The purpose of this study is to evaluate the removal efficiency of phosphorus from synthetic waste water by reduction and oxidation reaction of Cu-Zn metal alloy. Cu-Zn metal alloy applied in this study is composed of 40% of Zn and 60% of Cu, which is so called Muntz metal. And the fibrous type of metal alloy has approximately $200{\mu}m$ of thickness. Metal is oxidized in an aqueous solution to generate electron and metal ion. The mechanism of phosphate treatment is co-precipitation of metal ion and phosphorous ion at various pH and temperature. The treatment efficiency showed the maximum at a one cycle treatment. This result means that the surface area of reaction material is sufficient enough to get reaction equilibrium. Experiment is conducted at various pH from 5 to 9, and showed the maximum efficiency at pH 8. Phosphorous is dominated as a type of $H_2PO_4{^-}$ and $HPO_4{^{2-}}$ at this pH condition. We could not consider the temperature effect independently, because phosphorous removal efficiency showed such a complex mechanism. We could get high efficiency at lower temperature in this research.
In this study, cold-rolling and appropriate annealing was adopted for the grain refining of Cu-26.65Zn-4. 05Al-0.31Ti(wt%) shape memory alloy. For the cold deformation of this alloy the ducti1e $\alpha$-phase must be contained. After heat treatment at $550^{\circ}C$ the $(\alpha+$\beta)$-dual phase with 40vol.% $\alpha$-phase was obtained which could be rolled at room temperature. This alloy was cold rolled into a final thickness of 1.0mm with total reduction degrees of 70% and 90%. The rolled sheets were betanized at $800^{\circ}C$ for various times, then quenched into ice water. The grain size of co]d rolled samples were $60~80\mu\textrm{m}$ which is much smaller comparing with the hot-rolled samples. And the 90% rolled sample showed smaller grain size than the case of the 70% rolled one. The small grain size had influence on the phase transformation temperatures and stabilization of the austenitic phases.

The following work examines the growth rate and microstructure of the $AI_2O_3$-composite formation by melt oxdation of pentad AI-alloys. The I weight % of each metal elements Cu and Ni were added to AI-IMg-3Si-3Zn and AI-IMg- 3Si-5Zn alloys. The diffenent pentad AI-alloys were oxidized 20 hours long at 1373K and 1473K. The oxidation rates were determined by observing the weight gain. The macro- and microstructure of formed oxide layer were examined by optical microscopy. The AI-IMg-3Si-5Zn-lCu alloy revealed the best oxidation behavior, but formedoxide layer was inhomogeneous. The oxidation rate were accelerated, and the uniform growth of the oxide layer with fine microstructure were obtained by putting a thin layer of $SiO_2$ on the surface of the alloy.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of pb-free $Zn-(3\~6)\%Al-(1\~6)\%Cu$ solder alloys for ultra high temperature(>573K) which applied to air craft, space satellite, automotive, oil, gas well exploration and data logging of geo-thermal wells. Melting range, solderability, electric resistivity, microstructure and mechanical properties were examined with solder alloys casted in Ar gas atmosphere. $Zn-4\%Al-(1\~3)\%Cu,\;Zn-5\%Al-(2\~4)\%Cu\;and\;Zn-6\%Al-(3\~5)\%Cu$ alloys satisfied the optimum melting range of 643 to 673k for ultra high temperature solder. A melting temperature increased with increasing Cu content, but decreased with increasing Al content. The spreadability was improved with increasing hi content. But the content of Cu had no effect on the spreadability. The electric resistivity was lowered with increasing Al and decreasing Cu content. In all Zn-Al-Cu solder alloys, primary dendritic $\varepsilon$ phase(Zn-Cu), dendritic $\eta$ phase(Zn-Cu-Al), $\alpha(Al-Zn)-\eta$ eutectic and eutectoid phase were observed. The addition of Al increased the volume fraction of eutectic and eutectoid phase and it decreased f phases. Also, the addition of Cu increased slightly the volume fraction of e, the eutectic and eutectoid phases. With increasing total content of Al and Cu, a hardness and a tensile strength were linearly increased, but anelongation was linearly decreased.
This paper presents a hypothesis and its experimental validation that ∆E (Esec, corr - Ecorr) of cyclic polarization curve of an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy decreases firstly and then increases with the increasing of corrosion rate or corroded fraction Fcorr of alloy surface. The minimum value of ∆E is obtained when Fcorr ≈ 50%. In addition, a proportional relationship between ∆E and |50% - Fcorr| was found. This non-monotonic relation between ∆E and extent of localized corrosion indicates that additional attention should be paid on using ∆E to assess localized corrosion behaviour of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys.
The influence of aging treatment, addition elements and rolling reduction ratio on the microstructure, mechanical, electrical and bendability properties of Cu-Ni-Si-P-x (x = Fe, Sn, Zn) alloys for connector material application was investigated. SEM/EDS analysis exhibited that Ni2-Si precipitates with a size of 20~100 nm were distributed in grains. Fe, Sn, Zn elemnets in Cu-Ni-Si-P alloy imporved the mechanical strength but it was not favor in increasing of electrical conductivity. As higher final rolling reduction ratio, the strength and electrical conductivity is increased after aging treatment, but it indicated excellent bendability. Especially, Cu-2Ni-0.4Si-0.5Sn-0.1Fe-0.03P alloy show the tensile strength value of 700MPa and the electrical conductivity was observed to reach a maximum of 40%IACS. It is optimal for lead frame and connector.

