There was an outbreak of COVID-19 on the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Distinguishing close contacts is the important problem to be addressed. Close contacts mean people who stays with the patients of disease like COVID-19 over a period of time. The passenger position on board can be obtained by indoor positioning technology. The feature of close contacts is similar location with COVID-19 patients. Therefore, this paper proposed the idea of distinguishing close contacts on board based on DBSCAN algorithm.
According to the dramatical changes from individual trip to the family and couple trip in 1990 caused by both economic growth, rising the level of people's income, and change of social structure such as the increasing time due to the fact of automatic system, and social trends to use this time for their leisure time, this trend influences on the cruise. recently, required for accommodating room to family, the cruise decorated with luxurious things becomes the center of public attention. This study should be a foundation works for developing domestic cruise in near future through surveying a floor plan (plan of room and deck), picture of room, characteristic of space, finish material and interior spatial organization factor & characteristic and analyzing them.
From the definition of the cruise ship mission based on the investigation of the customer needs and statistical estimates and to design of the residence area of the cruise ship, in this study a conceptual design of the traditional ship parts (the lower hull) was carried out. for the light weight estimation of the cruise ship, several methods that have been used for commercial ships were evaluated to adapt for the cruise ship, the main particulars of the ship were determined with the light weight estimation and the assumed dead weight. From these main particulars of the ship, the hull form was developed with CFD verification and the general arrangement for the lower hull was achieved. For several loading conditions the intact stability of ship was checked.

Various propulsion systems, applicable for a G/T 47,000 class mid-size cruise ship, are discussed and a comparative study on stern forms and hull resistance characteristics is carried out, in relation to these propulsion systems. Based on shipyard production logs on similar cruise ships, a reference hull form of a single shaft propulsion system with center-skeg, is generated. Then two new stern hull forms are derived by using a hull transform technique: consisting of one stern form using a twin-skeg system and the other using the Azipod system. Using a CFD-based commercial flaw analysis program, WAVIS (WAve and VIScous flaw analysis system for hull form development), various hydrodynamic characteristics, including wave profiles and ship hull resistance, are compared for three hull forms.

We have studied the efficient operation of the radar and the appropriateness of the installation location, when constructing the VTS system. As the Civil-Military Complex Harbour (Kangjeong Port) is completed in 2016, we set the control area within 10 nautical miles centering on Kangjeong Port, and found out and removed the operational radar blind area of VTS system to provide safe navigation information for vessels that navigating this area. Assuming that two international cruise ships entering at the same time, we performed the radar simulation and compared the images by considering the three sites of Kangjeong Port, Miaksan and Seoguipo Port. Simulation results for a single radar installed at Kangjung Port indicate that the blind area was largely affected by two large cruise ships and the surrounding islands. The blind area due to Kogunsan was considerably large when installed in Miaksan, but the blind area due to the influences of Beomseom, Moonseom and Seopseom was negligibly large. It seems that additional radar installation is necessary as a complementary solution to solve this blind area. When two radars were installed at Miaksan and Kangjeong Port, the residual blind area due to the Seopseom was $0.25km^2$ at 0.1~0.33 nautical miles in the southeast direction from Seopseom. In addition, the remaining blind area with two cruise ships mutually influenced was $0.18km^2$, which did not occur with a single cruise ship.
The purpose of this study was to promote the growth and development of South Korea's cruise tourism industry by pointing out current issue and presenting solutions in South Korea's cruise tourism industry. The study analyzed issues such as status, the advantages and disadvantages of cruise tourism industry to Korea, the capacity of cruise ships and port facilities, the immigration procedures for cruise passengers, and presented effective solutions. This study propose 8 futuristic strategies for cruise tourism industry in Korea that include the establishment of mid-and long-term master plan, the expansion of cruise expert wharf, the composition of the foundation for development of domestic cruise companies, simplification of immigration. Moreover, Korea has to strengthen its promotional activities for cruise companies, the expansion of cruise routes and development of linking tourism belt, activation of cruise specialists training program, and development of associated cruise product with China and Japan.
This study examines the cruise course network structure in the Asian regions and the centrality of ports using social network analysis (SNA). For network analysis of Asian cruise courses, a data network of cruise courses was constructed using data on courses of cruise ships operating in Asian ports collected from the reports of the Cruise Lines International Associations. There are 249 nodes or ports of ship companies that provide cruise courses to Asia between from October 2015 to June 2016, and these nodes connect 545 ports. Density analysis based on ports where cruise ship companies operated cruise ships showed that, from October 2015 to June 2016, the density was 0.009, which was lower than the average of global port network density (2006 to 2011) and railroad network density. In addition, was calculated to be, which means that connection with all ports was possible through 2,180 steps. In the analysis of the Asian cruise course network centrality, Singapore ranked first in both out-degree and in-degree in connection centrality, followed by Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh, and Keelung. Singapore also ranked first in the result betweenness centrality analysis, followed by Penang, Dubai, and Hong Kong. From October 2015 to June 2016, the port with the highest Eigenvector centrality was Hong Kong, followed by Ho Chi Minh, Singapore, Shanghai, and Danang. In the case of the domestic ports Incheon, Busan, and Jeju, connection centrality, betweenness centrality, and Eigenvector centrality all ranked lower than their competitor Chinese ports.

The present study considers the prediction of wind-induced heel of cruise ship and its stabilization. Wind load in ocean exerts on the surface of superstructure of cruise ship, which causes the heel moment on the ship. The calculation of wind load starts from choosing wind speed profile, so that the logarithmic wind profile model is applied in this study. Heel moment by wind load is calculated by adopting approximate formulation and applied to the ship motion analysis in time domain. Motion stabilizers, such as stabilizing fin and U-tube tank, are considered to reduce the heel effect as well as excessive roll motion. From this study, it is expected that the present method can be applied to the prediction and stabilization of the heel motion of cruise ships.

In cruise ships, it is inevitable to arrange the cabins near by the noisy areas, such as ventilation fan, HVAC machinery and funnel casing etc. The noise is propagated to the cabins by way of mount, foundation and deck. The transmitted noise to cabin is affected by mount and foundation structure. It is well-known that most of the structure-borne noise can be reduced by the flexible mount. However, when the foundation of machinery is designed inappropriately, it can make noise problems in cabins. In this paper, the effect of foundation on noise reduction is studied through the numerical analysis and mock up test. The dynamic performance of foundation is investigated from the viewpoint of the impedance and noise reduction in cabin.

Recently, the application and installation of the pod propeller to the cruise ship is dramatically increased. It is because pod propulsion system allows a lot of flexibility in design of the internal arrangement of a ship. To reflect this trend, many researches have conducted to use the pod propeller for the roll stabilization of a ship. In the paper, a roll stabilization controller is designed by using fins and pod propellers as the control actuators for cruise ships. Two kinds of control algorithms are adopted for the roll control system; LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator) algorithm and frequency-weighted LQR algorithm. Through the numerical simulation, the effect of the turning rate of the pod propeller on the roll control system is analyzed. Analysis of the simulation results indicated that the turning rate of the pod propellers is one of the important parameters which give the significant effects on the roll stabilization.
