  • Because the meteorological observation towers are scattered over large area, the collected meteorological data are very sparse. Therefore, the need for data collection on the limited urban areas like a specific building or subway area brings about vest cost which is required to install the corresponding sensors on the areas. Recently, to overcome this problem, the sensor network technique comes to the fore. This paper studies an application to service the meteorological map using mobile phone sensors.

  • At these day, owing to functional limitations and cost issues, used image map in web service have a problem which can not make exactly meet the user needs. This study aims to create an individual map for user suitable purposes using HTML5 technology that implement the vector map creation and its functions with services. The results of this study, the invisible problems of the tilting and rotation functions in image-based map utilizing the existing web environment were solved in HTML5 vector map. And to access the map information, by implementing the function of expressing the background and name data to selectively derive, various results were expressed in the map. Also, as a result of a comparison of performance the time required was measured at 0.88sec which comes in the range of the first loading time between 0.78sec and 7.56sec in a commercial map service, which showed the possibility of its commercialization. compared to 180GB of image maps for the production of a national map index system, the volume to produce a vector map was 2.5GB, a decrease by over 90%, which solved the issue of costs for a storage space. As a result, this study of HTML5 vector map design and implementation presented a plan for providing information suitable for the requirements of the users who use spatial information through utilizing a variety of information and expanding functions.

Quickly Map Renewal through IPM-based Image Matching with High-Definition Map (IPM 기반 정밀도로지도 매칭을 통한 지도 신속 갱신 방법)

  • In autonomous driving, road markings are an essential element for object tracking, path planning and they are able to provide important information for localization. This paper presents an approach to update and measure road surface markers with HD maps as well as matching using inverse perspective mapping. The IPM removes perspective effects from the vehicle's front camera image and remaps them to the 2D domain to create a bird-view region to fit with HD map regions. In addition, letters and arrows such as stop lines, crosswalks, dotted lines, and straight lines are recognized and compared to objects on the HD map to determine whether they are updated. The localization of a newly installed object can be obtained by referring to the measurement value of the surrounding object on the HD map. Therefore, we are able to obtain high accuracy update results with very low computational costs and low-cost cameras and GNSS/INS sensors alone.

  • Recently, many unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) studies have focused on small UAVs, because they are cost effective and suitable in dangerous indoor environments where human entry is limited. Map building through distance measurement is a key technology for the autonomous flight of small UAVs. In many researches for unmanned systems, distance could be measured by using laser range finders or stereo vision sensors. Even though a laser range finder provides accurate distance measurements, it has a disadvantage of high cost. Calculating the distance using a stereo vision sensor is straightforward. However, the sensor is large and heavy, which is not suitable for small UAVs with limited payload. This paper suggests a low-cost distance measurement system using a laser pointer and a monocular vision sensor. A method to measure distance using the suggested system is explained and some experiments on map building are conducted with these distance measurements. The experimental results are compared to the actual data and the reliability of the suggested system is verified.

  • Recently, many researchers in the world are concentrated to develop the robot platform which is to reduce the developing cost by reusing existing softwares. In this paper, we describe that the 3 dimension recognition object components for OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Services) which is developed in Korea. We present that the structure of the component, disparity map and depth map algorithm for recognizing 3 dimension space. We used stereo matching and block matching method to produce the disparity map. We test the component on the computer with OPRoS platform and show the results of accuracy and performance time.

  • Developing an efficient knowledge base construction mechanism as an input method for expert systems (ES) development is of extreme importance due to the fact that an input process takes a lot of time and cost in constructing an ES. Most ES require experts to explicit their tacit knowledge into a form of explicit knowledge base with a full sentence. In addition, the explicit knowledge bases were composed of strict grammar and keywords. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a knowledge conceptualization and construction mechanism for automated knowledge acquisition, allowing an efficient decision. To this purpose, we extended traditional knowledge map (KM) construction process to dynamic knowledge map (DKM) and combined this algorithm with relational database (RDB). In the experiment section, we used medical data to show the efficiency of our proposed mechanism. Each rule in the DKM was characterized by the name of disease, clinical attributes and their treatments. Experimental results with various disease show that the proposed system is superior in terms of understanding and convenience of use.

  • Digital maps that art the primitive components for GIS has been increasingly used for various applications. Although their production processes has been noticeably improved, particularly, the geographic survey and structural editing processes still depends on the traditional process depending on maps printed on papers. This study thus proposes a new efficient method employing a computerized filed survey system into these processes. We applied this method to producing a digital map ver 2.0 and compare the results nth those based on the existing method. From this comparison analysis, it is shown that the proposed method saves about 5% from the overall cost by reducing the man power and processing steps required for digital map production.

  • The current Digital map is ambiguous to be managed because that's managed partition unit file-based. It brings about the cost of consumption because area has been changed or not is managed redundantly and there has been no way to provide digital map of spatial and time management. In addition, digital map can't have the management of security assurance and systematization because it is managed file-based. Therefore, this research provides figures that after applying UFID per object, it can be managed history every update of it by object unit.

  • Vectorizing for input processing of map is the most time and cost consuming task, and the quality of vector data depends on that processing result. Therefore, it is an important task to develop a good vectorizing system in the GIS. Thinning algorithm is the most important technology for deciding the quality of vector data in the vectorizing system. In this paper, as a suitable algorithm for map vectorizing we considered several algorithms that preserve topological and geometric characteristics, and have no distortion of the contour line. As a results, we implemented WPTA4 and well known thinning algorithm, and compared WPTA4 execution results with the others.

  • For tendering three-dimensional map information using Internet, firstly Web server is considered, but generally the source code of commercial application is not open to the public and approaching the source technology is difficult. So, there are many limitations of the technology development. In this study, to solve these problems, we have introduced Linux operating system with open source system and utilized VRML to be able to practice three-dimensional spatial data on Web browser, and constructed the Internet three-dimensional map server. In the result, the constructed server is economical because there is no cost except the hardware, and the active maintenance and management is accomplished by using the opened source code.
