초음파 진동에 따른 CFRP의 출구 구멍 버 생성 (The Exit Hole Burr Generation of CFRP with Ultrasonic Vibration)

  • CFRP has many industrial applications due to its low weight and high strength properties. CFRP is a composite material composed of carbon fibers embedded in a polymer matrix; it provides excellent resistance to fatigue wear, corrosion, and breakage due to fatigue. It is increasingly demanded in aircraft, automotive, and medical industries due to its superior properties to aluminum alloys, which were once considered the most suitable for specific applications. The basic machining methods of CFRP are drilling and route milling. However, in the case of drilling, the delamination of each layer, uncut fiber, resin burning, spalling, and exit burrs are barriers to successful application. This paper investigates the occurrence of exit burrs when drilling holes with ultrasonic vibration. Depending on design parameters such as the point angle, the characteristics of hole drilling were identified and appropriate machining conditions were considered.

  • CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics) has many industrial applications due to its low weight and high strength properties. Due to its superior properties, for example, excellent resistance to fatigue wear, corrosion, and breakage from fatigue, it has been widely applicable to aircraft, automotive, and medical industries and so on. The main machining for CFRP is drilling, and route milling. In case of drilling, the machining defects such as the delamination of each layer, uncut fiber, resin burning, spalling, and exit burrs are inevitable. The issue to remove such kind of defects is necessary to make CFRP parts successful. From this point of view, this paper investigates the removal effectiveness of machining defects existing at exit region with different type of tool geometries. Consequently, based on the experiments, the tool geometry is most impact factor to remove uncut fiber or resin.

  • In the fossil power plant, the reliability of the components which consist of the many welded parts depends on the quality of welding. The residual stress is occurred by the heat flux of high temperature during weld process. This decreases the mechanical properties as the strength of fatigue and fracture or causes the stress corrosion cracking and fatigue fracture. Especially, the accidents due to the residual stress occurred at the weld parts of high-temperature and high-pressure pipes and steam headers. Also, the residual stress of the welded part in the recently constructed power plants has been brought into relief as the cause of various accidents. The aim of this study is the measurement of the residual stress using the x-ray diffraction method. The merits of this are more accurate and applicable than other methods. The materials used for the study is P92 steel for the use of high temperature pipe on super critical condition. The variables of tests are the post-weld heat treatment, the surface roughness and the depth from the original surface. The test results were analyzed by the distributed characteristics of the full width at half maximum intensity (FWHM) in x-ray diffraction intensity curve and by the relation of hardness with FWHM.

CFRP 보강근을 이용한 콘크리트 보의 피로거동 (Fatigue Behavior of Concrete Beam Using CFRP Rebar)

  • 최근 철근의 대체재로서 인장강도나 내부식성이 좋은 CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced polymer)를 이용한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 현재 피로 파괴에 대한 연구는 미비한 상태이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 CFRP보강 콘크리트 보를 제작하여 정적 및 반복 하중에 따른 역학적 거동과 파괴형태를 분석하고 철근의 대체 재료로서 CFRP 보강근 사용에 대한 안전성과 타당성을 평가하도록 하였다. 반복하중의 범위는 극한하중의 10~70%를 취하고 3점 재하방식으로 sine파를 이용한 3Hz의 속도로 재하 하였다. 정적 실험결과 보강량의 증가에 따라 보의 최대하중이나 강성은 현저하게 증가하였지만 피로 실험결과 보강량의 증가에 따라 반복 횟수는 감소하고 처짐량은 증가하여 안전성은 다소 감소됨을 알 수 있었다.

해수전착 코팅을 이용한 내부식성 철근의 개발 및 적용성에 대한 연구 (2) -해수전착된 구조용 철근의 적용성 평가 (Development and Application of Anti-Corrosive Steel Using Electro-Deposition of Sea Water (2)- Evaluation of Application Rebar with Electro-Deposition Using Sea Water)

