Evaluation of Bending Characteristics for Carbon FRP Structure having Circle Cross-section (원통 CFRP 구조재의 굽힘 특성 평가)

  • Works on the strength and stiffness in the structural members are carried out widely with various material and cross-sections with ever increasing safety concerns, they are presently applied in various fields including railroad trains, air crafts and automobiles. In addition to this, problem of lighting structural members became important subject by control of exhaust gas emission, fuel economy and energy efficiency. So, Light weight of member structures is necessary for the high performance and various functions. In this study, the CFRP flat and circular member was manufactured by CFRP prepreg sheet in autoclave. Carbon FRP is an anisotropy material whose mechanical properties change with its fiber orientation angle, so this study apply to the effects of the fiber orientation angle on the bending characteristics of the member. Each CFRP flat and circle are compared by strength and stiffness.

A Study on the Emergence of the Studio Furniture Movement in the United States (미국 스튜디오퍼니쳐 운동의 대두에 관한 연구)

  • The studio furniture movement that expanded in the United States after the Second World War was truly American creation representing highly sophisticated individualism versus industrial anonymity. The studio furniture movement can be traced back to the 1930s in terms of its influences and emergences. Based on the ideals of Arts and Crafts movements from the earlier decades, studio furniture movement emerged in the 1950s in reaction to Bauhaus inspired industrially produced furniture. Studio furniture has represented an alternative for people who wanted individual objects in their homes rather than industrially produced products. Opposed to plastics and industrial materials, artists in studio furniture mainly focused on one natural material, emphasizing its singular beauty. There were significant roles and influences of craft education along with Scandinavian influences in terms of spreading out the movement. A historical examination of furniture from the 1930s until the 1960s illustrates how this significant movement began in the mid-century.

  • Aggravation of natural environment, improvements in income, internet diffusion, spread of five-day work a week, and population aging seem very different from each other. However they boil down to consumption. These culture patterns are changing into environment-friendly and productive housing culture. In other words, people might tend to have frequent contacts with not only environment-friendly housing in bustling cities but also woods that is environment friendly materials in their leisure time. In the period of people young and old alike are in favor of woodcrafts, this study was conducted for giving information to who speicalized in woodcrafts. Furthermore, the study shows that other countries also added grain and figure to woodcrafts for visually appealing.

  • Derivation of modern products from the by gone age has contributed much for the new modern living. It has been generally recognized that the various ethnicities in Borneo with different backgrounds had made Borneo a place of cultural diversity. However as time passed, most indigenous products are no longer in used or are stored in poor condition. Most products nearly aged over a century are still in a good condition with invaluable sentiments. Indigenous product is an artifact that had been designed and used by certain community of people such as tools, clothing, crafts and goods. Each design may have its own identity to the community. Some of the indigenous products which are no longer in use at present are kept by the community as their collections. The research reveals similarities in the interests of indigenous products, concerns and realities of indigenous communities from the different regions. The study suggests that learning about indigenous materials, such as hand-made products and machine-made products is necessary for the local industry to develop a product identity that is distinctly local. Most indigenous products show evidence of connections to old traditions, yet are new to the design market.

  • The plastic arts, which has substantially been regarded as a part of aesthetic activities originated in the artistic forms reflects interrelated aspects of the times. Prediction of the critical buckling load of SWCNT reinforced concrete cylindrical shell embedded in an elastic foundation

  • Concrete is the most widely used substance in construction industry, so it's been required to improve its quality using new technologies. Nowadays, nanotechnology offers new frontiers for improving construction materials. In this paper, we study the stability analysis of the Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNT) reinforced concrete cylindrical shell embedded in elastic foundation using the Donnell cylindrical shell theory. In this regard, we propose a new explicit analytical formula of the critical buckling load which takes into account the distribution of SWCNT reinforcement through the thickness of the concrete shell using the U, X, O and V forms and the elastic foundation using Winkler and Pasternak models. The rule of mixture is used to calculate the effective properties of the reinforced concrete cylindrical shell. The influence of diverse parameters on the stability behavior of the reinforced concrete shell is also discussed.

