A Bandwidth Adaptive Path Selection Scheme in IEEE 802.16 Relay Networks

  • The IEEE 802.16 mobile multi-hop relay (MMR) task group 'j' (TGj) has introduced the multi-hop relaying concept in the IEEE 802.16 Wireless MAN, wherein a relay station (RS) is employed to improve network coverage and capacity. Several RSs can be deployed between a base station and mobile stations, and configured to form a tree-like multi-hop topology. In such architecture, we consider the problem of a path selection through which the mobile station in and outside the coverage can communicate with the base station. In this paper, we propose a new path selection algorithm that ensures more efficient distribution of resources such as bandwidth among the relaying nodes for improving the overall performance of the network. Performance of our proposed scheme is compared with the path selection algorithms based on loss rate and the shortest path algorithm. Based on the simulation results using ns-2, we show our proposal significantly improves the performance on throughput, latency and bandwidth consumption.

Partial Scan Performance Evaluation of Iterative Method of Testability Measurement(ITEM) (시험성 분석 기법(ITEM)의 부분 스캔 성능 평가)

  • Testability analysis computes controllabilities and observabilities of all lines of a circuit and then evaluates fault coverage. The values of controllability and observability as well as fault coverage produced by testability analysis are used for applications of testability analysis. ITEM was evaluated as a fault coverage tool. But the values of controllability and observability at all lines of circuits must be estimated as a performance measure of testability tools for another application such as partial scan. In this paper, partial scan method based on sensitivity analysis which estimates relative improvement of detectability of circuits after scanning a flip-flop is used for performance evaluation of ITEM. Performance of ITEM, with respect to testability values on each net, has been measured by comparing ITEM and STAFAN. Partial scan performance achieved by ITEM is very similar to that of STAFAN, but ITEM takes less CPU time. Therefore ITEM is very efficient for partial scan application because ITEM runs faster for very large circuits in which execution time is critical.

On the Performance of Iterated Wild Bootstrap Interval Estimation of the Mean Response

  • We consider the iterated bootstrap method in regression model with heterogeneous error variances. The iterated wild bootstrap confidence intervla of the mean response is considered. It is shown that the iterated wild bootstrap confidence interval has coverage error of order $n^{-1}$ wheresa percentile method interval has an error of order $n^{-1/2}$. The simulation results reveal that the iterated bootstrap method calibrates the coverage error of percentile method interval successfully even for the small sample size.

  • We considered a bootstrap method for constructing confidenc intervals for a one parameter model using multinomial sampling. The convergence rates or the proposed bootstrap method are calculated for model-based maximum likelihood estimators(MLE) using multinomial sampling. Monte Carlo simulation was used to compare the performance of bootstrap methods with normal approximations in terms of the average coverage probability criterion.

  • In this paper, we analyze the active RFID systems ISO/IEC 18000-7 and ISO/IEC 18000-4. In order to improve the coverage in sensor networks, which consist active RFID tag, we propose RFID multi-hop relay system using active RFID relay tag. To compare the performance between the existing ISO/IEC 18000-7 system and the proposed RFID multi-hop relay system, we introduce new system efficiency measure and sensitivity-based measure of achieved coverage. Also, we analyze the performance of the proposed system and compare it with that of the existing system through MCL (Minimum Coupling Loss) analysis and SLS (System Level Simulation) analysis.

  • In this paper, various methods for finding confidence intervals for the p of binomial parameter are reviewed. We compare the performance of several confidence interval estimates in terms of actual coverage probability by small sample Monte Carlo simulation.

  • In this paper, a novel navigation method is presented for the cleaning robot in the unknown workspace. In order to do this, we propose a new map representation method and a complete coverage navigation method. First, we discuss a triangular cell map representation which makes the cleaning robot navigate with shorter path and increased flexibility than a rectangular cell map representation.   • In this paper, we analyzed the reach performance of the FLC-C VDSL system using 4-CAP modulation scheme. We measured the attenuation of VDSL lines and their noise characteristics, and calculated the channel capacity. And then, we evaluated the VDSL coverage fro each type of cables; CPEV 0.5mm, CPEV 0.65mm, UTP3 0.5mm, UTP5 0.5mm, FS 0.4mm, FS 0.5mm. In case that FLC-C VDSL modern transmits 25.92 Mbps data over a UTP5 0.5mm cable, the VDSL reach appears to be about 570mm.

  • In wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs), the network lifetime is an important criterion to measure the performance of the WSAN system. Generally, the network lifetime is mainly affected by the energy of sensors. However, the energy of sensors is limited, and the batteries of sensors cannot be replaced and charged. So, it is crucial to make energy consumption efficient. WSAN introduces multiple actuators that can be regarded as multiple collectors to gather data from their respective surrounding sensors. But how to deploy actuators to reduce the energy consumption of sensors and increase the manageability of the network is an important challenge. This research optimizes actuators deployment by a proposed probabilistic mutation multi-layer particle swarm optimization algorithm to maximize the coverage of actuators to sensors and reduce the energy consumption of sensors. Simulation results show that this method is effective for improving the coverage rate and reducing the energy consumption.

  • Multivariate Confidence Region (MCR) cannot be used to obtain the confidence region of the mean vector of multivariate data when the normality assumption is not satisfied; however, the Quantile Confidence Region (QCR) could be used with a Multivariate Quantile Vector in these cases. The coverage rate of the QCR is better than MCR; however, it has a disadvantage because the QCR has a wide shape when the probability density function follows a bimodal form. In this study, we propose a Quantile Confidence Region using the Highest density (QCRHD) method with the Highest Density Region (HDR). The coverage rate of QCRHD was superior to MCR, but is found to be similar to QCR. The QCRHD is constructed as one region similar to QCR when the distance of the mean vector is close. When the distance of the mean vector is far, the QCR has one wide region, but the QCRHD has two smaller regions. Based on these features, it is found that the QCRHD can overcome the disadvantages of the QCR, which may have a wide shape.
