  • This paper proposes a dynamic magnetic field emulator (DMFE), which can electrically emulate information for the magnetic stripes of most widely used credit cards. Payment transactions with most common credit cards are performed by reading the card's information, encoded in magnetic stripes, using the reader head of a point-of-sale (POS) system. A stripe-type permanent magnet is attached to the back side of the credit card, and information for payments or value-added service is reorganized by exposing it to strong magnetic field. The process of data recording and retrieving as stated above has been pointed out as a major cause of illegal credit card use, because the information on the magnetic stripe is always exposed, and is thus vulnerable to forgery or alteration. A dynamic magnetic field emulator displays card information only when necessary by using the principle of solenoidal magnets. The DMFE proposed in this paper can prevent fraudulent use if it is operated with a device, like a smart phone, or a separate user-authentication procedure. In addition, because it is possible to display various information as needed, it can be utilized for a smart multi-card application, in which information for multiple cards is stored in one card, and can be selected and used as needed. This paper introduces the necessity of the DMFE and its manufacturing principles. As a result, this study will be helpful for making various application cases in payment, which is a core area of the Fintech (a newly-coined word of finance and technology) industry.

현재 사용되어지는 모바일카드의 대부분은 USIM(Universal Subscriber Identification Module) 칩에 신용카드 정보를 다운받아 사용자에게 서비스를 제공한다.

  • The policy for credit card approval/disapproval is based on the applier's personal and financial information. In this paper, we will analyze 2 credit card approval data with several classification methods. We identify which variables are important factors to decide the approval of credit card. Our main tool is an open-source statistical programming environment R which is freely available from http://www.r-project.org. It is getting popular recently because of its flexibility and a lot of packages (libraries) made by R-users in the world. We will use most widely used methods, LDNQDA, Logistic Regression, CART (Classification and Regression Trees), neural network, and SVM (Support Vector Machines) for comparisons.

  • This study aims to develop a theoretical model in order to determine factors affecting consumer intention to use credit cards by combining Theory of perceived risk and Technology acceptance model. Despite of perspective of consequences in prior studies on related research fields, this study focuses on the sources of perceived risk, including transaction, payment and credit risks, which are proposed and measured in a preliminary research. A measurement model and a structural model with the presence of perceived risk in sources are tested in a formal research with data collected from 538 bank customers. An analysis results show that payment risk, usefulness, transaction risk, ease of use, and credit risk influence significantly Vietnamese consumers' intention to use credit cards in decreasing order of influence. These factors account for 64.6% of the variation in intended use. All three dimensions of perceived risk have a negative effect on the intention to use, with the total impact greater than the level of influence of the other two factors of usefulness and ease of use. These findings can be beneficial to banks in enacting policies to attract more consumers and to allocate resources for improving their credit card business.

  • Credit evaluation is one of the most important and difficult tasks fur credit card companies, mortgage companies, banks and other financial institutes. Incorrect credit judgement causes huge financial losses. This work describes the use of an evolutionary-fuzzy system capable of classifying suspicious and non-suspicious credit card transactions. The paper starts with the details of the system used in this work. A series of experiments are described, showing that the complete system is capable of attaining good accuracy and intelligibility levels for real data.

  • Card-Not-Present (CNP) transactions taking place remotely over the Internet are becoming more prevalent. Cardholder authentication should be provided to prevent the CNP fraud resulting from the theft of stored credit card numbers. To address the security problems associated with CNP transactions, the use of a virtual card number derived from the transaction details for the payment has been proposed, instead of the real card number. Since all of the virtual card number schemes proposed so far are based on a password shared between the cardholder and card issuer, transaction disputes due to the malicious behavior of one of the parties involved in the transaction cannot be resolved. In this paper, a new virtual card number scheme is proposed, which is associated with the cardholder's public key for signature verification. It provides strong cardholder authentication and non-repudiation of the transaction without deploying a public-key infrastructure, so that the transaction dispute can be easily resolved. The proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of its security and usability, and compared with the previously proposed schemes.

  • Credit scoring system (CSS) starts from an analysis of delinquency trend of each individual or industry. This paper conducts a research on credit card delinquency of bank customers as a preliminary step for building effective credit scoring system to prevent excess loan or bad credit status. To serve this purpose, we use association rules as a rule generating data mining technique. Specifically, we generate sets of rules of customers who are in bad credit status because of delinquency by association rule mining. We expect that the sets of rules generated by association rule mining could act as an estimator of good or bad credit status classifier and basic component of early warning system.

  • Recently, personal business styles have been rapidly changed into e-business due to the rapid progress and deployment of Internet. As a result of the change, new and safe ways of payment such as electronic wallet, electronic money and electronic check have been developed and introduced. In this paper a secure and user-friendly payment method is addressed. One of most important reasons why newly developed safe payment methods are not widely used in e-business is lack of convenience for the users. On the other hand credit card based payment, which is traditional one, is the most prevailing due to the user-friendliness. However this payment also has some problem in sense of security. In this paper, we design and implement a secure credit card-based payment system using one-time credit information. The main features are "payment information must be new", "can use the old credit system", and "do not require client software".
