The computational flow analysis using LES technique was introduced to investigate the flow field improvement of an indoor RAC chassis consisting of a rear-guider, a stabilizer and a cross-flow fan. This unsteady three-dimensional numerical analysis was carried out by the commercial SC/Tetra software. The edge blocks were adopted in this study as a tool for the flow field improvement of an indoor RAC. In view of the results so far achieved, the edge blocks cause the center of an eccentric vortex to be stable along all length of a cross-flow fan, and then, the static pressure and the velocity vector show a stable distributions. In consequence, because the edge blocks eliminate a reverse flow near the edges, an exhausting flow becomes to be stable and uniform.
In order to control vibration in structures, it is desirable to be able to identify dominant paths of vibration transmission from sources through the structure to some points of interest. Structural intensity vector(power flow per width of cross section) using cross spectra is able to measure the vibration power flow at a point in a structure. This paper describes the structural intensity measurement of 2-dimensional structure. Structural intensity of 2-dimensional structure can be obtained from eight point cross spectral measurement per axis, or two point measurement per axis on the assumption of far field. Approximate formulation of the relation between bending waves in structures and structural intensity makes it possible to separate the wave components by which one can get a state of the vibration field. Experimental results are obtained on an infinite plate at the near and far field in flexural vibration. The measurement error of two point measurement is rather bigger than eight point measurement on account of the assumption that Poisson's ratio is 1. The structural intensity vectors on the plate are checked the ability to identify the path of vibration power flow in random excitation and 200Hz sine excitation, the result of two point measurememt is almost the same as the result of eight point measurement in 200Hz sine excitation.

With the aim to maximize the use of a given voltage source in the field of railway and electric vehicles, this study applies a technique for controlling the overmodulation region between the linear and the six-step regions. High linearity overmodulation techniques that do not use look-up table (LUT) to digital signal processor (DSP) using carrier based pulse width modulation (PWM) are proposed. Such technique requires the phase of the voltage vector at the point where the circular trajectory of the voltage command vector and hexagonal cross each other. Therefore, a method is proposed to obtain a phase of a voltage vector that is derived through an equation and applied to a carrier-based PWM. Validity of the proposed implementation method is confirmed through simulation and experiment.

Conventionally it is asummed that the microstrip line conductor has a rectangular cross-section. but the additive and substactive processes used to create conductors for PCBs produce a conductor of approximately Trapezoidal cross-section. For wide Strip line, the thickness and edge effect will be small since most of capacitance is parallel plate rather than fringing and we can ignore the cross-section. For narrow strip lines, the edge effect become immportant. So in this paper, we measure the chracteristic impedance of microstripline by Vector Analyzer and simulate the electromagnetic field of microstripline using finite element method with edge angle.

The relation between the vibration induced from machinery and the radiated sound is complicated. Acoustic intensity method is widely used to obtain the accuracy of noise measurement and noise identification. In this study, as groundwork, the complex acoustic intensity method is performed to identify noise source and transmission path on different free space point source fields. As an industrial application, the complex acoustic intensity method is applied to HVAC to identify sound radiation characteristics in the near field. Experimental complex acoustic intensity method was applied to HVAC, it is possible to identify noise sources in complicated sound field characteristics which noise sources are related with each other, and certificate the validity of complex acoustic intensity. Especially, it can be seen that complex acoustic intensity method using both of active and reactive intensity is vital in devising a strategy for identification of noise. Also, the vector flow of acoustic intensity was investigated to identify sound intensity distributions and energy flow in the near field of HVAC.
A k-dimensional vector bundle is a bundle ${\xi}=(E,P,B,F^k)$ with fibre $F^k$ satisfying the local triviality, where F is the field of real numbers R or complex numbers C ([1], [2] and [3]). Let $Vect_k(X)$ be the set consisting of all isomorphism classes of k-dimensional vector bundles over the topological space X. Then $Vect_F(X)=\{Vect_k(X)\}_{k=0,1,{\cdots}}$ is a semigroup with Whitney sum (${\S}1$). For a pair (X, A) of topological spaces, a difference isomorphism over (X, A) is a vector bundle morphism ([2], [3]) ${\alpha}:{\xi}_0{\rightarrow}{\xi}_1$ such that the restriction ${\alpha}:{\xi}_0{\mid}A{\longrightarrow}{\xi}_1{\mid}A$ is an isomorphism. Let $S_k(X,A)$ be the set of all difference isomorphism classes over (X, A) of k-dimensional vector bundles over X with fibre $F^k$. Then $S_F(X,A)=\{S_k(X,A)\}_{k=0,1,{\cdots}}$, is a semigroup with Whitney Sum (${\S}2$). In this paper, we shall prove a relation between $Vect_F(X)$ and $S_F(X,A)$ under some conditions (Theorem 2, which is the main theorem of this paper). We shall use the following theorem in the paper. THEOREM 1. Let ${\xi}=(E,P,B)$ be a locally trivial bundle with fibre F, where (B, A) is a relative CW-complex. Then all cross sections S of ${\xi}{\mid}A$ prolong to a cross section $S^*$ of ${\xi}$ under either of the following hypothesis: (H1) The space F is (m-1)-connected for each $m{\leq}dim$ B. (H2) There is a relative CW-complex (Y, X) such that $B=Y{\times}I$ and $A=(X{\times}I)$${\cap}(Y{\times}O)$, where I=[0, 1]. (For proof see p.21 [2]).

