천수 영역에서 저속 운항하는 선박의 조종성능 추정에 관한 연구 (Prediction of Manoeuvrability of a Ship with Low Forward Speed in Shallow Water)

  • In this paper, a mathematical model for a ship manoeuvring with low forward speed in shallow water was suggested. Based on the cross flow model with low forward speed in deep sea, hull, propeller and rudder models were modified to consider the shallow water effects. Static drift and PMM tests were performed to obtain the cross flow drag coefficients and hydrodynamic coefficients. To validate suggested mathematical model, numerical simulation results were compared with those of sea-trials. Through comparisons, it was concluded that suggested mathematical model could give proper estimation on turning test results.

  • Much effort has been made in the radiometric calibration of the ocean scanning multispectral imager (OSMI) since after the successful launch of KOMPSAT-1 in 1999. A series of calibration coefficients for OSMI detectors were obtained in collaboration with the NASA Sensor Intercomparison and Merger for Biological and Interdisciplinary (SIMBIOS) project office. In this study, we compare the OSMI level-2 products (e.g., chlorophyll-a concentration) calculated from the NASA cross-calibration coefficients with the SeaWiFS counterparts. Sample study areas are some of diagonostic data sites recommended by the SIMBIOS working group. We will present the preliminary results of this comparative study.

  • We measured the electron transport coefficients, the electron drift velocity W and the longitudinal diffusion coefficient $D_{L}$ in the 0.526% and 5.05% $C_{3}F_{8}$-Ar mixtures over the E/N range from 0.01 Td to 100 Td by the double shutter drift tube, and compared the measured results by Hunter et al. with those. We determined the inelastic collision cross sections for the $C_{3}F_{8}$ molecule by the comparison of the present measurements and the calculation of electron transport coefficients in the $C_{3}F_{8}$-Ar mixtures by using a multi-term Boltzmann equation analysis.

Results of this study show that the OSMl-derived chlorophyll-a concentration agrees well with the SeaWiFS counterpart in Case 1 water; however, differences become larger in Case 2 water.

  • In this paper, we describe the results of a combined experimental theoretical study designed to understand and predict the dielectric properties of SF$_{6}$ and SF$_{6}$+Ar mixtures. The electron transport, ionization, and attachment coefficients for pure SF$_{6}$ and gas mixtures containing SF$_{6}$ has been analysed over the E/N range 30~300[Td] by a two term Boltzmann equation and by a Monte Carlo Simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors, experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2[%] and 0.5[%] SF$_{6}$+Ar mixtures were measured by time- of- flight method, The results show that the deduced electron drift velocities, the electron ionization or attachment coefficients, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients and mean energy agree reasonably well with the experimental and theoretical for a rang of E/N values. Electron energy distribution functions computed from numerical solutions of the electron transport and reaction coefficients as functions of E/N. We have calculated $\alpha$,η and $\alpha$-η the ionization, attachment coefficients, effective ionization coefficients, and (E/N), the limiting breakdown electric-field to gas density ratio, in SF$_{6}$ and SF$_{6}$+Ar mixtures by numerically solving the Boltzmann equation for the electron energy distribution.   • In this paper, the behavior of electron swarm parameters and energy distribution function of the discharge under high E/N condition in e$^{-10}$ -CF$_{4}$ gas have been analysed over the E/N range from 1-300(Td) by the MCS and BEq methods using set of electron collision cross section determined by the authors. The swarm parameters and energy distribution function have been calculated for the pulsed Townsend, steady-state Townsend and Time of Flight methods. The results gained that the value of electron swarm parameters such as the electron drift velocity, the electron ionization and attachment coefficients and longitudinal diffusion coefficients in agreement with the experimental and theoretical data for a range of E/N. The electron energy distribution function has been explained and analysed in e$^{-10}$ -CF$_{4}$ at E/N : 5, 10, 100, 200, 300(Td) for a case of the equilibrium region in the mean electron energy and respective set of electron collision cross sections. The validity of the results has been confirmed by TOF and SST methods.

