A Comparative Content Analysis on the Journal of International Marketing: A Study of Ten Years (2004-2013)

  • Purpose - This paper aims to investigate topics and trends in international marketing and cross-cultural management by conducting a content analysis of the Journal of International Marketing. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - In this study, one of the leading journals in the field of international marketing, the Journal of International Marketing, was chosen for research. A total of 199 articles were identified from a time span of ten years (2004-2013). SPSS software was used for codification and analysis of the data. Results - This study revealed some of the factors on which cross-cultural management had a strong correlation with international marketing. Of the 199 articles in the Journal of International Marketing, 64 articles related to cross-cultural management. Conclusions - A content analysis of the Journal of International Marketing comparing general articles with articles related to cross-cultural management is unprecedented. This study offers insight into the impact of cross culture on the discipline of international marketing. The findings of this research could be employed as a reference for gaining insight into the trends and influence of cross-cultural management in international marketing.

법문화(legal culture)와 부패인식: 사법서비스에 대한 접근성과 재판의 공정성 효과를 중심으로 (Legal Culture and Corruption: A Cross-National Analysis of Effects of Courts Fairness and Courts Accessibility on Corruption)

  • 본 연구는 법체계(legal system)를 중심으로 국가 간 부패인식수준의 차이를 설명한 선행연구를 비판적으로 검토하고 역사 결정론적 성격을 완화한 법문화(legal culture) 개념에 주목했다. 사법문화를 자국 사법체계에 대한 시민들의 공유된 인식으로 정의하고, 이를 사법서비스에 대한 접근성과 법원(재판)의 공정성에 대한 시민인식으로 포착하여 국가 간 부패수준의 차이를 설명하고자 했다. 78개국을 대상으로 한 교차국가분석을 통해 1) 법원(재판)의 공정성이 부패인식의 국가 간 차이를 일관되고 통계적으로 유의하게 설명하고 있다는 점과 2) 사법서비스에 대한 접근성은 국가 간 부패인식수준의 차이를 설명하지 못한다는 점을 확인했다. 연구결과가 갖는 정책적 함의는 부패방지뿐만 아니라 광의의 사법정의 실현을 위한 개혁의 초점은 법조서비스의 공급측면보다는 법관의 중립성과 독립성을 저해하는 관행과 제도의 개선에 두어야 한다는 점이다. 아울러 사법문화의 요체가 자국 사법시스템에 대한 시민들의 공유된 인식이라고 정의한 바와 같이, 본 연구는 평등하고 공정한 사법절차에 대한 폭넓고 견고한 시민의식이 "공권력의 사적 오·남용인 부패"를 방지하는 필수 불가결의 사법문화임을 주장한다.

'R16 코리아' 대회의 문화콘텐츠적 가치 (Significance of the R16 Korea Contest as Culture Contents)

  • Significance of the R16 Korea Contest as Culture Contents. Known for relentless practice and intense moves, widespread presence on the Internet, strong ethnic elements highlighting Korean physical attributes and collective culture, b-boying occupies a special place in Korea today. News of four consecutive wins in major b-boy contests around the world have changed the common public conception that b-boys are simply a group of problem boys and students in hip-hop clothes intent on showing off their dance moves. B-boying is no longer perceived as a dance that is performed in the shadowy underground but as a dynamic and beautiful art form of physical expression that is part of today's popular culture. This paper examines the significance of R-16 Korea as culture contents and its main event, the World B-boy Masters Championship. It introduces how the contest has developed since 2007 to reach popular influence and gain international recognition. The paper also compares R-16 Korea to the world's four major b-boy contests, Battle Of The Year, UK B-boy Championship, Free Style Session, and Red Bull BC One to see if any distinctions could be found among them and to evaluate the significance of R-16 Korea as cultural content in its rise to one of the world's top 5 major b-boy contests. Finally, this study makes suggestions for b-boying to become more established as part of Korea's culture contents.

