  • Currently, Korean real estate market has experienced cooling down of the business because of the global economic crisis which resulted from the subprime mortgage lending practice. In response, the Korean government has enforced various policies at the base of deregulating real estate speculation, such as increasing Loan to value ratio (LTV) in order to stimulate housing demand and supply. However, these policies seemed to result in deep confusion in the Korean housing market. Furthermore, analysis for housing market forecasting, especially international financial crisis on Korean real estate market, has been partial and fragmentary, therefore comprehensive solution and systematical approach is required to analyze the real estate and real estate financial market including causal nexus between market determining factors. In an integrated point of view, applying the system dynamics modeling, the paper aims at proposing Korean Real Estate and Mortgage market dynamics models based on fundamental principles of housing market determined by supply and demand. We also find the impact of deregulation policies focusing on mortgage loan which is the main factors of policies.

Hypertensive crisis following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in adolescents: two case reports

  • In response to the global coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, vaccines were developed and approved quickly. However, numerous cardiovascular adverse events have been reported. We present two adolescent cases who developed a hypertensive crisis following NT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccination. Patient 1 was an 18-year-old male and his systolic blood pressure was 230 mmHg one day after the second vaccine. He was obese. No secondary cause of hypertension other than the vaccine was identified. Patient 2 was an 18-year-old male who complained with palpitation after the first vaccine. His blood pressure was 178/109 mmHg. He had autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. Both were treated with continuous infusion of labetalol followed by losartan, and blood pressure was controlled. Patient 2 received second vaccination and his blood pressure did not rise. It is warranted to measure blood pressure in adolescents at high risk of hypertension after NT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccination.

Mitigating the Shocks: Exploring the Role of Economic Structure in the Regional Employment Resilience

  • This study investigates the resilient structural characteristics of a region by assessing the impact of the financial crisis. Utilizing panel data at the prefecture level for metropolitan cities across pre-shock (2006-2008), shock (2009), and post-shock (2010-2019) periods, we calculated an employment resilience index by combining the resistance and recovery indices. The panel logit regression measures the influences of the region's industrial structure and external economic factors in response to the global financial crisis. The results revealed that the diversity index of industries contributed to the post-shock recovery bounce-back. Additionally, the presence of large firms and industrial clusters within the region positively contributed to economic resilience. The specialization and the proportion of manufacturing industries showed negative effects, suggesting that regions overly reliant on manufacturing-centered specialization might be vulnerable to external shocks. Furthermore, excessive capital outflows for market expansion were found to have a detrimental impact on regional economic recovery.

What Did You Expect: How Brand Personality Types and Transgression Types Shape Consumers' Response in a Brand Crisis

  • We examined how different types of brand personality play a role to develop a specific consumers' expectation toward a brand, and how this expectation works in various ways in different types of brand transgressions. Based on expectancy violation theory and brand transgression research, a 2 (brand personality types: sincerity vs. competence) × 2 (brand transgression types: morality-related vs. competence-related transgression) factorial design was employed. Corporate evaluations and purchase intention toward the brand were considered as dependent variables. We found that a brand having a sincerity personality is more vulnerable to a morality-related transgression. However, there is no difference in consumers' responses by transgression type for a brand with a competence personality. We identified that brand personality types and transgression types can be critical factors to influence consumers' responses in times of crisis. Theoretical and empirical implications are discussed.

정보보안 침해 위험신호의 조직학습 실패에 관한 시스템 다이나믹스적 연구 (A Study on Risk Signal of Information Security and Organizational Learning Failure)

