In this study, the effects of the structural properties of the catalyst on CO oxidation reaction by controlling the $Cu/CeO_2$ catalyst amount and calcination temperature were studied, and also the CO conversion rate of the catalyst at the temperature range of $100{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ was evaluated. XRD, Raman, BET, $H_2-TPR$, and XPS analyses were performed to confirm the effect of changes in the structural properties on the chemical properties of the catalyst. The result confirmed that a substitution bond between Cu and Ce was formed and a lot of Cu and Ce bonds were formed when the catalyst carrying 5 wt.%. Of Cu was calcined at $400^{\circ}C$. The Cu-Ce binding was confirmed by peak shifts in Raman analysis and also peaks appeared in $H_2-TPR$. In addition, the balance state analysis demonstrated that a lot of surface labile oxygen molecules are formed, which can be more easily contributed to the reaction with $Ce^{3+}$ species known to form a substitution bond easily. It was found that CO conversion rate of the catalyst used in this study was close to 100% at $150^{\circ}C$.
Polyvinylidenefluoride and Polytetrafluoroethylene have been irradiated by 1 keV Ar+ ion beam in an $O_2$ environment. Hydrophilic functional groups (such as -(C-O)-,-(C=O)-,-(C=O)-O- and so on) were formed on fluoropolymers. Contact angles of water to PVDF were reduced from $75^{\circ}$ to $31^{\circ}$. Re-increase of contact angle was originated from carbonization phase in case of high dose irradiation above $1{\times}10^{16} Ar^+cm^2$. Contact angles to PTFE decreased at low dose irradiation and were exaggerated to about $140^{\circ}$ due to cone type surface at high dose irradiation. Hydrophilic functional groups have played an important role on adhesion between metal and fluoropolymers by acid-base interaction and chemical bond formation. Adhesion of Pt/PVDF was enhanced by acid-base interaction because Pt is inert metal. Chemical bond formation between Cu and PTFE could enlarge the adhesion strength of Cu/PTFE.
The purpose of this study is to show the possibility of using Cu catalyst in removal of $NO_x$ from automobile exhaust which is regarded as the primary source of fine dust PM2.5. The energy and the bond lengths of the three possible structures of Cu-NO complex, which is formed by binding NO molecule to Cu, and the changes in IR and Raman spectra are calculated using MPW1PW91 method on the level of 6-311(+)G(d,p) of basis sets with Gaussian 09 program. As a result, the enthalpy of formation of the Cu-NO complexes are obtained as ${\Delta}H=104.89$, 91.98, -127.48 kJ/mol for the linear, bent, and bridging forms of them, respectively. And the bond lengths between N and O in NO complexes, which becomes longer than NO molecule, indicates that O is easily reduced from Cu-NO. In addition, the Cu-NO complexes using Cu catalyst can be easily measured by infrared or Raman spectroscopy because in the IR and Raman spectra of the NO and Cu-NO complexes the positon and the intensity of bands are definitely different in each vibration mode.
A superconducting phase La2CuO4+δ (Tc=44 K) has been prepared by electrochemical oxidation which allows the oxygen to intercalat into the La2O2 layers. According to the Cu K-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure spectroscopic analysis, the oxidized phase shows an overall spectra shift of about 0.5 eV to a higher energy region compared to the as sintered one with the occurrence of an additional peak corresponding to the transition to the |1s13dn+1L-14pσ1 > final state, indicating the oxidation of CuO2 layer. From the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic studies, it is found that the binding energy of La 3d5/2 is significantly shifted from 834.3 eV (as sintered La2CuO4) to 833.6 eV (as electrochemically oxidized La2CuO4+δ), implying that the covalency of the (La-O) bond is decreased due to the oxygen intercalation. The O 1s spectra do not provide an evidence of the superoxide or peroxide, but the oxide (O2-) with the contaminated carbonate (CO32-) based on the peaks at 529 eV and 532 eV, respectively, which is clearly confirmed by the Auger spectroscopic analysis. Oxygen contents determined by iodometric titration (δ=0.07) and thermogravimetry (δ=0.09) show good coincidence each other, also giving an evidence for the "O2-" nature of excess oxygen. From the above results, it is concluded that "O2-" appeared as O 1s peak at 528.6 eV is responsible for superconductivity of La2CuO4+δ.

A dimeric precursor, $[Cu(dmae)(OCOCH_3)(H_2O)]_2$ for the CVD of copper metal films, (dmaeH = N,N-dimethylaminoethanol) was synthesized by the reaction of copper(II) acetate monohydrate ($Cu(OCOCH_3)_2{\cdot}H_2O$) and dmaeH in toluene. The product was characterized by m.p. determination, elemental analysis and X-ray crystallography. Molecular structure of $[Cu(dmae)(OCOCH_3)(H_2O)]_2$ shows that a dimeric unit $[Cu(dmae)(OCOCH_3)(H_2O)]_2$ is linked to another through hydrogen bond and it undergoes facile decomposition at 300 C to deposit granular copper metal film under nitrogen atmosphere. The decomposition temperature, thermal behaviour, kinetic parameters, evolved gas pattern of the complex, morphology, and the composition of the film were also investigated.