Synthesis of (S)-5-iodo-2-aminoindan.HCI ((S)-5-요오드 -2-아미노인단.염산염의 합성)

  • (S)-5-iodo-2-aminoindan.HCI (7) was synthesized for developing a serotonergic agent. (S)- Phenylalanine was protected with trifuoroacetyl group and compound 2 was prepared by direct iodination in acetic acid and in the presence of I$_2$, KIO$_4$, and sulfuric acid. Compound 3 was cyclized by Friedel-Crafts reaction and reduced with NaBH$_4$ to form 5-iodo-2-(N-trifluoroacetyl)aminoindan-1-ol (4) . This compound was reduced to indan derivative 5 using the triethylsilane and BF$_3$ . Et$_2$O. It was basified with $K_2$CO$_3$ solution and treated with saturated HCl in ethyl ether to isolate compound 7.

An Experimental Study on Resistance decrease Due to the Stern Flap of a Large Warship (대형 함정에 부착된 flap의 저항감소 효과에 대한 실험적 고찰)

  • Model tests for a stern flap have been performed to decrease the resistance of a large warship and to optimize the flap. Stern flaps and wedges of fast crafts are studied to apply to a large vessel in terms of speed-length ratio. The model tests of the flap has been carried out to find the effects of the design parameters, i.e. length and angie on resistance decrease. This work concludes that the optimized stern flap reduced resistance not only at the high speed by 9% but also at the cruising speed.

Characterization of Surface Modified Polysulfone Membranes with Various Fluorine Chemicals

  • The surface of polysulfone membranes has been modified using the fluorine chemicals, ITFE (2-iodo-1,1,1-trifluoro-ethane F.W.=209.94) and PFPI (1H,1H-pentafluoro-n-propyl iodide F.W.=259.95), and PFI (1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorohexyl iodide, F.W.=373.99) based on Friedel-Crafts reaction mechanism with varying reaction temperatures, reaction time, and catalysis types. The resulting membranes were characterized through mainly the contact angle measurement and pure water permeability. The smaller reactant shows the larger contact angles. FeBr$_3$ catalyst is more effective than AlCl$_3$. Typically, the PS film treated with ITFE at $25^{\circ}C$ under FeBr$_3$ catalyst showed the contact angle 78.5$^{\circ}C$ which indicated 10% over the value of unreacted PS films. More than 50% of pure water flux 8.0 g/$m^2$hr, reduced at reaction time 10 min relative to the original flux, 3.49 g/$m^2$hr.

내염소성을 갖는 개질 폴리아미드막의 제조 I. 술폰기를 함유하고 있는 폴리아미드합성

  • 최근에 들어 고분자막을 이용하는 분리공정이 다양한 분야에 걸쳐 중요한 역할을 하고 있으나 적용공정에 따라 개선해야 할 점들을 가지고 있다. 역삼투공정의 수행에 있어 폴리아미드막(PA)은 투과유량이 CA막보다 3-5배 정도이며 기계적 강도에서도 우수한 성능을 발휘하지만 CA막을 완전히 대체하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이 이유는 아미드결합이 공정상에 포함되는 염소에 대해 저항성을 가지고 있지 못한 때문이다. 이런 문제들은 물질의 구조에 지배적인 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서는 Friedel-Crafts reaction을 이용하여 합성된 술폰기를 단량체와 기존의 입체장애를 가지는 단량체를 가지고 고분자를 중합하고 비용매 중에 침적시켜 술폰기를 갖는 폴리아미드를 제조하였다. 침적시 비용매로는 아세톤, 에탄올, 물등이 좋은 경향을 보였다. 얻어진 고분자를 열분석을 통해 열적특징을 살펴보았으며, 또한 이들에 대한 염소저항성을 타진하여 역삼투 공정막으로서의 사용가능성을 살펴 보았다.
