  • In this study, two kinds of soil-based proficiency testing materials (PTMs), NICE-012L and NICE-012R were prepared and certified for Benzen, Toluene, Etylbenzene and Xylene with evaluation of uncertainties. In order to analyse BTEX (Benzen Toluene Etylbenzene Xylene) for the candidate materials, GC/MS was used after pretreatment according to methods of soil analysis by Ministry of Environment. For the homogeneity test among bottles in terms of candidate materials, ISO 13528 and IUPAC Protocol were used and according to the result, both candidate materials showed sufficient homogeneity. Also, the stability test over the candidate materials was accessed according to the ISO Guide 35 by classifying short-term and long-term stability and the result showed that both candidate materials showed decent stability. The reference values of the two candidate materials depending on BTEX components were derived from the average of the 11 samples that were used for verification of the samples' homogeneity. Uncertainty of measurement was combined by uchar that was caused by a characteristic value, $u_{bb}$ that was caused by between-bottle homogeneity, and $u_{stab}$ that was caused by stability, and then combined uncertainty ($u_{PTM}$) was multiplied to the coverage factor (k) derived from the effective degree of freedom from each factor that leads to expanded uncertainty (U) in about 95% of confidence level. The proficiency testing materials developed through this study were supplied to National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) and utilized as an external proficiency testing materials for evaluating analysis capacity of soil agencies with specialty in terms of soil analysis approved by Minister of Environment.

  • Current testing(Iddq testing) on monitoring the quiescent power supply current is an efficient and effective method for CMOS bridging faults. The applicability of this technique, however, requires careful examination. Since cardinality of bridging fault is O($n^2$) and current testing requires much longer testing time than voltage testing, it is important to note that a bridging fault is untestable if the two bridged nodes have the same logic values at all times. Such faults should be identified by a good ATPG tool; otherwise, the fault coverage can become skewed. In this paper, we present an object-oriented redundant fault detection scheme for efficient current testing. Experimental results for ISCAS benchmark circuits show that the improved method is more effective than the previous ones.

  • Recent advances in computer technology have brought more dependence on software to railway systems and changed to computer systems. Hence, the reliability and safety assurance of the vital software running on the embedded railway system is going to tend toward very critical task. Accordingly, various software test and validation activities are highly recommended in the international standards related railway software. In this paper, we presented an automated analysis tool and standard for software testing coverage in railway system, and presented its result of implementation. We developed the control flow analysis tool estimating test coverage as an important quantitative item for software safety verification in railway software. Also, we proposed judgement standards due to railway S/W Safety Integrity Level(SWSIL) based on analysis of standards in any other field for utilizing developed tool widely at real railway industrial sites. This tool has more advantage of effective measuring various test coverages than other countries, so we can expect railway S/W development and testing technology of real railway industrial sites in Korea.

  • Memory cell array and peripheral circuits are designed for system on panel style frame buffer. Moreover, a parallel test methodology to test multiple blocks of memory cells is proposed to overcome low yield of system on panel processing technologies. It is capable of faster fault detection compared to conventional memory tests and also applicable to the tests of various embedded memories and conventional SRAMs. The various patterns of conventional test vectors can be used to enhance fault coverage. The proposed testing method is also applicable to hierarchical bit line and divided word line, one of design trends of recent memory architectures.

  • iOS applications refer to the apps operating on iOS, a mobile OS developed by Apple. As iOS provides graphic user interfaces based on touch screens, most of iOS apps support GUIs. GUIs become increasingly important for iOS apps. So are GUI tests. As GUI functions are performed by event handlers, faulty event handlers could cause defects in GUIs. Hence, this study detects faults in event handlers as a way to test GUIs for iOS apps, and suggests how to generate test cases by re-defining input domains of event handlers.

  • Recently, a new testing technique called concolic testing receives lots of attention. Concolic testing generates test data by combining concrete program execution and symbolic execution to achieve high test coverage. CREST is a representative open-source test tool implementing concolic testing. Currently, however, CREST only deals with integer type as input. This paper presents a new rule for automated test data generation in presence of inputs of pointer type. The rules effectively handles multi-level stack-directed pointers that are mainly used in C programs. In addition, we describe a tool named vCREST implementing the proposed rules together with the results of applying the tool to some C programs.

  • A variety of applications that are accessible through app markets provide useful features and functions. However, those applications can present many GUI bugs due to the deficiency of testing processes. Even though various approaches have been developed for mobile app testing, GUI bugs in applications are still difficult to be identified due to the absence of efficiency, lack of automation, and necessity of access to the source code. In this paper, we propose an automated black-box testing method for efficient GUI bug detection. Our experimental results show that the proposed method achieves better code coverage and uncovers GUI bugs when compared with existing black-box testing called Monkey.

  • In software systems, it has been observed that a fault is often caused by an interaction between a small number of input parameters. Even for moderately sized software systems, exhaustive testing is practically impossible to achieve. This is either due to time or cost constraints. Combinatorial (t-way) testing provides a technique to select a subset of exhaustive test cases covering all of the t-way interactions, without much of a loss to the fault detection capability. In this paper, an approach is proposed to generate 2-way (pairwise) test sets using genetic algorithms. The performance of the algorithm is improved by creating an initial solution using the overlap coefficient (a similarity matrix). Two mutation strategies have also been modified to improve their efficiency. Furthermore, the mutation operator is improved by using a combination of three mutation strategies. A comparative survey of the techniques to generate t-way test sets using genetic algorithms was also conducted. It has been shown experimentally that the proposed approach generates faster results by achieving higher percentage coverage in a fewer number of generations. Additionally, the size of the mixed covering arrays was reduced in one of the six benchmark problems examined.

  • An investigation of tunnel linings is performed at two tunnels in the US using complimentary noncontact techniques: air-coupled ground penetrating radar (GPR), and a vehicle-mounted scanning system (SPACETEC) that combines laser, visual, and infrared thermography scanning methods. This paper shows that a combination of such techniques can maximize inspection coverage in a comprehensive and efficient manner. Since ground-truth is typically not available in public tunnel field evaluations, the noncontact techniques used are compared with two reliable in-depth contact nondestructive testing methods: ground-coupled GPR and ultrasonic tomography. The noncontact techniques are used to identify and locate the reinforcement mesh, structural steel ribs, internal layer interfaces, shallow delamination, and tile debonding. It is shown that this combination of methods can be used synergistically to provide tunnel owners with a comprehensive and efficient approach for monitoring tunnel lining conditions.

  • A new test approach based on a supply current test method is proposed for testing open faults in bipolar logic circuits. In the approach, only the open faults are detected by the supply current test method, which are difficult to be detected by functional test methods. The effectiveness of the approach is examined experimentally on open fault detection in TTL combinational circuits. The results shows that higher fault coverage can be established by applying a small number of test input vectors of the supply current test method after test vectors of functional test methods based on stuck-at models.
