\circ]C$, and the base pressure was 5${\times}10^{6}$ torr. The relationships between NO$_{2}$ sensing properties and SEM analyses as a function of substrate temperatures during the formation of the films were investigated. Among the Pc films, PbPc film showed the best sensing characteristics. Particularlly, the PbPc films prepared at 70$^{\circ]C$ of the substrage temperature showen good sensitivity of 85% to 1ppm NO$_{2}$ gas at operating temperature 190$^{\circ]C$ and response time was about 24 seconds.