중국(中國) 소수민족(少數民族) 문화접변(文化接變) 양상(樣相)의 변화(變化): 회족(回族)과 이족(彝族)의 문화(文化)를 중심으로 (Modality and implication of chinese minority group's cultural change: focused on hui-zu's culture and yi-zu's culture)

  • This study focused on concretely how minority group's attitude accepting han-zu's culture changes. In the past, minority group's culture and han-zu's culture were acculturated spontaneously, not forcibly. But as the people's republic of china was founded and control of chinese government was intensified, control and interference of minority group area became aggressive, and acculturation became compulsory. However, after chinese economic reform, by economic affluence and modernization and urbanization according to economic affluence, acculturation of minority group's culture and han-zu's culture is changing from forced acculturation to spontaneous acculturation. Still there are some areas where mutual friction lasts because of forced acculturation. But except some areas the stream is changing rapidly to spontaneous acculturation. In the text, this study investigated process and present state of acculturation focused on hui-zu that implemented aggressive acceptance of han-zu's culture relatively early. Then this study investigated yi-zu society and cultural change focused on their spontaneous acculturation. In the modern society setting a high value on convenience and personal happiness rather than ideology and value, value of race becomes less attractive to young people of minority group who know modern civilization and convenience of city. In this respect, maybe hui-zu society is future of yi-zu society and minority group society.

Cross-flow filtration에 의한 Bifidobacterium longum의 고농도 배양 (High Cell Density Culture of Bifidobacterium longum by Cross-flow Filtration)

  • Bifidobacterium longum을 고농도 배양하기 위하여 최적 생육 조건을 조사하고 cross-flow filtration으로 생육 저해 대사산물인 lactic acid와 acetic acid를 제거하면서 균체 순환 배양을 사용하였다. 회분 배양에서는 탄소원으로 glucose를 50 g/l 농도로 사용하고 초기 pH 6.5인 경우 생육이 가장 높았다. B. longum을 cross-flow filtration으로 12시간 배양한 결과, 희석속도 $0.31h^{-1}$에서 최대 균체농도에 도달하여 16.4g/l의 건조균체량을 얻었으며 이로써 회분 배양시 보다 약 4배 높은 균체를 생산하였다.

  • 고추 (Capsicum annuum L.)의 일대잡종을 이용하여 모본의 유전자형 및 생태형이 약배양 효율에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 모본의 유전자형에 따라 약배양 효율에 차이를 보였다. 또한 약배양 효율은 모본으로 배 발생률이 낮은 계통보다 높은 계통을 사용한 교배조합에서 높아 약배양 효율에 세포질 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 생태형에 따른 배 발생 효율은 재래종$\times$피망 교배조합에서 배 발생률이 17.8~46.1%로 가장 높았고, 피망$\times$재래종 조합은 5.4~8.5%의 배발생률을 보여 가장 낮았다. 재래종 $\times$남방계, 남방계 $\times$재래종, 남방계 $\times$피망, 피망 $\times$남방계 교배조합의 배 발생률은 10.5~23.1%로 비교적 중간값을 보였다.

Introduction of the European Peep-box and Development of Visual Culture in the 18th Century Japan

  • During the Edo-period [江戶時代 1603-1867], Japan accepted the modern western science and culture while trading with Holland since 1609, and also through the influx of optical instruments in the $18^{th}$ century the culture of viewing pictures began to be developed. Especially, the peep-boxes and their pictures had been imported from China and Holland since the mid 1750s when they were flourished. The peep-box was rapidly and widely spread. Soon after, the peep-boxes and pictures had begun to be produced in Japan (megane [眼鏡] and megane-e [眼鏡繪]) since 1770s when the early visual culture settled down in Kyoto and Tokyo etc. The visual culture developed with the peep-box contains two remarkable factors in the cultural history of the $18^{th}$ century Japan. First, the peep-boxes became the popular device of visual entertainment, and opened the first phase of the modern visual culture before the advent of photography and cinema in the mid and end of the $19^{th}$ century. Secondly, the peep-box played a role of an educative media as a 'window to the unknown world' in the $18^{th}$ century Japan, by showing various pictures of many European cities. Through the peep-box pictures the 'western images' were spread and knowledges of Japanese about the west increased, although they were recognized just as 'Holland's images' without differentiation in each country.
