The short-term high temperature creep rupture behavior of Ni-based Alloy718 steel was investigated at the elevated temperatures range of 550 to $700^{\circ}C$ under constant stress conditions. The creep rupture characteristics such as creep stress, rupture time, steady state creep rate, and initial strain were evaluated. Creep stress has a quantitative correlation between creep rupture tim and steady state creep rate. The stress exponents (n, m) of the experimental data at 550, 600, 650 and $700^{\circ}C$ were derived as 33.5, -24.9, 26.1, -21.2, 16.8, -12.8 and 10, -8.2, respectively. The stress exponent decreased with increasing creep temperature. The creep lift prediction was derived by the Larson-Miller parameter (LMP) method and the resultant equation was obtained as follows: T($logt_r$+20)=-0.00252 ${\sigma}^2$-1.377${\sigma}$+-22718.
The Kachanov and Rabotnov (K-R) creep damage model was interpreted and applied to type 316LN and HT-9 stainless steels. Seven creep constants of the model, A, B, $textsc{k}$, m, λ, ${\gamma}$, and q were determine d for type 316LN stainless steel. In order to quantify a damage parameter, the cavity was interruptedly traced during creep for measuring cavity area to be reflected into the damage equation. For type 316LN stainless steel, λ= $\varepsilon$R/$\varepsilon$* and λf=$\varepsilon$/$\varepsilon$R were 3.1 and increased with creep strain. The creep curve with λ=3.1 depleted well the experimental data to the full lifetime and its damage curve showed a good agreement when r=24. However for the HT-9 stainless steel, the values of λ and λf were different as λ=6.2 and λf=8.5, and their K-R creep curves did not agree with the experimental data. This mismatch in the HT-9 steel was due to the ductile fracture by softening of materials rather than the brittle fracture by cavity growth. The differences of the values in the above steels were attributed to creep ductilities at the secondary and the tertiary creep stages.
This study was carried out to evaluate the mechano-sorptive deflection of shear creep of drift pin jointed solid wood. Specimens were the solid wood of Pinus densiflora. The joint was composed with steel plate and drift pin, 85mm in length and 10mm in diameter. The creep tests were conducted under the constant loads in an variable environment. Five different shearing loads were applied parallel to the grain of specimens. The shearing loads applied were 170, 340, 510, 680 and 850 kgf. The stress levels were 10, 20, and 30, 40 and 50% of the bearing strength obtained from the tension-type lateral strength test. The creep tests for specimens were carried out for 10300 hours. A few general conclusions could be drawn from this study: The mechano-sorptive deflection (${\delta}$ ms) is defined as ${\delta}\;ms={\delta}\;t-({\delta}\;c+{\delta}\;sh)-{\delta}\;o$, where ${\delta}$ t is the total deflection, ${\delta}$ c is the pure creep, ${\delta}$ sh is shrinkage-swelling behavior, and ${\delta}$ o is the initial deflection. Changes of relative humidity may cause more severe creep deflection than those of constant humidity, especially during the drying process. The mechano-sorptive behaviors of specimens, except the effects of shrinkage and swelling, gradually increased with increasing time. The deflection is increased in desorption process and recovered in adsorption process. The deflections of drift pin jointed solid wood under different loads showed almost same tendency in all specimens. Although the creep deflection tendencies of each series are very similar, the specimens subjected to a large shearing load exhibit large creep deflections in the desorption process than do those to the small shearing load specimens.

carried out to present a rheology model which is able to treat time-dependent properties of clay. The results were summarized as follow ; 1. The slope (a(e1)) of deviator stress in strain rate test was independent on axial strain, and pore water pressure was decreased with increment of strain rate. 2. The pore water pressure in a stress relaxation condition was not changed when the strain rate before stress relaxation was 0.05%/min., but it was increased with increment of time when the strain rate before stress relaxation was 0.2%/min 3. The greater the stress condition (q/qmax) and the strain rate before creep test became, the greater the increment rate of axial strain in creep test became. 4. SEKIGUCHI's constitutive equation was slightly overpredicted while empirical equation proposed in the study was well coincided with measured values. 5. The constitutive equation induced by a strain function could be dealed with a behavior of the pore water pressure increased with increment of elapsed time after primary consolidation.
This paper presents a thermal creep test under internal pressure and post-test characterization performed on high burnup (68 MWd/kgU) ZIRLO. This research has been done by the CSN, ENRESA, and ENUSA in order to investigate the behavior of advanced cladding materials in contemporary PWRs at higher burnup under dry cask storage conditions. Also, to investigate the hydride reorientation, the cool-down of the samples after the test has been done in a coordinated manner with the internal pressure. The creep results obtained are consistent with the expected behavior from reference CWSR material, Zr-4. During the test, the material retained significant ductility: one specimen leaked during the test at an engineering strain of the tube section of 17%; remarkably, the crack closed due to de-pressurization. Although significant hydride reorientation occurred during the cool-down under pressure, no specimen failed during the cool-down.