시뮬레이션에 의한 CH4 기체의 전리 및 확산계수 (Ionization and Diffusion Coefficients in CH4 Gas by Simulation)

  • This paper describes the information for quantitative simulation of weakly ionized plasma. We must grasp the meaning of the plasma state condition to utilize engineering application and to understand materials of plasma state. Using quantitative simulations of weakly ionized plasma, we can analyze gas characteristic. In this paper, the electron Ionization and diffusion Coefficients in $CH_4$ has been analysed over the E/N range 0.1~300[Td], at the 300[$^{\circ}K$] by the two term approximation Boltzmann equation method and Monte Carlo Simulation. Boltzmann equation method has also been used to predict swarm parameter using the same cross sections as input. The behavior of electron has been calculated to give swarm parameter for the electron energy distribution function has been analysed in $CH_4$ at E/N=10, 100 for a case of the equilibrium region in the mean energy. A set of electron collision cross section has been assembled and used in Monte Carlo simulation to predict values of swarm parameters. The result of Boltzmann equation and Monte Carlo Simulation has been compared with experimental data by Ohmori, Lucas and Carter. The swarm parameter from the swarm study are expected to sever as a critical test of current theories of low energy scattering by atoms and molecules.

  • In this dissertation the results of the combined experimental and theoretical studies designed to understand and predict the spatial growth and transport coefficients for electrons in SF$_{6}$ and SF$_{6}$-Ar mixtures have described. The ionization and attachment coefficients in pure SF$_{6}$ and SF$_{6}$-Ar mixtures have been calculated over the range of 10$_{6}$ molecule and for Ar atom proposed by other authors. The transport coefficients for electrons in (0.2%)SF$_{6}$-Ar and (0.5%)SF$_{6}$-Ar mixtures were measured by time-of-flight method, and the electron energy distribution function and the parameters of the velocity and the diffusion were determined by the variation of the collision cross-sections with energy. The results obtained in this work will provide valuable information on the fundamental haviors of electrons in weakly ionized gases and the role of electron attachment in the choice of better gases and unitary gas dielectrics or electro negative components in dielectric gas mixtures. gas mixtures.

Effect of internal angles between limbs of cross plan shaped tall building under wind load

  • The present study revealed comparison the pressure distribution on the surfaces of regular cross plan shaped building with angular cross plan shaped building which is being transformed from basic cross plan shaped building through the variation of internal angles between limbs by $15^{\circ}$ for various wind incidence angle from $0^{\circ}$ to $180^{\circ}$ at an interval of $30^{\circ}$. In order to maintain the area same the limbs sizes are slightly increased accordingly. Numerical analysis has been carried out to generate similar nature of flow condition as per IS: 875 (Part -III):1987 (a mean wind velocity of 10 m/s) by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with help of ANSYS CFX ($k-{\varepsilon}$ model). The variation of mean pressure coefficients, pressure distribution over the surface, flow pattern and force coefficient are evaluated for each cases and represented graphically to understand extent of nonconformities due to such angular modifications in plan. Finally regular cross shaped building results are compared with wind tunnel results obtained from similar '+' shaped building study with similar flow condition. Reduction in along wind force coefficients for angular crossed shaped building, observed for various skew angles leads to develop lesser along wind force on building compared to regular crossed shaped building and square plan shaped building. Interference effect within the internal faces are observed in particular faces of building for both cases, considerably. Significant deviation is noticed in wind induced responses for angular cross building compared to regular cross shaped building for different direction wind flow.

CFD practical application in conceptual design of a 425 m cable-stayed bridge

  • CFD techniques try to find their way in the bridge engineering realm nowadays. However, there are certain fields where they offer superior performance such as conceptual bridge design and bidding design. The CFD studies carried out for the conceptual design of a 425 m length cable-stayed bridge are presented. A CFD commercial package has been employed to obtain for a set of cross-sections the aerodynamic coefficients considering 2D steady state. Additionally, for those cross-sections which showed adequate force coefficients, unsteady 2D simulations were carried out to detect the risk of vortex shedding. Based upon these computations the effect on the aerodynamic behavior of the deck cross-section caused by a number of modifications has been evaluated. As a consequence, a new more feasible cross-section design has been proposed. Nevertheless, if the design process proceeds to a more detailed step a comprehensive set of studies, comprising extensive wind tunnel tests, are required to better find out the aerodynamic bridge behavior.
