  • This study aimed to identify the effects of advertisement properties in PPL-used cosmetic convergence advertisements on brand attitude and purchasing intention and provide basic data that can be used for PPL marketing in cosmetics industry. For the purpose, this study interviewed female college students using a questionnaire and analysed 494 copies of the responses except 6 ones whose responses were insincere using SPSS v. 21.0. As a result, it was discovered that informativeness and entertainment as sub-factors of advertisement properties had statistically significant positive (+)effects on brand attitude while discomfort had statistically significant negative(-) effect on it. Also, informativeness and entertainment had statistically significant positive (+)effects on purchasing intention. Therefore, as PPL that breaks the contents and flow of dramas or movies decreases advertisement effects and purchasing intention, PPL advertisements should naturally present information on cosmetic products in dramas or movies.

  • A diarylheptanoid, (5S)-1,7-bis-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5-hydroxyheptane-3-one-5-O-${\beta}$-D-xylopyranoside, named oregonin (1), was isolated from the of Alnus japonica (A. japonica), which is a species of the genus Betulaceae, growing throughout Korea, Japan and China. The structure was elucidated by various spectroscopic methods including negative and positive LC/MS, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR techniques or by comparison with authentic samples. In order to evaluate the anti-oxidative activities of oregonin (1) isolated from A. japonica, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and 2,2'-azino-bis[3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid] (ABTS) radical scavenging activity were measured in vitro. Oregonin from A. japonica exhibited potent DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities. A. japonica shows not only 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and ABTS radical scavenging activity, but also apoptosis modulative effects. The present results indicate that A. japonica could be a hair-growth-promoting agent for cosmetic products.

  • This study is a proposal for art mask design through the use of Art Nouveau. Based on precedent studies, its characteristics have been divided into a curvy expression, feminine expression, naturalism expression, and a repetitive expression. The four pieces by Gustav Klimt, a signature artist of Art Nouveau, have been selected. With the motif from them, the art masks were redesigned and the following results have been obtained. First, the study sought out a possibility and the methodologies to apply Art Nouveau to the art mask design. Second, the study has improved the accessibility to materials by increasing the scopes and methods of the art masks. Third, an integration of the art masks with the art history has provided a suitable condition for them. Based on such study results, it is expected that art mask materials could be developed and their status, as a field of makeup, could be raised.

  • This study examined the concept and characteristics of grotesque painting and its history and presented body painting convergence designs using paintings of each age as basic data on creative and unique body painting design. For the purpose, this study theoretically examined the concepts, characteristics and expressing techniques of grotesque and body painting, analysed images of grotesque paintings in each age and represented convergence body painting based on the results. As a result, it was discovered that paintings including grotesque paintings provided infinite imagination and diverse themes for body painting artists. It means that artistic works can work efficiently for future body painting design. Also, it is expected that they will inspire those who want to study them more academically and in an organized way and body painting will have an independent area in art.

  • This study divided hairpiece-related technologies into three categories: Materials, Structure, Hair Extensions. Then, it investigated the current patent application trends in the above technologies and attempted to determine what aspects should be focused on in terms of the growth potential of hairpiece-related technologies and future technologies. A hairpiece is used to cover a specific balding area resulting from innate factors such as heredity or acquired traits including disease or accident. It is also used to make short hair look longer. Recently, as the rates of hair loss caused by stress increase, there has been a rising demand for hairpieces that can quickly and conveniently cover a balding region as well as satisfy people's aesthetic needs through diverse hairstyling. Even though patents have been applied evenly across hairpiece technology fields, patent activity has declined since 2010 was confirmed. Therefore, this study targets the facilitation and expansion of the hairpiece technology market by suggesting desirable R&D directions for future hairpiece-related technologies after analyzing current hairpiece patent trends.

  • This study was conducted on women in their 20s and 30s living in the Seoul metropolitan area by using questionnaires on the recognition and purchase behavior of mask packs. According to this study, although there is high interest in skin beauty, the recognition of characteristics and distinctions according to mask pack type was found to be insufficient. After using mask packs, 51.5% of those surveyed were satisfied with their efficacy and effectiveness. When using the mask pack, the Sheet type mask pack was discontented with usability, size, Close Adhesion and skin irritation, Hydrogel type is material, sleeping type is content and absorbent, cellulose type pack was found to have the same discomfort with the material as the hydro gel type. Through the results of this study, the possibility of utilization as basic data for mask pack market marketing was confirmed.

  • This study comparatively analyzed hair damage by hair bleach particles and identified three different bleach particle sizes using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The powdered bleaching agents made of ammonium persulfate (APS) and potassium persulfate had particle sizes of $131{\mu}m$, $72{\mu}m$ and $48.8{\mu}m$. According to a hair damage test, cuticle lift-up or peeling hardly occurred when small bleach particles were used. In terms of hair color, the hair bleached with larger bleach particles was the darkest, while the hair bleached with small bleach particles was the brightest. The results found that for bleaching agents that are more effective in easing hair damage, those with little particles should be used. In addition, it appears that the selection of particles depending on the degree of hair bleaching would enhance bleaching effects and reduce hair damage. The above process is a way to get great results in selecting a bleaching agent. It is anticipated that hair damage could be reduced during hair bleaching based on the above results.

  • This study attempted to investigate the perception of safety of regular polish and gel polish and degree of nail damage. For this, a questionnaire survey and an experiment were performed against women in their 20-50s, and the results found the followings: In terms of effectiveness, safety and degree of nail damage, gel polish was higher than regular polish. In addition, moisture/sebum levels and trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) decreased after the experiment. Specifically, such reduction was greater in gel polish. When the nail surface was observed by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) after polish removal, gel polish revealed severe nail damage. The above results confirm that gel polish is greater than regular polish in terms of influence on the degree of nail damage. Therefore, it is anticipated that the study results would be available as basic data in keeping nails healthy and beautiful.

  • In general, heat-based treatments are preferred to form the most natural and elastic curls. Therefore, this study measured the degree of hair damage, which has an influence on hair, in relation to the heat formation of the rods used during perms using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). To examine the influence of the heat formation rods on permanent waves, this study measured the temperature transmitted from such rods. Then, a treatment was given after cutting the hair according to the round shape. According to observation with a SEM, hair breakage was found in the portion in direct contact with the heat, and the broken surface was smooth. According to the study results, it is anticipated that there should be many studies on the rods used during perms in the consideration of their structure and importance using materials that have the property of even heat transmission.
