  • Current commercial dairy feed has various problems in low feed productivity, inadequate formulation and higher feeding cost due to excessive capital investment and non-specialized system for the end product. To solve those problems, 6 TMR terminal models were developed in this study. The developed TMR terminal system consists of TMR terminal, TMR main center and combined system linked TMR terminal and TMR main center. 15 TMR main center models were developed to support 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 TMR terminal(30 ton/day basis) by 3 different types, and evaluated for capital investment and operation cost by the analysis of the newly developed computer program. Optimum model size is analyzed and suggested for each model. Followings are summary of this study : 1. The capital investment costs of TMR main centers were 1,600 to 3,800 million won for type 1, 2,200 to 4,500 million won for type 2 and 2,200 to 4,800 million won for type 3. Also model MACE30 or bigger were justified as the economical models. 2. The feed production costs of TMR main center models were 3,166 to 4,824 won/ton for type 1, 3,816 to 6,182 won/ton for type 2 and 3,990 to 6,263 won/ton for type 3. So feed production cost range was 3,166 to 6,263 won/ton. 3. The bigger production capacity, the less TMR main center production cost. The feed production cost of the biggest model MACE50 was 62~65% of smallest model MACE10.

  • Success of the construction companies is based on the successful completion of projects within the agreed cost and time limits. Artificial neural networks (ANN) have recently attracted much attention because of their ability to solve the qualitative and quantitative problems faced in the construction industry. For the estimation of cost and duration different ANN models were developed. The database consists of data collected from completed projects. The same data is normalised and used as inputs and targets for developing ANN models. The models are trained, tested and validated using MATLAB R2013a Software. The results obtained are the ANN predicted outputs which are compared with the actual data, from which deviation is calculated. For this purpose, two successfully completed highway road projects are considered. The Nftool (Neural network fitting tool) and Nntool (Neural network/ Data Manager) approaches are used in this study. Using Nftool with trainlm as training function and Nntool with trainbr as the training function, both the Projects A and B have been carried out. Statistical analysis is carried out for the developed models. The application of neural networks when forming a preliminary estimate, would reduce the time and cost of data processing. It helps the contractor to take the decision much easier.

  • Parametric life-cycle cost(LCC) models have been integrated with traditional design tools, and used in prior work to demonstrate the rapid solution of holistic, analytical tradeoffs between detailed design variations. During early designs stages there may be competing concepts with dramatic differences. Additionally, detailed information is scarce, and decisions must be models. for a diverse range of concepts, and the lack of detailed information make the integration make the integration of traditional LCC models impractical. This paper explores an approximate method for providing preliminary life-cycle cost. Learning algorithms trained using the known characteristics of existing products be approximated quickly during conceptual design without the overhead of defining new models. Artificial neural networks are trained to generalize on product attributes and life cycle cost date from pre-existing LCC studies. The Product attribute data to quickly obtain and LCC for a new and then an application is provided. In additions, the statistical method, called regression analysis, is suggested to predict the LCC. Tests have shown it is possible to predict the life cycle cost, and the comparison results between a learning LCC model and a regression analysis is also shown

  • Under the situation which customer orders are cancelled unless all products in the order are delivered all at once, this paper concentrates on the purchase dependent demands and explores the systematic approach to implant the purchase dependence into the multi-product inventory model. First, by acknowledging that it is a challenging task to formulate a suitable inventory model for the purchase dependence, we derive the optimal solution condition using an EOQ model and extend the optimal solution condition to periodic review models. Then, through the comparison simulation of four inventory policies regarding several degrees of purchase dependence, we demonstrate that the inventory models which consider the purchase dependence generate less total cost than the inventory models which ignore the purchase dependence. In general, the inventory models which consider the purchase dependence reduce the loss of sales by maintaining more inventories, which results in reducing the total cost. Consequently, the simulation result supports the effectiveness of this paper's approach. In addition, this paper uses the individual order period and joint order period obtained from the EOQ model for the multi-product inventory model. Through the in-depth analysis of comparing the two models, we observe that the model of using the joint order period produces less total cost when the degree of purchase dependence is high, but the model of using the individual order period produces less total cost when the degree of purchase dependence is low.

