Workflow Oriented Domain Analysis (워크플로우 지향 도메인 분석)

  • In this paper we will propose a domain analysis methodology that uses an extended workflow mechanism based on dynamic modeling to solve problems of a traditional domain analysis on legacy systems. This methodology is called WODA(Workflow Oriented Domain Analysis). Following procedures on WODA, we can identify common/uncommon component, and also extract the cluster of components. It will be effectively reusable on developing new systems with these components. With our proposed component testing metrics, we can determine highly reusable component/scenario on identifying possible scenarios of the particular system. We can also recognize most critical/most frequent reusable components and prioritize possible component scenarios of the system. This paper contains one application of UPS that illustrates our autonomous modeling tool, WODA.

  • In this paper, we propose a steering concept that considers overall aspects in the CBSD (Component-Based Software Development) environments. While many researches which are concentrated on using components, market promotion and component development itself seem to be insufficient. To overcome this problem, we introduce a brokerage concept called“Value-Added Brokerage Concept”that provides the following three services:1) domain architecture-based component promotion, 2) intelligent component search, and 3) white-box service. Domain architecture-based component promotion facilitates balancing component production and promoting architecture-level large scale reuse. Intelligent component search enables to overcome the long time search and selection problem. Finally, white-box service is for solving maintenance problems, which is one of the most critical problem in the CBSD environments. Especially, we expect this proposed concept would be well adapted to our national environments.

  • Induction motors are a critical component of industrial processes. Sudden failures of such machines can cause the heavy economical losses and the deterioration of system reliability. Based on the reliability and cost competitiveness of driving system (motors), the faults detection and the diagnosis of system are considered very important factors. In order to perform the faults detection and diagnosis of motors, the vibration monitoring method and motor current signature analysis (MCSA) method are emphasized. In this paper, MCSA method is used for induction motor fault diagnosis. This method analyses the motor's supply current. since this diagnoses faults of the motor. The diagnostic algorithm is based on the principal component analysis(PCA), and the diagnosis system is programmed by using LabVIEW and MATLAB.

  • This paper offers a critical review of a newspaper argument regarding the problems of high school education assessment for university entrance examination system in the United Kingdom. The media account raises three sets of questioning to hold that the nation's long-standing A-levels have failed and is no longer viable as a high-stakes test. However, it is found that the writer's argumentations involving misleading conceptions can be deconstructed because of invalid reasoning and unreliable evidence. So, it is proposed that a reasonable solution to replace the discredited A-level exams should be to adopt an eclectic approach for assessing candidates' multiple capabilities; performance, potentiality and critical thinking skills. These criteria for component-oriented assessments are designed to measure their high school academic achievements and intellectual capacity for tertiary education; in the process of such measurement, critical-logical reasoning abilities for sound judgment and problem-solving tasks should be incorporated with the basic precondition that each university possesses its own discretion for the determination of adequate proportions to reflect each of the assessment outcomes. It is, therefore, expected that this critical review will inspire the readers to understand aspects of assessment as an educational field and to confirm how seriously they may be misguided by a distorted media argumentation without substantive background knowledge.

  • In this paper we study the modeling to quantitatively assess the failure rate of USN system designed for fault-tolerant architecture, aiming at applying the world's best domestic USN technology to safety-critical railways. In order to apply the USN system to the safety-critical field like a train control sector that the failures of controllers may cause severe railway accidents such as train collision and derailment, the quantitative reliability and safety evaluation recommended in IEC 62278 must be preceded. We also develop the evaluation model for overall system failure rate for the distributed network structure, which is the characteristics of USN system. Especially, we allocate reliability targets to component units, and present an availability evaluation plan through the plan on the quantitative achievement of failure rate for sensor nodes, gateways, radio-communication network and servers, along with the failure rate model of the overall system considering network operational features.

  • Safety critical systems are those in which a failure can have serious and irreversible consequences. Nowadays digital technology has been rapidly applied to critical system such as railways, airplanes, nuclear power plants, and vehicles. The main difference between analog system and digital system is that the software is the key component of the digital system. The digital system performs more varying and highly complex functions efficiently compared to the existing analog system because software can be flexibly designed and implemented. The flexible design make it difficult to predict the software failures. This paper reviews safety standard and criteria for safety critical system such as railway system and suggests development methodology, ordering management and assessment process for railway software with more detail description.

  • This paper introduces the software life-cycle V&V (verification and validation) tasks for the KNICS (Korea nuclear instrumentation and control system) project. The objectives of the V&V tasks are mainly to develop a programmable logic controller (PLC) for safety critical instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, and then to apply the PLC to developing the prototype of an engineered safety features-component control system (ESF-CCS) in nuclear power plants. As preparative works for the software V&V, various kinds of software plans and V&V task procedures have been developed according to the software life-cycle management. A number of software V&V tools have been adopted or developed to efficiently support the V&V tasks. The V&V techniques employed in this work include a checklist-based review and inspection, a requirement traceability analysis, formal verification, and life-cycle based software testing.