To estimate RCS(Radar Cross Section) at arbitrary incident angles for large objects, an interpolation method is required based on the pre-calculated RCS database at finite discrete sampling points. It is numerically difficult to compute the RCS by a large object at all required sampling points, since the computation time may be very long for one sampling point and many sampling points are required to satisfy the exact sampling condition. Therefore, it may be required to accurately estimate the RCS at any incident angles based on a database whose size is as small as possible. In this paper, the accuracy of two interpolation methods base on the sinc-and VSH(Vector Spherical Harmonics) functions are numerically compared.

An Analysis of wind is essential for planning runway direction. As a general rule, the principal traffic runway at an airport should be oriented as closely as practicable in the direction of the prevailing wind. Aircraft are able to maneuver on a runway as long as the wind component at right angles to the direction of landing and taking-off, the cross wind component, is not excessive. ICAO recommends that runway be oriented so that aircraft may be landed at least 95% of the time with allowable cross wind components not exceeding specified limits based upon the airport reference field length. Based on the recommendation, the direction of the runway or runways at an airport can be determined through graphical vector analysis on wind rose. This study is to develop the wind-rose software for planning the optimum runway direction at an airport with the raw wind data based on reliable wind distribution statistics that extend over as long as a period as possible, preferably of not less than 5 years.

A process of 3-D particle image velocimetry, called here, as '3-D stereo PIV' was developed for the measurement of a section field of 3-D complex flows. The present method includes modeling of camera by a calibrator based on the homogeneous coordinate system, transfromation of oblique-angled image to transformed image, identification of 2-D velocity vectors by 2-D cross-correlation equation, stereo matching of 2-D velocity vectors of two cameras, accurate calculation of 3-D velocity vectors by homogeneous coordinate system and finally 3-D animation as the post processing. In principle, as two frame images only are necessary for the single instantaneous analysis of a section field of 3-D flow, more effective vectors are obtainable contrary to the previous multi-frame vector algorithm. An experimental system was also used for the application of the proposed method. Three analog CCD cameras and an Argon-Ion Laser(300mW) for illumination were adopted to capture the wake flow behind a bluff obstacle.
Uncertainty introduced by a cross-correlation algorithm based on FFT has been investigated using PIV standard images. The standard images were generated by the Monte Carlo simulation method. Both bias and random errors from the velocity vector have been analyzed with regard to the particle diameter, displacement, and the number of particles. The uncertainty of velocity is evaluated based upon the IS0/IEC standard. As a result, a total error of $0.26\%$ is included in the PIV cross-correlation algorithm. In addition, the uncertainty budget is presented, where the effect of the above three variables is examined. According to the budget, the variation of the number of particles within the interrogation window mainly contributes to the combined standard uncertainty of the real measured velocity field when excluding the effect of errors by the experiments itself. Finally, the expanded uncertainty is found to be about $12\%$ at the $95\%$ confidence level.