  • Many highway projects are under way in Korea. However, owners frequently find that the project cost exceeds the budget and they are unable to identify the underlining reasons. The main purpose of this research is to develop cost models for transportation projects in Korea using the multiple linear regression (MLR). The data consist of 27 completed transportation projects, built from 1991 to 2001, The technique of multiple regression analysis is used to develop the parametric cost estimating model for total budget cost per highway square meter (TBC/$m^2$). Findings of the study indicated that MLR car be applied to highway projects in Korea. There are twf) major contributions of this research. (1) the identification of transportation parameters as a significant cost driver for transportation costs and (2) the successful development of the parametric cost estimating models for transportation projects in Korea.

  • households using the 2007 Korean Retirement and Income Study. Elderly households were classified into three groups based on the comparisons among the costs of living and then the factors influencing the probability of belonging to each group were investigated using multiple logistic regression models. The major findings are as follows. Firstly, the subjective adequate cost of living was the highest and the subjective minimum cost of living was the lowest. The actual cost of living was in between. Secondly, 42.6% of elderly households belonged to Group1(whose actual cost of living was less than the subjective minimum cost of living), 30.0% was classified into Group2(whose actual cost of living was greater than the subjective minimum cost of living but less than the subjective adequate cost of living) and the actual cost of living of the remaining 27.4% was greater than the subjective adequate cost of living(Group3). Thirdly, income was the strongest factor influencing the probability of belonging to each group, but the influencing factors were different for the logistic models for Group1 and Group3 based on Group2.

  • It is discussed how to determine time windows for pickups and deliveries, which have been assumed to be given in all most of previous studies on traveling salesman problems with time window, vehicle routing problems with time window, vehicle scheduling and dispatching problems, and so on. First, time windows are classified into four models (DR, DA, AR, and AA) by customers‘ polices. For each model, it is shown how a time window is related to various cost terms of suppliers and customers. Under the assumption of collaborative supplier-customer relationship, an integrated cost model for both supplier and customer is constructed for determining boundaries of time windows. The cost models in this paper consists of cost terms that depend on waiting time, early arrival time, late arrival time, and rejection of receipt. A numerical example is provided and results of the sensitivity analysis for some parameters are also provided to help intuitive understanding about the characteristics of the suggested models.

  • This research aims to investigate the seismic response of RC shear wall buildings of 5-, 6-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and 10-story designed as conventional and ductile and located in moderate seismic zone in Saudi Arabia in accordance with the seismic provisions of the American code ASCE-7-16. Dynamic analysis is conducted using the developed models in ETABS and the design spectra of the selected zone. The seismic responses of a number of design variations are evaluated in terms of story displacements, drift, shear and moments of both conventional and ductile building models as performance measures and presented comparatively. In addition, pushover analysis is also performed for the lowest and highest building models. Cost estimate of ductile and conventional walls is evaluated and compared to each other in terms of weight of reinforcement bars. In addition, due to the complexity of design and installation of ductile shear walls, sensitivity analysis is performed as well. It is observed that conventional design considerably increases induced seismic responses as well as cost compared to ductile one.

  • The first full-scale u-City operation has started in Dongtan u-City. As local cities take over and operate the u-City, unexpected issues arise such as securing the budget of operating costs and self-providing the costs with business models utilizing the u-City assets. The paper presents a strategy for solving these issues. The strategy provides a foundation(infrastructure) for long-term operation models which may reduce the long-term operating costs. In order to establish the economic operating framework of u-City, suggested are some cost-reduction models based on the operating costs structure. For each model, a base framework with comparative analysis of operating costs is provided. With these models, each u-City may select a relevant model according to the characteristics of it. We hope that the framework provides the foundation for efficient and sustainable u-City operations.