  • 해수에 노출된 콘크리트 구조물은 시간의 경과에 따라 철근부식이 야기될 수 있으며, 이는 구조적인 성능저하로 진전된다. 1단계 연구에서 도출된 해수전착시스템의 개발을 통하여 2단계 연구에서는 해수전착 코팅된 철근 및 코팅철근을 사용한 RC 콘크리트 부재의 구조적, 내구적 성능이 평가되었다. 내구적 성능평가에서는 반전위 측정이 수행되었는데, 코팅된 철근은 일반철근의 35%수준의 부식속도를 가지고 있었으므로 높은 내부식성을 확보하고 있었다. 구조실험에서는 직접인장시험, 부착력시험, RC 부재를 이용한 휨 및 전단시험이 수행되었다. 인장강도 시험에서는 3.2%, 부착성능에서는 8.8%의 강도 증가가 코팅된 철근에서 평가되었다. RC보에 대한 실험에서는 최대하중 및 파괴형태는 두가지 경우에서 거의 동일하게 평가되었다. 해수전착된 시편은 철근주위에 콘크리트와 비슷한 화합물(수산화마그네슘, 탄산칼슘)이 형성되므로 부착력 및 강도를 일부 증가시키는 것으로 평가되었다. 해수전착철근은 피로, 내충격성, 장기침지실험 등을 통하여 성능이 입증되면 더욱 활발하게 사용될 것으로 사료된다.

  • It is well known that metal cutting leaves a plastically deformed layer in the machined surface. This residual phenomenon affects in various forms the physical properties of machined components such as the fatigue strength, the dimensional instability, microcracks, and the stress corrosion cracking. These physical properties, so called surface integrity, are very important for designing highly stressed and critically loaded components. Typical plastic strains in the machined surface are very difficult to measure, since they are located within a very short distance from the surface and they change very rapidly. There is an alternative way to determine the residual strain in plastically deformed materials by measuring the grain size after a subsequent recrystallization process. Although, this technique has been successfully applied by several researchers to find the plastic zone around notches and cracks in various materials and welding beads, few works have been reported using the recrystallization method to determine the residual strains in machined surface. Therefore, the purpose of this investigation Is to explore the effectiveness of the recrystallization technique in machining applications, and in particular, to find the effect of cutting parameters, i.e., depth of cut and rake angle on the plastic strains.

  • 구조물이나 기계요소내의 결함이 성장하여 파손(Failure)에 이르는 현상은 공학분야에서 중요하게 평가되어 오고 있다. 반복적으로 변하는 응력에 의하여 결함이 초기 성장을 거쳐 재료의 파손에 이르게 되는 과정인 피로파괴는 파괴역학의 한 중요한 분야이다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 열처리의 특성상 부식환경에 매우 민감한 Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Alloy 7075에 대하여 Peak Aged T65l Tempering을 실시한 Al-Alloy 7075-T65l에 대하여 각기 환경(대기, 물, 해수)의 변화가 부식피로균열성장에 미치는 영향과 부식환경에서의 긴 균열(Long Crack)과 짧은 균열(Short Clark)의 부식피로균열 성장특성을 비교, 고찰하여 초기균열의 잠재시간과 안정성장 시간을 예측하여 구조물의 수명예측 및 안전성 평가에 기여 할 수 있는데 목적이 있다.   • There has been recent demand for extending the life of age-degraded structures and equipment by such techniques as diagnosis, maintenance, safety assessment, and estimating residual life on iron-making plants and hydraulic, thermal, and nuclear power plants. These techniques take into account comprehensive scenarios that may cause malfunction and structural damage and allow an assessment of risk based on the likely scenarios. In particular the safety assessment and residual life estimation of age-degraded ships and equipment facilities require consideration of various factors such as mechanical and thermal stresses, corrosion, hardness, load variation due to changes of operating condition, crack generation and strength reduction of material by fatigue. In this study, a detail thermal stress analysis, one of useful techniques of safety assessment and maintenance, is performed on a blast furnace by using general FEM code (MSC/NASTRAN).

  • Internal defects of thin pressure vessel used in the power plants or the chemical plants may be created and grow due to corrosion or creep fatigue to reduce the strength and cause critical failure during operation. Therefore it is very important to detect this defect at the early stage. For this purpose, non-destructive, non-contact and highly sensitive method should be considered for on-line application. In this paper, a laser shearographic interferometer is applied to inspect circular defects and notch defects existed inside of thin pressure vessel under the presence of pressure up to 3 times of atmospheric pressure. The influences of the defect shape and size as well as the internal pressure to the characteristic pattern in the shearography fringe are investigated, and the quantitative evaluation of the defect size is tried. Also the experimental results are compared with the destructive test results to show the applicability of this method to the quantitative evaluation of internal defects in the thin pressure vessel.