  • 이 논문에서는 정보보안 분야의 각종의 위험신호(risk signal)에 대해 조직이 왜 적절한 대응을 하지 못하는 가를 조직의 구조적 측면에서 그 원인을 분석하고자 하였다. 위기는 갑자기 오지 않으며, 많은 경우 위기는 위기와 관련한 위험신호(risk signal)를 제기하면서 진전된다. 이러한 위험신호에 대해 적절하게 대응하는 경우, 위험은 새로운 기회를 만들어내게 되지만 그러하지 않은 경우 위험은 경제적, 비경제적인 측면에서 재난적인 결과를 초래할 가능성을 갖는다. 이 논문에서는 인과지도(causal diagram)을 이용하여 시스템적인 관점에서 환류하는 인과 고리의 관점에서 현상을 분석하는 시스템 다이나믹스적인 분석을 시도하였다. 분석결과, 조직의 성장과 업적 위주의 분위기가 일종의 압력이 되어, 안전에 대한 불감을 강화하게 되며, 이는 각종의 위험신호들에 내재된 위험성에 대해 과소평가하는 압력으로 작용하게 되는 점을 분석하였다. 이는 나아가서 기술적 기반에 대해 적절한 투자가 이루어지 못하게 하고, 정보보안과 관련한 학습을 적절하게 하지 못하도록 한 것으로 나타난다. 이 논문은 탐색적으로 정보보안 분야에서의 위험신호와 조직학습과의 관계를 분석한 탐색적 연구로서의 성격을 가진다.

COVID-19와 삶의 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on COVID-19 and Changes in Life)

  • 본 연구는 COVID-19와 인간의 삶의 질에 대한 기초연구이다. 재난 후 사람들의 삶에 어떠한 변화가 있는지를 밝히고, 이를 토대로 이 시대를 살아가는 모든 대상에게 효과적으로 재난 이후 삶의 만족도를 향상시키기 위한 위기개입 연구의 기초자료를 제공하는 것이 연구의 목적이다. 본 연구는 COVID-19를 경험한 성인 3명을 대상으로 질적연구를 실시 하였다. 연구결과 COVID-19 이전과 이후 삶의 변화는 대상에 따라 달랐다. COVID-19는 분명 우리 사회에 큰 재난이다. 이러한 재난 상황을 슬기롭게 대처하기 위해서는 위기 개입프로그램이 절실하다고 할 수 있다. 대상에 따른 위기 상황에 즉각적으로 초점을 맞추고 현재 어려움을 평가하여 상황에 대해 클라이언트가 느끼는 반응을 파악하여 그들의 분노와 불안 등의 감정을 해소할 수 있는 프로그램이 요청된다고 할 수 있다.

  • 본 연구는 유엔 사무총장이 "코로나 19는 여성의 얼굴을 한 위기이다" 라고 언급한 것에서 볼 수 있듯이, 코로나 19 팬데믹으로 인하여 가장 큰 위기와 고통, 어려움에 처한 여성들의 상황을 통계자료들와 학술연구결과들을 통하여 경제적, 사회 문화적, 심리 정서적 측면에서 구체적으로 다루고, 이 문제들이 어떻게 "돌봄"에 관련되어 나타나는지 살펴보았다. 그리고 이러한 문제들과 위기에 대한 교회의 한 대응으로서 "돌봄윤리"와 "돌봄목회"를 통한 목회신학적 성찰을 도모하였다. 교회의 "돌봄목회"는 교회내의 개인적 돌봄 뿐 아니라 사회, 문화, 경제, 정치, 생태계적 이슈들에도 확장되며, 교회는 공공성을 가지고 재난과 관련된 이러한 이슈들에 응답하는 선교적 사명을 지닌다. 나아가 교육목회를 통해, 돌봄과 불평등에 대한 가치관과 사고방식의 변화와 디아코니아, 교회공동체의 사랑의 돌봄이 격려되어야 할 것이다.

