  • In the recent design of high ductile engineered cementitious composites (ECC), optimizing both processing and mechanical properties for specific applications is critical. This study employs a method to develop useful ECC produced with slag particles (slag-ECC) in the field, which possesses different fluid properties to facilitate diverse types of processing (i.e., self-consolidating or spray processing). Control of rheological modulation was regarded as a key factor to allow the performance of the desired processing while retaining the ductile material properties. To control the rheological properties of the composite, the basic slag-ECC composition was initially obtained, determined based on micromechanics and steady-state cracking theory. The stability and consequent viscosity of the suspensions were then mediated by optimizing the dosage of the chemical and mineral admixtures. The rheological properties altered through this approach were revealed to be effective in obtaining ECC-hardened properties, represented by pseudo strain-hardening behavior in uniaxial tension, allowing the readily achievement of the desired function of the fresh ECC.

  • The core of the neoclassical growth theory is the capital investment. Solow proposed that the diminishing return is key to such growth process in establishing the stability of the equilibrium growth path. This key postulation has critical implications on the sustainable and effective development policies, emphasizing the importance of productivity growth not only for the steady-state growth but also for the transitional growth from capital accumulation. This paper suggests a novel way to test the diminishing return, the backbone assumption of Solow model, and confirms its strong presence using the Penn World Tables version 8.0 data, hence validates Solow's implications on effective development policies.

  • For a commonly used piezocone with a shoulder filter element, dilatory dissipation behavior, which shows an initial temporary increase in pore pressure, has been observed in overconsolidated cohesive soils. However, there is no appropriate way to estimate a consolidation parameter from a dilatory dissipation curve because currently available interpretation methods were developed based on the monotonic decrease of the excess pore pressure. In this study, the interpretation method for evaluation of coefficient of consolidation from a dilatory dissipation result of piezocone test was developed by performing the finite difference analysis on the dissipation after cone penetration. The distribution of the initial excess pore pressure induced by cone penetration, which is the core of the analysis, was estimated from the empirical modification of a solution proposed by cavity expansion theory and critical state concept. And the proposed interpretation method was applied to the field piezocone data and the results were compared to those obtained from laboratory tests. Its reliability was confirmed by the insignificant difference between the values of coefficient of consolidation from piezocone tests and laboratory consolidation tests.

  • Due to the constantly varying sea-state with which any wave energy conversion device must contend in order to extract energy efficiently , the ability to control the device's position relative to the incident waves is critical in achieving the creation of a truly functional and economical wave energy device. In this paper, the authors will propose methodology based on the theory of a variable structure system to utilize a three dimensional source distribution as a model to estimate anticipated surge, sway and yaw of a wave energy conversion device relative to varying angles and characteristics of incident waves and there from derive a feedback to a sliding mode controller which would reposition the device so as to maximize its ability to extract energy from waves in constantly varying ocean conditions.

  • In this study, the behaviour of an unsaturated soil was analyzed by performing $K_0$ consolidated triaxial tests. Unsaturated triaxial tests were performed with matric suctions for weathered soils and stress paths under consolidation and stress-strain relationships under shear were obtained. As a result, the $K_0$ value decreased as the matric suction increased. Besides, both isotropic and $K_0$ conditions had similar shear strength envelopes at the same matric suction. Especially, strength parameters could be obtained by stress variables used in the critical state theory more reasonably than by those of Mohr circles at failure.

  • Past nears many Studies have been described for present state and forecasted for the future phenomena in various areas. Many theories and methodologies in transportation have been developed and applied by researchers and planners. On the other hand, many theories and methodologies had disappeared caused by their critical limitations. One of this cause that was discovered of the Chaos in traffic flows. The occurrence of Chaos in traffic flows has affected to the traffic volume and decreased significancy of a simulation result of a specific traffic flow. According to this fact, long-term forecast of traffic flow is difficult, moreover a butterfly effect impedes development and establishment of transportation model. A methodology to solve Chaos character in traffic flow can be able to provide more effective transport planning. This study tackles to enhance and revise the existing theories for the traffic flow applying Chaos theory to estimating travel time.

