LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), that unifies the scale of various environmental impacts, and simulated annealing are applied to optimizing electrolysis of wastewater from PCB (Printed Circuit Board) production. The changes of environmental impact can be quantified with LCA and the total changes of environmental impacts can be expressed as a function of power consumed, Cu recycled, $Cl_2$, NOx and SOx discharged through restriction of feasible reactions. In a single-variate condition, the environmental optimum can be easily obtained through plotting and comparing each environmental impact value. In 8V potentiostatic electrolysis, the lowest environmental impact can be achieved after 90min. To optimize a multi-variate conditional system, simulated annealing can be applied and this can give the quick and near optimum in complex systems, where many input and output materials are involved, through experimentally measured values without a theoretical modeling.
Colorimetric chemosensors are now considered as one of the most effective analytical method used in the environmental monitoring. In this study, 10 new direct dyes were synthesized to be used as colorimetric chemosensor. When metal ions such as $Al^{3+},\;Ca^{2+},\;Cd^{2+},\;Cr^{3+},\;Cu^{2+},\;Fe^{2+},\;Fe^{3+},\;Hg{^2+},\;Li^+,\;Mg^{2+},\;Na^+,\;Ni^{2+},\;Pb^{2+}\;and\;Zn^{2+}$ were added to the solutions of new dyes, the colors of the solutions were changed and can be easily detected by eyes without any expensive equipments. Some metal ions were coordinated to the new direct dyes forming complex. The experimental data and conclusions were rationalized by UV-VIS spectroscopy.

The frequency response analysis of complex impedance spectra using small perturbation ac impedance spectroscopy is an informative method of OLED performance characterization and lifetime analysis. Using simple RC equivalent circuit mode,l macroscopic nonliniear transport properties of semiconductive emission/transport layers can be analyzed and parameterized. We present the bias voltage dependence and aging effect in impedance spectra measured from an ITO/CuPC/TPD/$Alq_3$/LiF/Al OLED device, and discuss possible failure mechanism based on impedance model parameters.
Fibrous adsorbents containing amidoxime group which make chelate complexes with uranyl ions are studied for the recovery of uranium from sea water. Acrylic fibers are used as base Polymer. The adsorption properties of uranium are carried out to examine pH effect, concen-tration dependence, adsorption rate, separation, and chelate complex. The results obtained are as follows; 1. Metal capacity of U (VI) ion is in the range of pH $2\~10.2$. Amidoxime group-containing fiber recover U (VI) ions existed in sea water or waste water in extremely small quantities. 3. Using amidoxime group-containing fiber Cu (II) and U (VI) are separated with each other in dilute nitric acid solution (pH 2.3). 4. U (VI) chelate complexes are conformed by tridendate ligands, which are coordinated with one nitrogen and two oxygens onto amidoxime group-containing fiber.
2-Furancarboxaldehyde-2-pyridinylhydrazone (FPH) and 5-methyl-2-furancarboxaldehyde-2-pyridinylhydrazone (MFPH) were synthesized and used as tridentate ligands of copper (I) bromide for the atom transfer radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and styrene. The polymerization of methyl methacrylate achieved high conversion and yielded polymers with a good control of molecular weight and low polydispersity (PDI=1.33). Higher PDI were observed in the polymerization of styrene. Using 1-phenyl ethylbromide (PEBr) and ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate (EBiB) as model compounds for the polymeric chain ends, the activation rate constants of the new catalytic systems were measured. These results were correlated with the polymerization results and compared with another catalytic system previously reported.
Accurate analysis of fly ash particles is not trivial because of complex nature in physical and chemical properties. SPLITT fractionation (SF) was employed to fractionate the fly ash particles into subpopulations in large quantities. Then the SF-fractions were analyzed by the steric mode of sedimentation field-flow fractionation (Sd/StFFF) for size analysis. The SF-fractions were also analyzed by ICP-OES. The results showed that the fly ash is mainly composed of Fe, Ca, Mg and Mn. No particular trends were observed between the particle size and the concentrations of Fe, Ca, Mg, while Mn, Cu and Zn were in higher concentrations in smaller particles. Sample preparation procedures were established, where the fly ash particles were sieved to remove large contaminants, and then washed with acetone to remove organics on the surface of particles. The sample preparation and analysis methods developed in this study could be applied to other environmental particles.
Rumbling sound is one of the most important interior sound of a passenger cu. The conventional rumbling noise research was focused on the reduction of the A-weighted sound pressure level. However A-weighted sound pressure level can not give the whole story about the rumbling sound of a passenger car. In this paper, we employed sound metric which is the subjective parameter used in psycoacoustics. According to recent research results, the relation between sound metrics and subjective evaluation is very complex and has nonlinear characteristics. In order to estimate this nonlinear relationship, artificial neural network th[ ory has been applied to derivation of sound quality index fur rumbling sound of a passenger car.
Even if transmissions through normal channel between ubiquitous devices and terminal readers are encrypted, any extra sources of information retrieved from encrypting module can be exploited to figure out the key parameters, so called side channel attack. Since side channel attacks are based on statistical methods, making side channel signal weak or complex is the proper solution to prevent the attack. Among many countermeasures, shielding the electromagnetic signal and adding noise to the EM signal were examined by applying different thicknesses of thin films of ferroelectric (BTO) and conductors (copper and gold). As a test vehicle, chip antenna was utilized to see the change in radiation characteristics: return loss and gain. As a result, the ferroelectric BTO showed no recognizable effect on both shielding and adding noise. Cu thin film showed increasing shielding effect with thickness. Nanometer Au exhibited possibility in adding noise by widening of bandwidth and red shifting of resonating frequencies.
Power module is getting attention from electronic industries such as solar cell, battery and electric vehicles. Transient liquid phase (TLP) boding, sintering with Ag and Cu powders and wire bonding are applied to power module packaging. Sintering is a popular process but it has some disadvantages such as high cost, complex procedures and long bonding time. Meanwhile, TLP bonding has lower bonding temperature, cost effectiveness and less porosity. However, it also needs to improve ductility of the intermetallic compounds (IMCs) at the joint. Wire boding is also an important interconnection process between semiconductor chip and metal lead for direct bonded copper (DBC). In this study, TLP bonding using Sn-based solders and wire bonding process for power electronics packaging are described.
The present paper is focused on sorption concentration of silver (I) on some complex-forming ion exchangers in the initial thiocyanate form and subsequent determination of Ag(I) in the phase of anion exchanger AN-25 by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The sorption and kinetic characteristics of the sorbents were investigated. The apparent stability constants of thiocyanate silver complexes in the ion exchanger phase were calculated. The sorption-spectroscopic method is proposed for Ag(I) determination in aqueous solutions. The calibration curve is linear in the concentration range of 10-200 mg/L (sample volume is 10.0 mL) and the detection limit is 2 $\mu$g/mL. The presence of $Na^+,\;K^+,\;Mg^{2+}$ (macrocomponents) as well as of Ni (II), Co (II), Cu (II) do not hinder the determination of silver (I).
