Synthetic Aperture Radars(SAR) are used mainly for high-resolution imaging of the terrain. This paper describes the $16{\times}16$ array antenna designed for an X-band, automobile-based SAR(AutoSAR) system. This antenna has the structure of several layers such as radome, radiators, slots, feed network, and honeycomb cores. Each layer is adhesively bonded to meet different combination of structural and electrical design requirements. Using the Strip-Slot-Foam-Inverted-Patch(SSFIP) structure and honeycomb cores, a wide bandwidth and a structural hardness were achieved. Measurement results were compared with simulation results. It was observed that this antenna had a bandwidth of 1.7 GHz, side-lobe levels of less than -20 dB, half-power beamwidth of $5^{\circ}$ and $5^{\circ}$, and gains of 25.0 dBi. The observed results show that the designed array antenna will be applicable to the wideband SAR system.

The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is a highly-effective aftertreatment device for NOx reduction of diesel engines. Generally, the ammonia ($NH_3$) was generated from reaction mechanism of SCR in the SCR system using the liquid urea as the reluctant. Therefore, the precise urea dosing control is a very important key for NOx and $NH_3$ slip reduction in the SCR system. This paper investigated NOx and $NH_3$ emission characteristics of urea-SCR dosing system based on model-based control algorithm in order to reduce NOx. In the map-based control algorithm, target amount of urea solution was determined by mass flow rate of exhaust gas obtained from engine rpm, torque and $O_2$ for feed-back control NOx concentration should be measured by NOx sensor. Moreover, this algorithm can not estimate $NH_3$ absorbed on the catalyst. Hence, the urea injection can be too rich or too lean. In this study, the model-based control algorithm was developed and evaluated on the numerical model describing physical and chemical phenomena in SCR system. One channel thermo-fluid model coupled with finely tuned chemical reaction model was applied to this control algorithm. The vehicle test was carried out by using map-based and model-based control algorithms in the NEDC mode in order to evaluate the performance of the model based control algorithm.
In this study, we provide a single element log-periodic antenna that the feeding networks and array structures are aperture coupled and series dipole array type. We made the antenna for direct receiving the Moogoongwha satellite broadcasting signal. The transmission power was able to feed the patch dipole in series due to lay perpendicularly 8 series patch dipole on tapered slot. The patch dipole radiation pattern which fed in series power, make the main beam direction up $37^{\circ}{\sim}42^{\circ}$ within the BS/CS bandwidth. The main beam gain was measured 9.31~11.03 dBi. Using 32 elements to array the elements properly, we acquire $4{\times}8$ array structure on limited PCB board. As a result, it has been found that the new planar DBS antenna structure have high gain over 10dBi and acceptable elevation angle over 42 degree, and we can apply this result to commercial DBS reception antenna manufacturing.
Contamination by foodborne pathogens and mycotoxins was examined in 475 eggs and 20 feed samples collected from three egg layer farms, three egg-processing units, and five retail markets in Korea. Microbial contamination with Salmonella species, Escherichia coli, and Arcobacter species was examined by bacterial culture and multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The contamination levels of aflatoxins, ochratoxins, and zearalenone in eggs and chicken feeds were simultaneously analyzed with high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with fluorescence detection after the post-derivatization. While E. coli was isolated from 9.1% of eggs, Salmonella species were not isolated. Arcobacter species were detected in 0.8% of eggs collected from egg layers by PCR only. While aflatoxins, ochratoxins, and zearalenone were found in 100%, 100%, and 85% of chicken feeds, their contamination levels were below the maximum acceptable levels (1.86, 2.24, and 147.53 μg/kg, respectively). However, no eggs were contaminated with aflatoxins, ochratoxins, or zearalenone. Therefore, the risk of contamination by mycotoxins and microbes in eggs and chicken feeds is considered negligible and unlikely to pose a threat to human health.
This paper describes the development of a circularly polarized microstrip antenna, as a part of the Circularly Polarized Synthetic Aperture Radar (CP-SAR) sensor which is currently under developed at the Microwave Remote Sensing Laboratory (MRSL) in Chiba University. CP-SAR is a new type of sensor developed for the purpose of remote sensing. With this sensor, lower-noise data/image will be obtained due to the absence of depolarization problems from propagation encounter in linearly polarized synthetic aperture radar. As well the data/images obtained will be investigated as the Axial Ratio Image (ARI), which is a new data that hopefully will reveal unique various backscattering characteristics. The sensor will be mounted on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) which will be aimed for fundamental research and applications. The microstrip antenna works in the frequency of 1.27 GHz (L-Band). The microstrip antenna utilized the proximity-coupled method of feeding. Initially, the optimization process of the single patch antenna design involving modifying the microstrip line feed to yield a high gain (above 5 dBi) and low return loss (below -10 dB). A minimum of 10 MHz bandwidth is targeted at below 3 dB of Axial Ratio for the circularly polarized antenna. A planar array from the single patch is formed next. Consideration for the array design is the beam radiation pattern in the azimuth and elevation plane which is specified based on the electrical and mechanical constraints of the UAV CP-SAR system. This research will contribute in the field of radar for remote sensing technology. The potential application is for landcover, disaster monitoring, snow cover, and oceanography mapping.

