Mungbean(Vigna radiata (L.) R. Wilczek) is one of legume cultivated in south and east Asia. It well cultivated in high temperature and drought condition. In order to establish pure line for genomic studies, the agronomical characteristics of Korean mungbean landraces were evaluated. A total of 324 acessions derived from National Agrobiodiversity Center were selfed two times in 2021 nersery. Tree times of selfed from 324 accessions were characterized. The color of seed coat was divided into three groups: green, yellow and brown. Among them green color was the most common with 91.7%. Flower colors were divided into four groups: yellow, purplish yellow, greenish yellow and purplish green. Among them purplish yellow color had the highest with 77.8%. Out of 324 resources, only 4 showed compound leaves, and all resources had a heart-shaped leaf. The days to first flowering was 31 to 78 days. About 63% of the accessions bloomed 35 to 50 days after sowing. 324 Korean landraces are expected to be used as a population of the Korean mungbean core collection and serve as a basis for genomic breeding materials for mungbean.
This experiment was carried out to study the root and the other major agronomic traits of barley cultivars at the greenhouse and natural conditions for the accelerating of breeding generation. The barley cultivars tested in this experiment were Kangbori, Olbori and Suwon 18. In early stages, total dry weight of barley was vigorously increased at the greenhouse condition, whereas it was less increased than that of natural condition after heading stages. In dry root weight, it was decreased at natural condition rather than greenhouse condition. The appearance of harvest dry root weight was at four weeks after heading at natural condition and seven weeks after heading at greenhouse condition, respectively. It showed different tendency in T/R ratio, indicating the continuous increased at natural and greenhouse condition, even if there is more or less decrease until tillering stage at greenhouse condition.

This study carried out to induce plant regeneration and callus formation from leaflet in MS medium with 2.4-D, NAL and IAA for in vitro growth of tuber, Kinetin and BA were used for plant regeneration. $NH_4NO_3$ and $KNO_3$ as a nitrogen source and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$, as a sulfate source were tested for in vitro growth of tuber. The resutls ars as fellows : 1. For the callus formation from leaflet and differentiation potency of organ, 2.4-D was more effective than IAA in MS medium under $26^{\circ}C$ and light condition of 8 hours a day. 2. For the plant regeneration from callus, MS medium with $2.0\;mg/{\ell}$ BA was most effective under $26^{\circ}C$ and light condition of $16{\sim}24$ hours a day. 3. For the in vitro growth of tuber, $KNO_3$ by $3.0g/{\ell}$ in MS medium was effective. This condition enhanced the growth of tuber 2.5 times compared with that in MS medium with $2.0\;mg/{\ell}$ BA.
Successful germination and establishment of seedlings in flooded paddy are critical in direct seeding cultivation of rice. In this study, we examined the relationship between antioxidant enzymes and alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activities and coleoptile elongation under submergence of deep water with two rice cultivars, Iksan429 and Woodrose, which show characteristic coleoptile elongation under hypoxic condition. The growth of shoot under submerged in water was faster than the root. The survival duration was longer in Iksan429 than in Woodrose under submerged in water. The alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activities were significantly increased under hypoxia compared to in aerated condition. The ADH activity was increased in Iksan429 more than in Woodrose under hypoxia. The superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in Iksan429 was gradually increased up to 5 days after treatment (DAT) then decreased slowly till 14 DAT under water, whereas in Woodrose it was dramatically decreased after 5 DAT. The peroxidase (POX) activity in Iksan429 was significantly increased until 7 DAT under hypoxia, whereas it was not significantly different in Woodrose during hypoxic treatment. However, in non-treated condition, POX activity in Woodrose was increased more than Iksan429. The changes of catalase (CAT) activities showed no differences in both cultivars. We suggest that the overexpression of ADH, SOD and POX activities is responsible for the hypoxic tolerance and plays an important role in the surviving of rice seedling.

An object oriented crop model was developed to perform crop growth simulation taking into account complex interaction between biotic and abiotic factors in an agricultural ecosystem. A set of classes including Atmosphere class, Plant class, Soil class, and Grower class were designed to represent weather, crop, soil, and crop management, respectively. Objects, which are instance of class, were linked to construct an integrated system for crop growth simulation. In a case study, yield of corn and soybean, which was obtained at an experiment farm in Rural Development Administration from 1984 to 1986, were compared with yield simulated using the integrated system. The integrated system had relatively low error rate of corn yield, e.g., <4%, under sole and intercropping conditions. In contrast, the system had a relatively large underestimation error for above ground biomass except for grain compared with those observed for corn and soybean. For example, estimates of biomass of corn leaf and stem was 31% lower than those of observed values. Although the integrated system consisted of simple models, the system was capable of simulating crop yield under an intercropping condition. This result suggested that an existing process-based model would be used to have more realistic simulation of crop growth once it is reengineered to be compatible to the integration system, which merits further studies for crop model improvement and implementation in object oriented paradigm.