This study was carried out to evaluate brazing characteristics of the braze joint between superhard alloy particles and carbon steel. Two types of insert metals that made by mechanical alloying process were selected for this study. One is composed of Cu, Zn and Ag(MIM-1) and the other one is composed of Cu, Zn, Ag and Cd.(MIM-2) The chemical compositions of these insert metals were similar to AWS BAg-20 and BAg-2a system. And the commercial insert metals(CIM-1, CIM-2) were also evaluated for the comparative study. The characterization of the insert metals were conducted by wettability tests, shear tensile test and microstructural analyses. The results indicated that wettability tests displayed that MIM-1 and CIM-1 insert metals had the larger wetting angle than MIM-2 and CIM-2 and the wetting angle of the MIM-1 showed higher value than that of CIM-1. However these values are less than $25^{\circ}$ that is recommended for standard value for usual insert metals. The highest value of shear tensile tests was obtained from the brazed joint that made by MIN-1 and the value was $2.29{\times}10^2MPa$. This value is appeared to be higher or same as the commercial insert metals. The microstructures of the inserts metals were composed of Cu-rich proeutectic structure for matrix and Ag-rich eutectic structure. The braze joint between superhard alloy particles and carbon steel produced by the MIM-1(Ag-Cu-Zn) system showed sound joint showing stable microstructures. However there was also some porosities at the interface.
The effects of Mg and Cu amounts on the casting characteristics and tensile property of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys were investigated for the development of high strength aluminium alloys for gravity mold casting. Increase of copper amounts in Al-6%Zn-3%Mgy% Cu alloys resulted in reduction of the fluidity of these alloys and had little effects on the tensile property of these alloys. Increase of magnesium amounts from 1.0wt% to 3.3wt% in Al-6%Zn-x%Mg-0.5%Cu alloys resulted in reduction of the elongation of these alloys from 12% to 3% and increase of the tensile strength of these alloys from 340MPa to 450MPa, but had little effects on the fluidity of these alloys.

Heavy metal removal study is conducted from synthetic waste water by reduction and oxidation(redox) reaction of Cu-Zn metal alloy and adsorption reaction of aluminium silicate. Heavy metal whose ionization tendency is smaller than zinc are reducted in an aqueous solution, and the concentration of ionized zinc is reduced by adsorption reaction. The average diameter of metal alloy micro fiber is about $200{\mu}m$, and the surface area is wide enough to get equilibrium in a single cycle treatment. A single cycle treatment of redox reaction of Cu-Zn metal alloy, could remove 100.0 % of Cr(III), 98.0 % of Hg, 92.0 % of Sn and 91.4 % of Cu respectively. An ionization tendency of chromium is very close to zinc, but removal efficiency of chromium by redox reaction is significant. This result shows that trivalent chromium ion is expected to generate hydroxide precipitation with $OH^-$ ion generated by redox reaction. Zinc ion generated by redox reaction is readily removed by adsorption reaction of aluminium silicate in a single cycle treatment. Other heavy metal components which are not perfectly removed by redox reaction also showed very high removal efficiency of 98.0 % or more by adsorption reaction. Aluminium ion is not increased by adsorption reaction of aluminium silicate. That means heavy metal ion removal mechanism by adsorption reaction is turned out to be not an ion exchange reaction, but an adsorption reaction.