The varous techniques for fabrication of si or metal tip as a field emission electron source have been reported due to great potential capabilities of flat panel display application. In this report, 240nm thermal oxide was initially grown at the p-type (100) (5-25 ohm-cm) 4 inch Si wafer and 310nm Si3N4 thin layer was deposited using low pressure chemical vapor deposition technique(LPCVD). The 2 micron size dot array was photolithographically patterned. The KOH anisotropic etching of the silicon substrate was utilized to provide V-groove formation. After formation of the V-groove shape, dry oxidation at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 600 minutes was followed. In this procedure, the orientation dependent oxide growth was performed to have a etch-mask for dry etching. The thicknesses of the grown oxides on the (111) surface and on the (100) etch stop surface were found to be ~330nm and ~90nm, respectively. The reactive ion etching by 100 watt, 9 mtorr, 40 sccm Cl2 feed gas using inductively coupled plasma (ICP) system was performed in order to etch ~90nm SiO layer on the bottom of the etch stop and to etch the Si layer on the bottom. The 300 watt RF power was connected to the substrate in order to supply ~(-500)eV. The negative ion energy would enhance the directional anisotropic etching of the Cl2 RIE. After etching, remaining thickness of the oxide on the (111) was measured to be ~130nm by scanning electron microscopy.

In this paper, TX/RX dual operation microstrip single antenna for satellite communication is designed, analyzed, fabricated and measured. TX/RX frequency ranges are 14.0∼l4.5 GHz, 11.7∼12.75 GHz in respectively and vertical and horizontal polarizations are used for TX and RX. This antenna uses microstrip direct feeding for RX and aperture coupled strip-line feeding for TX and accommodates stacked elements for a high directivity and wide impedance bandwidth. In an analysis of single element, FDTD and MOM was compared and FDTD analysis was more accurate because of the consideration of finite structure and imperfect two ground planes. The proposed structure facilitates generally to an extension of two dimensional array and lower an unwanted radiation by strip-line feed in TX. TX/RX 8${\times}$4 array has a return loss below -10 dB, -14 dB in TX, RX respectively and a gain ranging from 19.1∼20.7 dB in TX, 21.2∼21.8 dB in RX which has a radiation efficiency of 43∼5l %, 52∼57 %.

A novel single feed wide band CP stacked microstrip antenna using crossed slots has been designed, fabricated and measured. For the single rediating element the designed 10dB return loss bandwidth is 34.5%99.45~13.54 GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 18.7%(11.17~13.39GHz), and 6 dB gain bandwidth is 29%(10.21~13.64GHz). For the 2$\times$2 array designed using a sequential rotation method, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 35.9%(9.69~13.94GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 34.6GHz (9.93~14.03GHz), and 6dB gain bandwidth is 27.4%(10.35~13.6GHz). For the fabricated 8$\times$8 array antenna, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 27.3%(10.17~13.41GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 27.9GHz(10.1~13.4GHz), and the radiation pattern is good agreement with theory. This antenna can be used for broadband applications for communications or broadcasting in Ku band.

A circularly polarized $12\times12$ array with application in the satellite communications is designed at 10 GHz. The radiator is an aperture-coupled ring patch, which is suitable of large arrays. The element spacing of the array is chosen to be $0.7\lambda_0$to maintain the main beam in the broadside direction. The array is a sequential array constructed on a series-parallel feed network to obtain high gain and low axial ratio. Measurement results for the array, acquired by experiments in the compact range of POSTECH, showed a directivity of 27.88 dB, a high gain of 25.55 dB, an efficiency of 60%, an axial ratio of 1.74 dB, and a side-lobe level of -13 dB. The bandwidth of the array was 43% when the VSWR was 2, and the bandwidth of the axial ratio was 16%.
This paper is concerned with static and dynamic shape control of a laminated Bernoulli-Euler beam hosting a uniformly distributed array of resistively interconnected piezoelectric patches. We present an analytical one-dimensional model for a laminated piezoelectric beam with material discontinuities within the framework of Bernoulli-Euler and extent the model by a network of resistors which are connected to several piezoelectric patch actuators. The voltage of only one piezoelectric patch is prescribed: we answer the question how to design the interconnected resistive electric network in order to annihilate lateral vibrations of a cantilever. As a practical example, a cantilever with eight patch actuators under the influence of a tip-force is studied. It is found that the deflection at eight arbitrary points along the beam axis may be controlled independently, if the local action of the piezoelectric patches is equal in magnitude, but opposite in sign, to the external load. This is achieved by the proper design of the resistive network and a suitable choice of the input voltage signal. The validity of our method is exact in the static case for a Bernoulli-Euler beam, but it also gives satisfactory results at higher frequencies and for transient excitations. As long as a certain non-dimensional parameter, involving the number of the piezoelectric patches, the sum of the resistances in the electric network and the excitation frequency, is small, the proposed shape control method is approximately fulfilled for dynamic load excitations. We evaluate the feasibility of the proposed shape control method with a more refined model, by comparing the results of our one-dimensional calculations based on the extended Bernoulli-Euler equations to three-dimensional electromechanically coupled finite element results in ANSYS 12.0. The results with the simple Bernoulli-Euler model agree well with the three-dimensional finite element results.
