N-Tosyl Calix[4]arene Azacrown Ether, $C_{45}H_{49}NO_6S$

  • The calix[4]arene molecule adopting the 1,3-alternate conformation forms a square cavity, and two pair phenyl rings lying above and below a least-square plane defined by the four bridging methylene groups in the calix[4]arene are widened upwards and downwards, respectively, from central axis, which leads to O1-O4=4.064 and O2-O3=3.864 . Two propyloxy groups are stabilized with all trans conformations, but the rather short azacrown ether chain with two oxygen atoms includes cis/trans conformations with O1-C35=2.906 . Therefore the cavity does not seem to be big enough to form a host-guest complex.

  • Cholesteryl hemisuccinate($C_{31}H_{50}O_4$)의 구조를 X-선 회절법으로 연구하였다. 이 화합물의 결정의 공간군은 $P2_12_12_1$이며, 단위세포내에 결정학적으로 서로 독립적인 4개의 분자들로 구성되어있다. 이들 분자들은 두 개의 분자들이 수소결합으로 결합된 hydrogen-bonded dimer 두쌍을 만들며, 결정내에서 단단히 결합되어있다. 두쌍의 hydrogen bonded dimer들은 각 각 b = 0.0과 b = 0.25 부근에서 head to head 배열을 이루며, c-축에 나란하게 배열되어 있다. 수소결합의 영향으로 결정의 녹는점이 $180^{\circ}C$으로 높다

  • Spinel structured lithium managanese oxide $(LiMn_2O_4)$ powder with well defined facetted morphology was prepared by precipitation-evaporation method. {111}, {110}, and {100} planes are mainly observed in the $LiMn_2O_4$ powder. And powder shape of tetradecahedron and octahedron was observed depending on the calcinations temperature. The observed powder morphology observed seemed to be related to the nonstoichiometry of the oxygen in the $LiMn_2O_4$ spinel structure. Oxygen nonstoichiometry might be responsible for the Jahn-teller effect and structure transition which in turn affects the surface energy of the {111}, {110}, and {100} planes. Powder shape transition from tetradecahedron to octahedron seemed to be related to the surface energy of the {111}, {110}, and {100} planes with oxygen nonstoichiometry.

  • We have studied the effect of sintering temperature and time on the cation ordering and second phase formation in Ba(Mg/sub 1/3/Nb/sub 2/3/)O₃(BMN) microwave ceramics by using transmission electron microscopy. The relationship between the structural-chemical behavior arid microwave dielectric properties has also been investigated. It is revealed that according to the sintering conditions the BMN ceramics show very diverse local ordering behavior, such as the development of domain twinning and "core-shell"-structured grains and the formation of local disordered domains, though having 1 : 2 cation ordering structure basically. The disordered structure is found in Mg-excess region. Such local chemical variation seems to be caused by the formation of BaNb₂O/sub 6/-like second phase in its neigh-boring grain boundary. The microwave dielectric quality factor of the ceramics decreases greatly with the increase of the structural-chemical inhomogeneity and diversity.

  • p-tert-Calix[4]arene, tosylate of 2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethanol, $K_2CO_3$, 그리고 acetonitrile의 혼합물(混合物)로부터 합성(合成)된 상기제목(上記題目)의 화합물(化合物), $C_{52}H_{70}C_{12}O_6$은 비뚫어진 cone 형태(形態)를 띠고 있으며, 분자내(分子內) hydroxy group의 산소원자(酸素原子)들과 dichloride 꼬리부분(部分)의 산소원자(酸素原子)들간의 두 개(個)의 수소결합(水素結合)에 의(依)해 안정(安定)되어 있다.

  • ZnO thin films for Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator(FBAR) were prepared by FTS (Facing Target Sputtering) system. The FTS methode enable to generate high density plasma, and it has a high deposition rate at 1mTorr pressure. Therefore, the ZnO thin films were deposited on $AZO/SiO_2/Si$ substrates with oxygen gas flow rate, and the other sputtering conditions were fixed such as a sputtering current of 0.8A, a substrate temperature at room temperature. AZO bottom electrode were deposited on $SiO_2/Si$ substrate and by Zn:Al(Al:2wt%) metal target. ZnO thin film thickness and the c-axis preferred orientation of ZnO thin film were evaluated by ${\alpha}-step$ and XRD.

Recombinant Expression, Isotope Labeling and Purification of the Vitamin D Receptor Binding Peptide

  • The vitamin D receptor binding peptide, VDRBP, was overexpressed as a fused form with the ubiquitin molecule in Rosetta(DE3)pLysS, a protein production strain of Escherichia coli harboring an induction controller plasmid. The fusion protein was bound to the immobilized metal ions, and the denaturation and renaturation of the fusion protein were performed as a part of the purification procedure. After the elution of the fusion protein, the peptide hormone was released from its fusion partner by using yeast ubiquitin hydrolase (YUH), and subsequently purified by reverse phase chromatography. The purity of the resulting peptide fragment was checked by MALDI-TOF mass and NMR spectroscopy. The final yields of the target peptide were around 5 and 2 mg per liter of LB and minimal media, respectively. The recombinant expression and purification of this peptide will enable structural and functional studies using multidimensional NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.

  • Twenty novel tetramic acid derivatives (E)-3-(1-(alkyloxyamino)ethylidene)-1-alkylpyrrolidine-2,4-diones were synthesized by the reaction of 3-(1-hydroxyethylidene)pyrrolidine-2,4-diones with O-alkyl hydroxylamines. The title compounds were confirmed by IR, $^1H$ NMR, MS and elemental analysis. The structure of compound 6r was further verified by X-ray diffraction crystallography. The bioassays showed that most of the title compounds exhibited noticeable herbicidal and fungicidal activities.

  • Na[Ga(N₃)₄]와 PPh₃의 반응으로부터 이온성 화합물 [Ph₃P(OH)]/sup +/[N₃]/sup -/ (1)이 분리되었다. 화합물1의 구조가 분광학적 방법(¹H-NMR, /sup 13/C{¹H-NMR, IR) 및 X-ray 회절법으로 규명되었다. 화합물1의 결정학 자료 : 사방정계 공간군 P2₁2₁2₁, a = 10.491(4)Å, b=11.603(5)Å, c=13.149(5)Å, Z=4, R(wR₂)=0.0547(0.0978).

Pb계 완화형 강유전체에서의 relaxation 및 freezing거동 (Relaxation and Freezing in Pb-based Relaxer Ferroelectrics)

  • Pb계 완화형 강유전체인 Pb(Mg/sub ⅓/Nb/sub ⅔/O₃계에서 relaxation 현상과 freezing 거동을 살펴보기위해 낮은 전계에서 측정된 물성들과 강전계 하에서 측정된 물성들을 다양한 주파수 범위에서 비교분석하였다. -40∼90℃의 상전이 온도범위에 걸쳐 1 V/mm의 낮은전계에서 측정된 유전특성의 온도의존성을 구하고 유전이력곡선의 기울기로부터 계산된 유전상수의 온도의존성을 관찰하였다. 이상의 결과와 함께 초전 전류의 온도의존성을 검토한 결과 Vogel-Fulcher 관계식에 비교적 잘 일치되었다. 본 연구를 통하여 일정한 경향을 나타내는 freezing 온도를 산출할 수 있었다.