Densification behavior and grain growth of zirconia powder compacts are investigated under high temperature. Experimental data are obtained for zirconia powder under pressureless sintering, sinter forging and hot isostatic pressing. The constitutive equations by Kwon et al. are used for diffusional creep and grain growth. The constitutive equations by McMeeking and co-workers are also included to study the effect of power-law creep. These constitutive equations are implemented into a finite element program (ABAQUS) to investigate the friction effect during sinter forging and the canning effect during hot isostatic pressing. The agreements between experimental data and finite element results are very good in pressureless sintering and hot isostatic pressing, but not as good in sinter forging.
This paper deals with behaviors of PSC-Beam bridges according to continuity of spans. To analyze the long-term behavior of bridges, an analytical model which can simulate the effects of creep, the shrinkage of concrete, and the cracking of concrete slabs in the negative moment regions is introduced. To consider the different material properties across the sectional depth, the layer approach in which a section is divided into imaginary concrete and steel layers is adopted. The element stiffness matrix is constructed according to the assumed displacement field formulation, and the creep and shrinkage effects of concrete are considered in accordance with the first-order algorithm based on the expansion of the creep compliance. Correlation studies between analytical and experimental results are conducted with the objective to establish the validity of the proposed model. Besides, many uncertainties related to the continuity of spans are analyzed to minimize deck cracking at interior supports.
High temperature materials in service are subjected to mechanical damage due to operating load and metallurgical damage due to operating temperature. Therefore, when designing or assessing life of high temperature components, both factors must be considered. In this paper, the effect of tensile hold time on high temperature fatigue crack growth and long term prior thermal aging heat treatment on creep rupture behavior were investigated using STS 316L and STS 316 austenitic stainless steels, which are widely used for high temperature components like in automotive exhaust and piping systems. In high temperature fatigue crack growth tests using STS 316L, as tensile hold time increased, crack growth rate decreased in relatively short tensile hold time region. In long term aged specimens, cavity type microcracks have been observed at the interface of grain boundary and coarsened carbide.
The creep property of salt rock significantly influences the long-term stability of the salt rock underground storage. Triaxial creep tests were performed to investigate the creep behavior of salt rock. The test results indicate that the creep of salt rock has a nonlinear characteristic, which is related to stress level and creep time. The higher the stress level, the longer the creep time, the more obvious the nonlinear characteristic will be. The elastic modulus of salt rock decreases with the prolonged creep time, which shows that the creep damage is produced for the gradual expansion of internal cracks, defects, etc., causing degradation of mechanical properties; meanwhile, the creep rate of salt rock also decreases with the prolonged creep time in the primary creep stage, which indicates that the mechanical properties of salt rock are hardened and strengthened. That is to say, damage and hardening exist simultaneously during the creep of salt rock. Both the damage effect and the hardening effect are considered, an improved Maxwell creep model is proposed by connecting an elastic body softened over time with a viscosity body hardened over time in series, and the creep equation of which is deduced. Creep test data of salt rock are used to evaluate the reasonability and applicability of the improved Maxwell model. The fitting curves are in excellent agreement with the creep test data, and compared with the classical Burgers model, the improved Maxwell model is able to precisely predict the long-term creep deformation of salt rock, illustrating our model can perfectly describe the creep property of salt rock.

Interrupted creep tests for investigating the structural degradation during creep were conducted for a Mod.9Cr-1Mo steel in the range of stress from 71 to 167 MPa and temperature from 873 to 923 K. The change of hardness and tempered martensitic lath width was measured in grip and gauge parts of interrupted creep specimens. The lath structure was thermally stable in static conditions. However, it was not stable during creep, and the structural change was enhanced by creep strain. The relation between the change in lath width and creep strain was described quantitatively. The change in Vickers hardness was expressed by a single valued function of creep LCR(life consumption ratio). Based on the empirical relation between strain and lath width, a model was proposed to describe the relation between change in hardness and creep LCR. The comparison of the model with the empirical relation suggests that about 65% of hardness loss is due to the decrease of dislocation density accompanied by the movement of lath boundaries. The role of precipitates on subboundaries was discussed in connection with the abnormal subgrain growth appearing in low stress regime.