Examining Public Responses to Transgressions of CEOs on YouTube: Social and Semantic Network Analysis

  • In what was labeled the "nut rage" incident, the vice president of Korean Air, Hyun-Ah Cho (Heather Cho), demonstrated behavior that exemplifies corporate transgression and deviation from societal moral standards toward a flight attendant aboard a flight. Such behavior instigated the public to express negative sentiment on various social media platforms. This study investigates word-of-mouth network on YouTube in response to the crisis, patterns of co-commenting activities across selected YouTube videos, as well as public responses to the incident by employing social and semantic network analysis. A total of 512 YouTube videos featuring the crisis from December 8, 2014 through November 11, 2018, and 52,772 public comments to the videos were collected. The central videos in the network successfully attracted the public's attention and engagements. The results suggest that the video network was decentralized, with multiple videos acting as hubs in the network. The public commented on various videos instead of focusing on a few. The contents of influential videos uploaded by popular news organizations revealed not only Cho's behaviors related to the nut rage crisis but also unrelated illegal behaviors and the moral violations committed by the family members of Korean Air. The public attached derogatory remarks to Cho and her family, and the comments also addressed ethical concerns, management issues of the company, and boycott intentions. The results imply that adverse public reaction was related to the long-standing problem caused by family ownership and governance in large Korean corporations. This Korean Air scandal illustrates backlash toward a leadership breakdown by the family business conglomerate prevalent in the Korean society. This study provides insights for effective handling of similar crises.

감염병 위기관리를 위한 긴급대응체계 구축 (Building a Emergency Response System for the Infectious Diseases Crisis Management)

  • 2015년 중동지역에서 발생한 메르스(Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, MERS)는 주요 발병국인 사우디아라비아를 제외하고 세계적으로 우리나라에 가장 큰 피해를 입힌 급성 호흡기 감염병이다. 메르스 사태는 인명피해뿐만 아니라 국민적 불안감과 막대한 경제적 피해를 가져왔으며, 정부의 감염병 위기관리 체계의 문제점을 여실히 보여주었다. 정부의 메르스 확산에 대한 대응능력의 한계와 국민을 대상으로 하는 정부의 커뮤니케이션 미흡 등은 정부의 감염병 위기관리 정책에 대한 국민의 신뢰를 저하시켰으며, 감염병으로 인해 국가의 방역망 체계가 쉽게 무너질 수 있다는 경각심을 불러일으키는 계기가 되었다. 이에 본 연구는 미국의 감염병 긴급대응체계를 고찰하여 우리나라 감염병 위기관리 체계의 개선방안을 모색하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여, 2015년 정부의 메르스 대응현황을 살펴보았다. 그리고 미국 CDC의 EOC 조직 구성 및 역할과 IMS 등을 분석하였다.

스마트 관광에서의 항공·호텔 온라인 리뷰 이용자의 감정반응 요인이 지속이용의도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Air·Hotel Online Review Media Users' Emotional Response Factors on Intention to Continue Use in Smart Tourism)

  • Recently, the tourism industry faced a crisis due to COVID-19. Smart tourism that combines information and communication technology (ICT) is rapidly growing to overcome the crisis in the tourism industry. In order to revitalize the tourism industry after COVID-19, such as non-face-to-face and non-contact, smart tourism incorporating information and communication technology (ICT) is actively encouraged and promoted. The purpose of this study is to empirically verify how perceived pleasure, perceived awakening, and perceived domination, which are three important variables of emotional response theory, affect the intention to continue use through perceived usefulness, expectation, and satisfaction. The survey was conducted for two weeks from November 1 to 15, 2020. A total of 175 surveys were collected during the period and used for analysis. As a result of the study, first, perceived pleasure did not significantly affect perceived usefulness, expectation, satisfaction, and intention to continue use. Second, perceived awakening had a significant effect on expectations, but did not significantly affect perceived usefulness, satisfaction, and continued use intention. Third, perceived domination had a significant effect on perceived usefulness, expectation, and continued use intention. However, it did not significantly affect satisfaction. Fourth, perceived usefulness did not significantly affect satisfaction. Fifth, expectations had a significant effect on perceived usefulness and satisfaction. Sixth, satisfaction had a significant effect on the intention to continue use. Through this, companies and developers that provide online review content for aviation and hotels should know what part of the content is actually focused on and provide it to customers. In addition, content should be provided in consideration of the emotional aspects that aviation and hotel online review users feel while watching videos.