  • Mobile games have become one of the most important driving forces of the game industry. We focus on the continuous intention to use Chinese mobile games from the perspective of experiential marketing and network externalities. We integrate user experience, network externalities and flow theory into expectation confirmation model and explore the influencing factors of continuous usage intention of Chinese mobile game and propose a research model. Game experience, service experience, perceived enjoyment, social interaction, challenge, perceived number of users and perceived number of peers were employed as independent variables, while flow, perceived value and satisfaction as mediating variables and continuous intention as the dependent variable. After surveying 426 samples, the model is tested with structural equation model. The results reveal that perceived enjoyment significantly positively influences perceived value, flow, satisfaction, and continuous intention. The greater the enjoyment of the game, the greater the satisfaction of the game and the greater the willingness to use it continuously. Game experience has a significant direct effect on continuous intention, which indicates that a better game experience can retain more users. Service experience and perceive number of peers positively influence satisfaction. Another finding is that social interaction and perceived number of users positively influence perceived value and flow, which indicate that social attributes are critical roles for retaining users. Game challenge also positively influences flow. The proper level of challenge is more likely to cause users to enter the state of flow. Flow indirectly influences continuous usage intention through the satisfaction of the game, which indicates that satisfaction is driven by flow experience and further retaining users. Empirical results implied that mobile game companies need to focus on improving user experience, expectation satisfaction and extending network externalities to improve the continuous intention of using mobile game.

  • The conspiracy theories of political events are occurring in every country and society. In Korean society, conspiracy theories about political events are constantly happening. Conspiracy refers to the phenomenon of a particular individual or group who oppose the official causes of social phenomena. Conspiracy is a resistance to the credibility of the state and the government. In Korean society, conspiracy occurs mainly in political events. The conspiracy theories of political events appear in the form of conservatism and progressivism, which seeks to replace political power and political power to stabilize political power. The conspiracy theory about Jang Jun-Ha's death occurred in the process of seeking justification for a person who is resisting the ruling forces. Also, the conspiracy theory of the Gwangju Democratization Movement and the Cheonan Warship Sinking may be a drag on the justification for the justification for the takeover of the new military government and the justification for the Disconnection of inter-Korean relations. In Korean politics, Conspiracy theory is a factor that confuses Korean society regardless of whether it is true or not.

  • 'Coarse grained material' refers to crushed stones or gravels, and the behaviour of soil containing coarse grained material is not easily defined using the conventional soil mechanics theory due to the influences of large particles, therefore large scale test is essential to investigate their effects. Previous studies have identified the major factors affecting the properties of coarse grained materials by using large scale shear testing apparatus, such as maximum particle size, water content, density and uniformity coefficients. In this paper, the effect of variation of maximum particle size and water content on shear strength was analyzed from the results of large scale shear test. In addition, the fiction coefficient at critical state per vertical load was estimated using the equation proposed by Wood (1998). The sample for the test was obtained from the local quarry sites. Tests results show that the shear strength for 50.8 m maximum particle size is relatively larger than that of 76.3 m and air-dry sample has larger shear strength than saturated sample. In the meantime, the friction coefficient at critical state shows $1.0\sim1.6$ according to the test conditions.

  • A series of laboratory tests for the marine clay sampled under the sea of Kwangyang bay have been conducted. The main types of tests are the general index property tests, the oedometer tests and the triaxial compression tests in both undrained(CIU) and drained(CID) conditions. The clayey samples, classified as CL, CH with natural water content of 38.3~84.6% and liquidity index of 0.71~0.98, are in the normally consolidated state with O.C.R. of 1.0l~l.60. The undrained stress path from CIU tests can be normalized with isotropic consolidation pressure$(p_0)$ and equal shear strain contour is linear passing through the origin in the (q, p) plot. The undrained shear strain is found to be the only function of the stress ratio($\eta$) and linear with intercept in the ($\varepsilon/\eta,\eta$) plot. The built-up pore pressure normalized with pc is also linear with respect to $\eta$. and its slope is defined by ´C´ as a pore pressure parameter. Equations to predict the undrained stress path and the shear strain are proposed. It is proved that the proposed equations give better agreements to the measured values than the Cam-clay theories. The failure points of the stress path are located on the same C.S.L. in (q, p) plot during both CIU and CID tests, which justifies the concept of critical state theory.