Over the past 100 years, the global average temperature has risen by 0.75 ℃. The Korean Peninsula has risen by 1.8 ℃, more than twice the global average. According to the RCP 8.5 scenario, the CO2 concentration in 2100 will be 940 ppm, about twice as high as current. The National Institute of Crop Science(NICS) is using the SPAR (Soil-Plant Atmosphere Research) facility that can precisely control the environment, such as temperature, humidity, and CO2. A Python-based colony photosynthesis algorithm has been developed, and the carbon and nitrogen absorption rate of rice is evaluated by setting climate change conditions. In this experiment, Oryza Sativa cv. Shindongjin were planted at the SPAR facility on June 10 and cultivated according to the standard cultivation method. The temperature and CO2 settings are high temperature and high CO2 (current temperature+4.7℃ temperature+4.7℃·CO2 800ppm), high temperature single condition (current temperature+4.7℃·CO2 400ppm) according to the RCP8.5 scenario, Current climate is set as (current temperature·CO2400ppm). For colony photosynthesis measurement, a LI-820 CO2 sensor was installed in each chamber for setting the CO2 concentration and for measuring photosynthesis, respectively. The colony photosynthetic rate in the booting stage was greatest in a high temperature and CO2 environment, and the higher the nitrogen fertilization level, the higher the colony photosynthetic rate tends to be. The amount of photosynthesis tended to decrease under high temperature. In the high temperature and high CO2 environment, seed yields, the number of an ear, and 1000 seed weights tended to decrease compared to the current climate. The number of an ear also decreased under the high temperature. But yield tended to increase a little bit under the high temperature and high CO2 condition than under the high temperature. In addition, In addition to this study, it seems necessary to comprehensively consider the relationship between colony photosynthetic ability, metabolite reaction, and rice yield according to climate change.
Although the need of crop production has increased in Mongolia, crop cultivation is very limited because of the harsh climatic and topographic conditions. Crop lands are sparsely distributed with relatively small sizes and, therefore, it is difficult to survey the exact area of crop lands. The study aimed to find an easy and effective way of accurate classification to map crop lands in Mongolia using satellite images. To classify the crop lands over the study area in northern Mongolia, four classifications were carried out by using 1) Thematic Mapper (TM) image August 23, 2) TM image of July 6, 3) combined 12 bands of TM images of July and August, and 4) both TM images of July and August by layered classification. Wheat and potato are the major crop types and they show relatively high variation in crop conditions between July and August. On the other hands, other land cover types (forest, riparian vegetation, grassland, water and bare soil) do not show such difference between July and August. The results of four classifications clearly show that the use of multi-temporal images is essential to accurately classify the crop lands. The layered classification method, in which each class is separated by a subset of TM images, shows the highest classification accuracy (93.7%) of the crop lands. The classification accuracies are lower when we use only a single TM image of either July or August. Because of the different planting practice of potato and the growth condition of wheat, the spectral characteristics of potato and wheat cannot be fully separated from other cover types with TM image of either July or August. Further refinements on the spatial characteristics of existing crop lands may enhance the crop mapping method in Mongolia.

The origin of wild corn (teosinte) is distributed in the Northwest coastal pacific area of Central America, including Mexico, which is a wetland area of 5 to 6 months per year. Depending on these climate characteristics, wild corn is genetically resistant to flooding condition. In order to evaluate the availability of flooding resistant genes of these wild corns, we examined the physiological responses after the flooding treatment in the early stages of the growth of various wild corns. The difference of chlorophyll content between flooding untreatment and flooding treatments (untreated chlorophyll content - humidified chlorophyll content) was the highest in chlorophyll content in the case of B73, the common corn. In the middle leaf, $\underline{Zea}$ mays subsp. Parviglumis, Zea mays subsp. Mexicana, Zea mays subsp., Zea perennis decreased significantly. In the lower leaves, Zea mays sub and Zea nicaraguensis showed the lowest content compared to B73. PCR analysis was performed using 34 primers divided into two groups, top and bottom. In the wild corn, pyruvate decarboxylase 2 in root and alcohol dehydrogenase 1 in shoot showed the difference in the reaction.

This experiment was conducted to examine the seed structure and to investigate the changes of seed vigor and germinability according to storage condition of Astragalus membranaceus. In case of the hard seed, there observed a gap between a testa and an embryo with abnormal shapes of an hilum and its micropyle. Seeds stored at room temperature maintained vitality for 4 months but continued to lose its vitality, while increase the hand seeds ratio as storing time longer. The content of Ca increased in proportion to the length of storing time.
Due to changes in the agricultural market environment and both overseas and domestic farming conditions, uncertainties in agricultural production and management are becoming greater. Hence, there is a stronger need for farmers to choose crops in the optimal condition. This research aims to introduce the result and process of developing a decision support system for selecting crops, aimed to assist farmers in selecting the optimal crops most suitable in the given situation. There are basically three main factors to consider in the decision-making process for farmers when selecting a crop to introduce to their lands. First of all, one must consider how much profit crop A will produce when it is cultivated. Secondly, one must consider which crop to cultivate in order to earn a certain amount of profit. Thirdly, one must consider what is the best way to maximize Farm A's business profit. For instance, a farm may have land as its resource, and one must research which location, type of crop, level of technology, and so forth, to maximize profit. This research creates a database of the profitability of a total of 180 crop types by analyzing Rural Development Administration's survey of agricultural products income of 115 crop types, small land profitability index survey of 53 crop types, and Statistics Korea's survey of production costs of 12 crop types. Furthermore, this research presents the result and developmental process of a web-based crop introduction decision support system that provides overseas cases of new crop introduction support programs, as well as databases of outstanding business success cases of each crop type researched by agricultural institutions.