Cu, Ni, and Mo were ion-diffused into the pure steel powder in the aqueous solution of $(CuNO_3)_2$, $Ni(NO_3)_2)_2$, and $(NH_4)_6Mo_7O_{24}$, to form partial diffusion bond prealloyed steel powder. The mechanical properties, and compacting and sintering characteristics were investigated as a function of Cu. Ni and Mo contents. The results of the this research, it was found that the smallest change of size was observed, and the good degree of hardness and tensile strength was observed when 1.50wt%Cu, 1.75wt%Ni and 0.50wt%Mo was added each other. The powder metallurgy characteristics of partial diffusion bond prealloyed steel powder containing 1.50wt% of Cu, 1.75wt% of Ni and 0.5wt% of Mo were compared to those of distalloy $AB\textregistered$ which was manufactured in Hogani Corporation of Sweden. Partial diffusion bond prealloyed steel powder of this study had good degree of hardness and density, and its dimensional stability was same to that of pure steel powder. Under the same sintering density and temperature, the tensile strength of the ion powder from this research was $15~20Kg/\textrm{mm}^2$ larger than that of distalloy AB'. also the hardness was larger in the magnitude of Hv20-30. When the powder metallurgy heat-treated, hardness and tensile strength were substantially increased.
The crystal structure of nicotinic acid hydrochloride has been determined by two-dimensional x-ray method. The unit cell is monoclinic with a = 7.21 ${\AA}$, b = 6.69 ${\AA}$, c = 7.54 ${\AA}$, ${\beta}=100^{\circ}$, space group $C{\frac{2}{2}}-P2_1$, and contains two formula units. Weissenberg diagrams have been taken along the a, b and c axes with Cu K${\alpha}$ radiation and the positions of the atoms have been fixed by means of two dimensional Patterson syntheses, a Fourier projection along the b-axis and trial and error method. The bond lengths are: pyridine ring C-C = 1.38, 1.39 ${\AA}$, C-N = 1.34, 1.36 ${\AA}$, carboxyl group $C_4-C_6$ = 1.46 ${\AA}$, $C_6-O_1$ = l.33 ${\AA}$, $C_6-O_2$ = 1.19 ${\AA}$. The ring nitrogen atom may be regarded as forming bifurcated hydrogen bond with an oxygen atom $O_2$ of one neighbouring molecule and with a neighbouring chlorine atom, being linked by forming a hydrogen bond with an other oxygen atom $O_1$ of above mentioned neighbouring molecule, in such a way that chains parallel to the c-axis are formed.
$Sr_2Ru_{1-x}Cu_xO_{4-y}(0.0{\le}x{\le}0.5)$ compounds were prepared using a conventional solid state reaction. Based on the Rietveld refinements of X-ray diffraction results, it is revealed that $Sr_2Ru_{1-x}Cu_xO_{4-y}$ compounds are the single phases with K2NiF4 type tetragonal system in the range of 0=x=0.3, while the mixed phases of$Sr_2RuO_4$ and $Sr_2CuO_3$ in the range of $0.4{\le}x{\le}0.5$. By means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the valence states of Ru and Cu in $Sr_2Ru_{1-x}Cu_xO_{4-y}$, have been confirmed to 4+ and 2+, respectively. The bond length difference between $Ru-O_1 ({\times}4)\;and\;Ru-O_2 ({\times}2)\;in\;RuO_6$ octahedron is gradually decreased with increasing Cu content in $Sr_2Ru_{1-x}Cu_xO_{4-y}$, which results in the lower c/a ratio. So, it might be assured that the variation of local symmetry of $RuO_6$ octahedron is very closely related to the transporting property of $Sr_2Ru_{1-x}Cu_xO_{4-y}$ compounds. The behavior of resistivity discloses that the metallic property in $Sr_2RuO_4$ changes into the semiconducting one in proportion to the Cu content in $Sr_2Ru_{1-x}Cu_xO_{4-y}$.
Mn-M/Al2O3 (M = Cu, Fe, Co, and Ce) catalysts were prepared for simultaneous oxidation of NO, CO, and CH4, and their oxidation activities were compared. The Mn-Cu/ Al2O3 catalyst with the best simultaneous oxidation activity was characterized by XRD, Raman, XPS, and O2-TPD analysis. The result of XRD indicated that Mn and Cu existed as complex oxides in the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst. Raman and XPS results showed that electron transfer between Mn ions and Cu ions occurred during the formation of the Mn-O-Cu bond in the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst. The XPS O 1s and O2-TPD analyses showed that the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst has more adsorbed oxygen species with high mobility than the Mn/Al2O3 catalyst. The high simultaneous oxidation activity of the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst is attributed to these results. Gas-phase NO promotes the oxidation reactions of CO and CH4 in the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst while suppressing the NO oxidation reaction. These results were presumed to be because the oxidized NO was used as an oxidizing agent for CO and CH4. On the other hand, the oxidation reactions of CO and CH4 competed on the Mn-Cu/Al2O3 catalyst, but the effect was not noticeable because the catalyst activation temperature was different.
The complex[Cu(L)I2, 2H2O(1) (L:3,14-Dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetraazatricyclo [14,4,01.18, 07.12]docosane) has been prepared and structurally characterized. The complex (1) crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P1, a=8.400(1)Å, b=8.986(3) Å, c=9.156(1) Å, α=82.42(1)˚, β=73.61(1)˚ λ=81.04(2)˚, Z=1, R for 1926 observed reflections of [F0>40(F0)], measured at 288K, was 0.042. The tetracoordination around Cu atom of complex(1) is square plane and the average bond distance of Cu-N is 2.029 (11) Å. Both six-membered chelate rings adopts a chair conformation and the five-membered ring are gauche with the sec-NH centers having the RRSS configuration.
