Galvalume 강판의 용접성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Welding Characteristics of the Galvalume Steel Sheet)

  • The problem of autobody corrosion has been addressed over the past decade by the increasing use of zinc and zinc alloy costed steels in automotive application. this paper describes the evaluation of formability, weldability and painted corrosion performance of galvalume steel sheet. This paper presents an overview of the program and some initial test results on the weldability, lifetime of the electrode tip shpae of the spot welding and corrosion protection. Galvalume steel sheet improved corrosion performance and spot weldability of galvalume steel has no problem for the variation of welding current. And tip lifetime was changed according to the influence of shape.

온도변화에 따른 AISI 304SS의 틈내 전위강하에 관한 연구 (A Study on the IR Drop in Crevice of AISI 304 Stainless Steel by Temperature Variation)

  • As the results of recent industrial development, many industrial plants and marine structures are exposed to severe corrosion environment than before. Especially, under the wet environment, crevice corrosion damage problems necessarily occur and encourage many interests to prevent them. In this study, the electrochemical polarization test was carried out to study characteristics of crevice corrosion for AISI 304 stainless steel in various solution temperatures. The results are as follows ; 1) as the solution temperature increased in IN $\textrm{H}_2\textrm{SO}_4$, the passive current density and critical current density were increased, whereas corrosion potential and break down potential were nearly constant, 2) as the solution temperature increased. the induced time for initiation of crevice corrosion was shortened. 3) The potential range in the crevice was -220mV/SCE to -380mV/SCE according to the distance from the crevice opening, which is lower than that of external surface of -200mV/SCE.

  • This paper presents the effect of shape of external corrosion in pipeline on failure prediction by using numerical simulation. The numerical study for the pipeline failure analysis is based on the FEM(Finite Element Method) with an elastic-plastic and large-deformation analysis. The predicted failure stress assessed for the simulated corrosion defects having different corroded shapes along the pipeline axis are compared with those by methods specified in ANSl/ASME B31G code and a modified B31G code.

  • Inconel alloys used as nuclear power plant components have experienced intergranular stress corrosion cracking problems inspite of their good corrosion characteristics. In order to investigate the effects of heat treatments on carbide precipitation and intergranular stress corrosion cracking(IGSCC) in Inconel alloys, DSC(Differential Scanning Calorimeter), TEM, EDXS and static potential corrosion tests were carried out. Thermal treatment at $750^{\circ}C$ for 15hours in Inconel alloys increased the density of intergranular carbide. The carbides are mainly $Cr_7C_3$ in Inconel 600, and $Cr_{23}C_6$ in Inconel 690. The Cr depletion around grain boundary is not crucial factor on IGSCC. The carbides in grain boundary play an important role as acting dislocation source, and as decreasing stress around growing crack.

  • Cavitation erosion-corrosion implies damage to materials due to the shock pressure or shock wave that results when bubbles form and collapse at a metal surface within a liquid. If the liquids corrosive to the material, a condition typically encountered in industry, the component materials may suffer serious damage by a combination of mechanical and electrochemical attack. To suppress cavitation erosion as well as cavitation erosion-corrosion to hydraulic equipments, innovations such as the improvement in the geometric design of the equipment or the selection of suitably resistant construction materials are necessary. This study was tested by using the piezoelectric vibrator with 20kHz, 24${\mu}$m for cavitation generation. And also, the vibratory cavitation erosion-corrosion tests on commercial mild steel SS41were carried out. We carefully observed the erosion pattern and surface photography. The geometrical mechanism of pit growth, which is to be likely these processing; shallow typelongrightarrowundercut typelongrightarrowwide shallow type.

Al-Si확산코팅에 따른 Ni기 초합금의 미세조직과 부식특성 (Microstructure and Corrosion Characteristics of Al-Si Diffusion Coated Ni Base Super alloy)

  • The microstructure and corrosion properties of Al-Si diffusion coated PWA1426 alloy have been investigated. Experimental variables are included temperatures of heat-treatment and coating thickness. The microstructure of coated layer and corrosion properties were analysed by SEM, EDS and hot corrosion test. Two major processes have been found to contribute to microstructural changes in the coating. These are, firstly, the transformation of the NiAl to other $Ni_2Al_3$-based phase and secondly, the precipitation of Cr containing phases. Specimens heat treated at $1080^{\circ}C$ showed superior corrosion resistance to heat treated at $880^{\circ}C$. These increase in life was attributed to the transformation of NiAl and increased coating thickness of PWA1426 alloy.

  • Graphene was coated on austenitic and martensitic stainless steels to simulate the metallic bipolar plate of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized and was reduced to reduced graphene oxide (rGO) via a hydrazine process. rGO was confirmed by FE-SEM, Raman spectroscopy and XPS. Interfacial contact resistance (ICR) between the bipolar plate and the gas diffusion layer (GDL) was measured to confirm the electrical conductivity. Both ICR and corrosion current density decreased on graphene coated stainless steels. Corrosion resistance was also improved with immersion time in cathodic environments and satisfied the criteria of the Department of Energy (DOE), USA. The total concentrations of metal ions dissolved from graphene coated stainless steels were reduced. Furthermore hydrophobicity was improved by increasing the contact angle.

  • ACSR of the catenary wires is corrosion degradation progressed by the effect of atmospheric pollution. ACSR which consists of galvanized steel stranded aluminum. The inside of Steel Reinforced is hot-dipped zinc coating steel wire and it takes charge of tension. If ACSR is exposed in atmosphere, the galvanic corrosion is occurred because it is contacted with aluminum. It is occurred the chemical reaction rapidly so that the local a defect is also occurred. If the catenary wires are exposed in atmosphere of pollution conditions, it may cause to reduce the mechanical strength by corrosion degradation and may cause to damage the wires by micro cracks. Accordingly, this study presents the effects of mechanical properties through the corrosion of ACSR.

  • Al ion plating was carried to improve corrosion resistance of Nd-based permanent magnet made by prwder molding method. The effects of applied votage, pressyre and temperature were investigated to find the reation between coating parameters and their properties. Density of coating layer increased with voltage and thus corrosion resistance improved. However when voltage was applied more than 1000V, corrosion resistance whet down because of resputtering effect. Good corrosion resistance was acquired when gas pressure was $5.0\times10^-2$>torr, which is satisfied momentum energy of Ar, Al ions as well as quantity of plasma. The layer coated in low temperature range have better surface density and corrosion resistance than in high temperature. This result is seemed due to the characteristics of substrate itself. All coating layers were showed stong adhesion with substrate.

표면개질에 의한 기계구조용강의 마멸특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Wear Characteristics of Machine Structural Steel by Surface Modification)

  • The surface modification of automobile parts is of great technological importance for the improvement of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, fatigue strength and so on. Recently, research on the development of the technology of surface modification substituting 6-balance chrome process has progressively been achieved in automobile parts. Although the innovation technology for the improvement of the corrosion-resisting and wear resistant properties through post oxidation after nitrocarburising process had attracted a great attention. For this, anodically potentiodynamic polarisation testing was carried out to corrosion resistance and friction and wear experiment according to applied load and sliding distance was carried out to evaluate the wear resistance of machine structural steel with nitrocarburising and non-nitrocarburising SM45C. The presumed wear volume was calculated with the image processing far evaluation of wear resistance of two materials. The results show that the nitrocarburising had a distinguished corrosion resistance and wear resistance than non-nitrocarburising.
