  • Due to the recent rapid changes in society and wide spread of information devices, diverse digital information is utilized in a variety of economic and social analysis. Information related to the crime statistics by type of crime has been used as a major factor in crime. However, statistical analysis using only the structured data has the difficulty in the investigation by providing limited information to investigators and users. In this paper, structured data and unstructured data are analyzed by applying Korean Natural Language Processing (Ko-NLP) and the Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) technique. It will provide a crime profile optimum system that can be applied to the crime profiling system or statistical analysis.

  • The government began to move large scale factories in city out to the suburbs because the city we live in is getting over-populated and becoming a highly congested district. However, because of alteration of use The transfed site of factory became to be mixed and used in residence and factory facility. Lately, as criminal technique and personality become cruel and feral, crime occurrence rose on the one of most important thing that decide resident's quality of life. This research tries to find come fear element which resident feel in sub-industry and improvement item for crime prevention. The purpose of this survey is to prevent crime by developing a proper housing environment. The survey was planned to find out factors of resident's awareness of fear about crime through pre-study and analyzed physical surrounding through spot survey. Through these investigation, can make following conclusion. First, The importance of lighting plan throughout the city is necessary to decrease fear of crime. Second, active crime prevention activity is required in park and playgrounds.

A pilot study of a new fingerprint powder application method for the reduction of health risk

  • As a traditional method to apply fingerprint powder, brush method ("dusting") can create a risk to the health of crime scene investigators due to the inhalation toxicity of harmful and fine powders. Therefore, as a new method of applying powders, we tried to evaluate the potential of a chamber method for the development of latent fingerprint using fans in a closed chamber with a fixed capacity that can prevent the powders from being blown outside and exposed to the users, by comparing with the development results of the conventional brush method. Fingerprints on glass and plastic (PET) were extracted with black powder and green fluorescent powder, and the sharpness and minutiae of the developed fingerprints were compared for each method. The results of the black powder showed similar results, but the effect of the chamber method was slightly decreased when the green fluorescent powder was used. In order to improve the development with the green fluorescent powder, the mixture (50 : 50) of the fluorescent powder with the silica gel was tested and the results were similar to those of the brush method. It is expected that the chamber method has a high potential as a new powder application method considering the health of the crime scene investigator after fine tuning of development conditions with additional studies.

  • Hair analysis for drugs of abuse offers the crucial potential advantage when compared to urine, such as the longer time window of drug intake, which makes retrospective investigation of chronic and/or past consumption. This paper reviews the physiological basis of hair growth, mechanism of drug incorporation, analytical methods, result interpretation and practical application of hair analysis. Moreover, to facilitate the court's decision regarding specific circumstances surrounding the crime, this review demonstrated that the results of hair analysis not only should be admitted as scientific evidence of drug use but also could legally improve reliability of the evidence.

  • Based on data provided by the science and technology knowledge infrastructure (ScienceON, 2017-2021), this paper reviews the research trends of domestic police services and related technologies, and describes the research and development direction of policing technology. For this purpose, the research was searched using the keywords science policing, smart policing, predictive policing, and policing. Policing technology is used for crime investigation (prevention), such as crime analysis and crime prediction. The collection of related data use urban infrastructure, the processing of data collected using technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and the utilization of data in police services (system) were summarized. In future, on-site support technology and crime investigation (prevention) technology for a preemptive correspondence to social threats and effective police activities must be developed. In addition, the quality of police services should be improved, a system to use police-related data should be developed, and the capabilities of police experts need to be strengthened.

  • Rapid social and economic growth has brought positive results. At the same time, due to the increase in crime, crime prevention is important. There are many papers that analyze crime trends and crime type. Based on this, there are studies to ensure the safety of people. The study calculated the risk for the crime. it is necessary to exert a great effect on crime prevention alternatives. This paper uses crime data provided from San Francisco and victims data provided from FBI. And, it proposes the crime risk calculation. By analyzing the type of user, risk degree is given different weights according to the user, and assess the risk of crime.

  • Since the Fourth Industrial Revolution, important technologies such as big data analysis, robotics, Internet of Things, and the artificial intelligence have been used in various fields. Generally speaking it is understood that the big-data technology consists of gathering stage for enormous data, analyzing and processing stage and distributing stage. Until now crime records which is one of useful big-sized data are utilized to obtain investigation information after occurring crimes. If crime records are utilized to predict crimes it is believed that crime occurring frequency can be lowered by processing big-sized crime records in big-data framework. In this research the design is proposed that the smart system can provide the users of smart devices crime occurrence probability by processing crime records in big-data analysis. Specifically it is meant that the proposed system will guide safer routes by displaying crime occurrence probabilities on the digital map in a smart device. In the experiment result for a smart application dealing with small local area it is showed that its usefulness is quite good in crime prevention.

  • Voice Phishing finds out personal information illegally using electrification and it is confidence game that withdraw deposit on the basis of this. It appeared by new social problem as damage instances increase rapidly. Target of the damage is invading indiscriminately to good civilian and is crime that commit by foreigners such as a most Chinese, Formosan. Voice Phishing can be crime type of new form in terms of criminal practice is achieved in the foreign countries. Therefore, this study wishes to analyze present occurrence actual conditions and example, and search effective confrontation plan regarding Voice Phishing. Voice Phishing criminal offense is growing as crime is not eradicated in spite of continuous public relations and control, and technique is diversified and specializes preferably. Hereafter, confrontation plan about problem may have to be readied in banking communication investigation to eradicate Voice Phishing. Also, polices control activity may have to be reinforce through quick investigation's practice and development of investigation technique, and relevant government ministry and international mutual assistance cooperation such as the Interpol should be reinforced because is shown international crime personality.

  • An ontology is a complex structure dictionary that defines the relationship between terms and terms related to specific knowledge in a particular field. There have been attempts to construct various ontologies in Korea and abroad, but there has not been a case in which a large scale crime investigation record is constructed as an ontology and a service is implemented through the ontology. Therefore, this paper describes the process of constructing an ontology based on information extracted from instrusion theft field of unstructured data, a crime investigation document, and implementing an ontology-based search service and a crime spot recommendation service. In order to understand the performance of the search service, we have tested Top-K accuracy measurement, which is one of the accuracy measurement methods for event search, and obtained a maximum accuracy of 93.52% for the experimental data set. In addition, we have obtained a suitable clue field combination for the entire experimental data set, and we can calibrate the field location information in the database with the performance of F1-measure 76.19% Respectively.

Factors Influencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Crime Scene Investigators (경찰 과학수사요원의 외상 후 스트레스 장애 발생 영향요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify the relationships among social support, resilience and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and especially to identify factors influencing PTSD in police crime scene investigators. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used, with a convenience sample of 226 police crime scene investigators from 7 Metropolitan Police Agencies. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires during July and August, 2015. Data were analyzed using t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, and binary logistic regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The mean score for PTSD in police crime scene investigators was 13.69 .11 points. Of the crime scene investigators 181 (80.1%) were in the low-risk group and 45 (19.9%) in high-risk group. Social support (t=5.68, p<.001) and resilience (t=5.47, p<.001) were higher in the low-risk group compared to the high-risk group. Logistic regression analysis showed that resilience (OR=4.74, 95% CI: 1.57~14.35), and social support (OR=2.13, 95% CI: 1.23~3.69) are effect factors for PTSD low group. Conclusion: For effective improvement of PTSD in police crime scene investigators, intervention programs including social support and strategies to increase should be established.
